Ivar.
It had been a week since I had seen Iris. And I hate to admit it but I was itching to see her. It's funny how I just knew her for two days and I was getting attached.
As soon as kim and ky had said their vows, I walked outside to get some air, slowly getting lost in my thoughts.
When my dad told me I was going to marry Iris. I agreed only because I held my duties and responsibilities high.
A person like me wasn't allowed to fool around like others.
I was born with those powers I regard as a curse. Because of them, a lot of things were taken away from me.
But when I met Iris, I felt something, a feeling for the first time in years.
Everything about her fascinated me;her red long hair, those big black eyes that glowed violet when her powers were used, her rosy lips and her attitude.
My train of thought were brought to a stop when I saw Iris standing in the cold in front of the fountain. I couldn't help but smile as I walked up to her.
I removed my jacket and draped it over her shoulders.
"Ivar?"
I could see her smile from behind her. I leaned in and whispered into her ear.
"Did you miss me?"
She turned to face me, then looked down.
"Hate to admit it but I did miss you".
I smirked.
"Because I'm awesome".
"You wish".
"I'm not really in the mood to fight with you today".
And like that we found ourselves walking side by side. For a moment, there was an awkward silence. Finally she spoke.
"You know weddings in zyen are pretty interesting".
I shrugged and replied.
"I guess, how else are weddings done?"
"Well back on earth. The couple say their vows, the the priest pronounces them husband and wife, then they kiss".
I yawned.
"Boring".
"How would you know?"
"I don't know,I'm not a fan of ceremonies" I stated.
"Now that's boring", she said laughing.
I chuckled. Suddenly I remembered what my father said.
"Ivar, you'll have to find out about Iris's life on earth, it's very important plus she could give us vital information on Elix Joyner".
"But father, we should give her time, it's obvious she suffered on earth", I argued.
"I am aware. Ivar, time is what we do not have, you must do it,for zyen".
That's what everyone was always saying, for zyen.
I have been hearing that phrase for as long as I can remember. No one has ever said, for me.
It wasn't that I didn't care about zyen but I also existed. I had spent all of my life serving zyen.
"Ivar", Iris said snapping her fingers in front of my face, bringing me back to reality.
"What's wrong? , you look lost".
I sighed. I had to ask her now.
"Iris, I know you have a lot of bad memories on earth. My deepest apologies but you have to tell me everything".
Her expression suddenly changed. I saw tears spring to her eyes.
"I.. I.. I can't, I really can't".
She turned to go away but I held her and pulled her to me, holding her by her waist. I brought my hand to her face and gently wiped her tears.
"I'm sorry, that was out of place. I shouldn't have asked about such a sensitive topic. You don't have to tell me that's fine but don't cry, I'm not sure if I can handle it".
I cannot bear the thought of Iris crying, let alone see her cry. The two times I have seen her cry, I have been the cause of it. I don't know why but I can't handle her crying.
A tear fell on my finger as she stared at me. Her eyes shone violet as they were awakened by her emotions.
She looked so vulnerable. My eyes flickered to her rosy lips which looked so captivating.
"Ivar-", she started.
I stopped her short by crashing my lips against hers holding her delicate face. I dragged her closer to me, tightening my hold on her waist.
Our lips moved in sync as my hand moved to her hair. Her arms went around my neck slowly tracing her fingers on my neck as she pushed me to deepen the kiss. I could tell she was inexperienced by her movements against my lips.
I smiled as I guided her lips. Soon enough, she had gotten the hang of it. I sucked on her lower lip, asking for entrance.
She tugged at my hair, opening her lips and letting me evade her mouth with my tongue. I left her lips trailing kisses down her neck, her scent filling my nostrils, destroying my senses.
"Ivar.. "
Her voice brought me back to my senses.
What was I doing?
I let go of her. Her lips were slightly swollen.
Oh heavens.
"I'm sorry", my voice coming out gruffly.
I was angry with myself, my hands clenching into fists. I walked out very fast, still trying to believe I kissed Iris. I kissed her and I don't regret, not one bit.
Iris
I watched as Ivar walked out as he apologized to me.
I was astonished, like really surprised.
What just happened?
I brought my hands to my lips. I just had my first kiss and for some reasons, I was really happy about it.
It was funny how I was twenty years old but I didn't know a thing when it came to romance. I've never thought about it before. More like I never had the chance to.
"Goodness, I'm going crazy".
I sighed and started walking back inside. I didn't know why that happened but I know it felt right.
I muttered a spell to look exactly how I was before entering inside.
"Iris, where have you been?"
I turned to see who that was.
"Mum".
"It's your brother's wedding and you are nowhere to be found".
I sighed.
"Calm down Mum. I'm going over to them now".
"Go on".
I saw Kim talking to someone. Thankfully, the person left before I reached her.
A smile swept across her face when she saw me.
"Iris, I'm so happy", she gushed.
"It's obvious, you look like you could explode with joy".
"Finally I'm one with ky"
"Yes Queen kimberly of Axona".
She rose an eyebrow.
"Iris?"
I mimicked zipping my mouth.
"Not that, I mean you are not telling me something".
I shifted my gaze.
"What do you mean?"
She looked around for a bit then dragged me into the deserted hallway.
"I know you're not the kind of girl to be stealing kisses during ceremonies, that leaves only one person, Ivar?"
I gave her this 'I-really-don't-know-what-you're-talking-about' look.
"Whaat? I and Ivar. No, no. It's not what you think".
She folded her arms.
"Mh-mmm, girl just spill it".
I sighed for the umpteenth time that night.
"Well see Kim, it's kind of complicated".
I told her everything that happened outside.
"Well that rhymes correctly with what I saw",she said.
"Huh?", I asked, confused.
"It's my special ability. I see through spells, visions and all. So when I saw you, I had a vision. Nothing big".
"That's not fair".
"You know what's not fair? Not telling me you and Ivar had something cooking".
"No Kim. It just happened, now things are going to be awkward between us".
"Fine, let's go before they notice the bride is not at her own wedding. As for you and Ivar, things will only be awkward if you make them to"
"Well you guys are married, what's left?", I asked as we made our way back to the crowd.
"Nothing much, but a wedding usually ends with a kiss, we haven't done that yet and you Ivar must give a speech".
"Oh why?"
"Well he's ky's best man, you are my maid of honour".
"I'm not good at speeches".
"We will see", she said dragging me to the royal table.
Ivar was already sitter at the table. I tried not to look at him as much as I could but I had to take a seat in between him and KY, while Kim said next to ky.
Then our parents.
When we were all seated, Ivar stood up to make a toast to the couple.
"Ky and I have been friends forever. He's nice, humble and respectable. I would also say he's handsome but it is weird for a man to be admitting another man is handsome".
Everyone laughed at his last statement.
He continued.
"So when my sister, Kim was chosen to marry ky. I couldn't be more happier. I don't think I could find anyone better than ky for Kim. Their joining has brought so much joy to the royal families of the Nilans and Silvox. So I make this toast to them".
He held his goblet with half filled wine.
"Cheers".
"CHEERS!!!", the crowd chorused.
Suddenly they looked at me.
I touched my face to see if anything was on it.
Ky nudged me.
"Your speech", he whispered.
"Oh!".
I stood up and sighed.
"I haven't been around long enough to know everything about ky and Kim. But with the bit I've gotten these past few weeks. I can say that ky and Kim are one of the best people I've met in Zyen.
To be honest, I really don't know of what else to say because one can never really describe how good some people are. Kim and ky are one of those people".
I paused, then took both their hands and led them to the front of the people.
I continued.
"In my opinion, I don't think we need a priest to conduct this last part of the ceremony".
I turned to the crowd.
"To Kim and ky"
"TO KIM AND KY!!"
Then they both sealed their marriage and completed the last ritual with a kiss.
I smiled.
"Boy, that is one long kiss".
