The air smelt of freedom.This was pure bliss. WAIT,didn't I die? Surely I'm not in heaven. I opened my eyes..
I was in a large room, a really beautiful room and I was on a king sized bed with dozens of pillows and quilt. It all smelt of royalty. I pinched myself just to make sure this was real.
"this is real", I said.
The door opened and two girls dressed as maids strolled in
"Good morning, your highness ", they chorused.
" Huh? "
I stared at them, why were they addressing me as 'your highness'. I came down from the bed and said
" hey if you don't mind please just answer these bunch of questions I'm gonna throw at you now.
Where am I? Why am I here? Who brought me here? And why are you addressing me as royalty? "
They looked at each other, then they both put their hands on my shoulders leasing me to a chair. One of them spoke
" I'm Deena, she is Lisa and we are your personal maids".
"you are in your Kingdom, Axona and you are here because you are our princess", Lisa said
"As for who brought you here, His majesty, the next king alpha brought you here and the rest of the story will be told by the royal family, your mother and father", Deena finished.
I was in shock, I brought my hands to my mouth.
I have a mom and dad.
"Princess iris, I know you have a lot more questions to ask but you will have to hold on for now", Deena said.
"our job is to make you look presentable, so come on, let's run you a bath ".
All I had to so was wait, be patient and I'll get my answers. They led me to the bathroom, the tub more like a round mini - swimming pool was filled with water that scented of lavender.
" I can take it from here, thank you", I said.
"We will be waiting in your room, Princess iris".
And with that they both went outside. Finally, some peace. I was still trying to let the information sink in, my mum and dad were alive.. And well .
"patience iris, patience " I said as I sank into the water breathing in the lavender.
As soon as I was through with my bath, I slipped into the robe, Deena and Lisa left and went back to the room.
They sat me down and started asking me look '
presentable'.
" why the hell are you taking so much time, it's not like I'm dying to impress anyone" I grumbled.
"just a minute... And.. Done"
"take a look"
This was the first time I was this much dressed.
My eyelids were covered in Bronze and my lips were in deep red plums. My red long hair was brushed and let loose, wearing black crystal earrings with a matching necklace. To top it all off, they had made me wear a black and red full dress with beautifully embroided patterns.
"you look beautiful princess iris"
But that wasn't my main concern right now.
"thank you, now I would like to see my family "
The word 'family' sounded so foreign in my mouth.
" yes, your highness".
I followed them out of the room and down the hall. It had so many doors, I'm pretty sure I don't remember the way to my room. They finally stopped at one door.
"this is the meeting room, they are waiting for you here. If you need anything we will be at your service"
And they left.
I was scared to open the door because I knew it would add a little more twist to my wretched life.
"you know you have to open the door to enter right? "
I spun around to see a guy, he was a redhead like me but had blue eyes and was handsome.
" who are you? "I asked folding my arms.
He brushed his bangs off his face and smiled
" I'm skyler but you can call me ky, sis"
"Sis? "
" Yh I'm your older brother "
I have a brother, at that point I didn't feel scared or any sympathy for my mum and dad. They literally destroyed me. I pushed the door with unnecessary force and walked in. I saw a man sitting on a throne with a woman sitting next to him. I immediately knew it was my mum and dad.
They both stood up smiling. My 'mum' spoke up first.
"Iris, my little girl, I never thought I'd see you again-"
"oh, just save all that crap and go straight to the point. Why did you abandon me? Do you know the hell I've passed through up to this point? "I said cutting her off"
"That is no way to speak to your mother" my dad intervened.
"and that is no way to treat your child, you left me and now after all these years, you come looking for me, for what? "I retorted.
Tears slipped down my mother's eyes as she spoke
" Iris, listen I know you are mad at us, but believe me we had no choice, we had to do it to save your life"
I bit my lip to stop the tears that threatened to fall.
She continued,
"At first when you were born, we didn't suspect anything. It was until you were two before you showed traces of being the chosen one. I chose to turn a blind eye to it until the aridites made their first attempt to end your life. Only the cursed fire can be used to kill you, so one of them appeared in your room and set it on fire, the cursed fire. Despite the difficulty we managed to save you and contain the fire. Then we had to face the bitter truth, your life was in danger, you had to go... "
She started sobbing and skyler went over to console her. She probably couldn't continue so my dad did
" we were all heartbroken, especially your mother. She couldn't bear the pain of parting with you bit we had to do it for your safety. Elizabeth donnor was your mother's best friend and the only person we could entrust with your life. So we paced you in her care and sent you both off to the ever realm, earth. Unfortunately, we lost contact with her immediately you both crossed the portal to earth. We had to believe you were safe. After a while, we decided to search for your location when we were sure the aridites were far from you but we weren't able to pin point your location, we could have easily done it with magic but the aridites could have easily traced it. When all hope was lost. The king alpha approached us with a deal. His son, the heir to the throne posses a special power, very lethal. That gives you the ability to do wonderful things with your mind. The king alpha believed that two powerful people coming together will be able to keep our realm, zyen and others like earth safe. He said that if his son succeeds in finding you, in return you will be betrothed to be his queen and we agreed. If you weren't safe on earth either then it will be better to be with your people "
My mum had pulled herself together, so she said
" Iris, we love you so much, please try to understand. We didn't have a choice and if we did. I for one would have never let you go anywhere"
"it's okay enough " I said stepping backwards
" Iris, wait "
" just leave me alone okay because you have no idea how it feels to have suffered alone through those years and then you wake up one morning and find out wow, my parents never really died. So just leave me alone!! "
I turned and ran out of the room.
I kept on running down the hall, passing numerous gigantic doors and out a door leading to a garden. I sank to the ground and pulled the grass. It all made sense, the woman I was told died wasn't my mother but Elizabeth donnor. I understood the position my parents were in and the fact that they had no choice but my minded was clouded so much that I couldn't think straight. I want able to let it out, it just holed up in me, making my heart heavy and sick.
Then I felt a hand on my shoulder, it was skyler.
"hey sis, I may not be able to understand the pain you are going through but mum and dad love you a lot. While you were gone they were never happy, it's like a part of them was gone too. You may not remember but before you left you were my favorite, my cute little sister and I still love you "
I looked at him wondering how those years would have been knowing you had an older brother to protect you and parents to love you but on the bright side, things could have been worse, I could have died never knowing I had a family. Maybe this was a chance to forget my past and have a family.
"I didn't mean any of what I said back there, I was just angry- "
" shh, I understand " he said pulling me into a hug. I smiled letting the tears flow freely. When I got a grip of myself he let go of me, cleaning my tears and said
" you might want to run along to mum, she's in a sorry state, literally"
I nodded and stood up, walking back inside, then is topped and faced ky.
"see ky, there's a little problem, I don't know anywhere in the palace, I'll just get lost"
"should have known, come on I'll take you to her " he said taking my hand and dragging me inside.
I don't think I could ever get used to this, there were so many doors. He finally stopped.
" can you handle this alone?"
"Of course, now go away "
" yes milady" he said giving me a mock bow. I rolled my eyes at him, then he winked and walked off.
Okay I can do this. I opened the door softly and entered. Mum was sitting on the bed staring at a picture and sobbing. When I got closer, I saw that it was the picture of a toddler with red hair,obviously me.
"mum "
She looked up at me
" Iris"
"no mum, I should apologize, I'm really sorry, I got so angry back there and said a bit of things which I shouldn't have and I understand why you and dad did what you did, it was for the best and I'm really happy I have you back now"
She smiled, opening her hands for a hug and I hugged her.
"Where is dad? "
" right here "
My dad was behind us. I stood up and hugged him.
" oh dad".
Then we all talked for a while, they didn't ask me anything concerning my life on earth and I didn't want to talk about it, so thank God. All that mattered now was I had my family back.

Retiring to my room later with the help of Deena and Lisa. I lay on my bed replying the story mum and dad told me earlier. I still had a lot of questions but they could wait for another day. Then I remembered what my dad said
If his son succeeds in finding you, in return you will be betrothed to him to be his queen.
That means I'm getting married to the next king alpha who apparently saved my life. But right now I was too exhausted to think it further.
That is for another day.
Then slowly I drifted into sleep.
