Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

Unfortunately, the day isn't over just yet. After the students took their exam, they were about to leave the building when the speakers turned on, and the principal started speaking.

"Attention students: I know you are all eager to leave and rest your heads in your beds, but I only came to announce that in two days will be the school's Foundation Day." the principal said, "Please be sure to cooperate and make sure that you are all here and present on that day. There'll be a lot of fun things to do that have been prepared by the Supreme Student Government. Thank you for your time." The speakers then clicked and it turned off. Then, the students were happy and excited about the event.

On the other hand, Emily didn't quite listen to the announcement but seemed drowsy as she tries to keep her eyes open and while walking down the hallway and out of the school building.

'Man, that last test really took a lot out of me,' she thought in her head as she yawned, 'I think I might have to take a long nap.' But just as she was out of the door, she bumped into Sarah by mistake.

"Oh, sorry Sarah." Emily said, "I didn't see you there."

"Yeah, me too." Sarah spoke, "Uh, you do remember that we have to meet up here after the exam, right?"

"I did? I guess I forgot."

"Did the exam wore you out?"

"Um, I guess you could say that."

"I see," Sarah said, "Also, did you hear the announcement?"

"What announcement?" Emily wondered,

"Girl, you're really tired," Sarah commented, "The announcement about the school's 'Foundation Day'?"

"I guess it must've slipped my mind," Emily replied,

"Well, I heard that they were gonna put up a movie booth on that day." Sarah said, "Wanna join in?"

Emily thought about it for a moment, "Sure but it depends on what movie they're premiering."

"Great! I'll see you in two days." Sarah told her, "Don't be late."

"Sure thing," Emily said,

They both waved goodbye, they walked straight for their bikes and rode on it and went back to their neighborhood. As soon as Emily got back to her house, she was about to walk through the door but noticed something was off. She could smell something.

'Is someone cooking?' she thought, and when she went inside, she could see Jonathan, Aceron, Samantha, and James packing up small boxes filled with cookies and brownies.

"What's going on here?" Emily asked,

Her mom came into the room and saw Emily standing there. "Oh, we're preparing for the school's Foundation Day."

"Wait, what?" Emily said,

"Well, Jonathan here wanted to sell these in lieu to sponsor his brand," James explained,

"And why are you all here? No offense though," Emily asked,

"He may not admit it but he prefers to work with his friends and since the location was in the school where we spent most of our senior high years, it would be fitting to go and walk down memory lane." Aunt Samantha replied,

"That's not what I told you," Jonathan reminded her, but Samantha just stuck her tongue out at him.

"Oh, I see," Emily said,

"Wait. Where's Jolar at?" James wondered, "Shouldn't he be here by now?"

"He's got a game tournament to focus on and it's on the day where we hold this in Emily's school," Aceron explained,

"Well, he could've just told us before," Jonathan said,

"He was asleep by the time you sent him the invite," Aceron told him,

"Oh," Jonathan said then went back to counting the boxes.

"Speaking of which, do you have something to do this 'Foundation Day'?" Emily's mom asked,

"Well, Sarah and I were gonna go to one of those movie booths and watch a movie," Emily replied,

"Oh, that sounds nice." her mom said, "If you can, try to tell your classmates to come by our stand, okay?"

"Sure, mom." Emily said, "Where are you located by the way?"

Aunt Samantha looked at Jonathan, "You do know where are we supposed to be, right?" she asked,

Jonathan's eyes widened as he stopped writing on the piece of paper he was holding. He then gulped and said, "Hey Emily? What's the phone number of your principal again?"

"YOU FORGOT TO RESERVE A SPOT!?!?" Samantha exclaimed,

"Hey, in my defense, I was busy doing some paperwork from my business," Jonathan said,

"Paperwork, my butt! The day after you sent that invite, I saw you streaming online and playing Fortnite on Twitch!" Samantha told him,

"That was before I had to do the paperwork sent from my office," Jonathan said, "And how did you know about my Twitch stream?"

"That's not the point! You better contact the principal and reserve that spot or this project will end up being a waste of time and resources!" Samantha demanded,

"Alright. Alright. I'm already on it." Jonathan said as he dials the number on his phone.

Emily just shrugged and went upstairs to her room. By the time she got in, she took a quick shower, got a change of clothes, and sat in her bed with the laptop in front of her while she is brushing her hair.

She picked up her phone as she started scrolling through her photo gallery and picked the ones to keep and delete. A few minutes later, she went to her laptop and started doing some artwork with her drawing tablet.

Emily tried to get the right strokes but ended up not working on it. She then exited the drawing software and proceeded to look through some photos and adding them to the templates with the transitions.

By the time she finished editing the video, she put it in one of her folders. Emily quickly got bored and began watching videos online to the point she let it on autoplay while she plays a game on her phone. Until she remembered something. She quickly checked her bag and let out a huge sigh of relief as she picked up the ruby brooch and placing it back into her bag.
