Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

A few minutes later, Emily found herself surrounded by the "Marshals" as they circled her to prevent any escape.

"Uh, I think you guys are taking this a bit too seriously," Emily told them, "Aren't you guys supposed to take it easy on those you capture?"

However, none of the Marshals replied nor seem to care as Emily noticed that their eyes started to glow white and felt that something was off. Suddenly, the Marshals moved in and tried to grab her but Emily quickly stepped on one of them and jumped over and out of the circle.

"Okay, you guys are being weird and Imma just head out now, bye!" Emily said as she made a run for it towards the school building.

But just as she went inside, from what it seems like a crowded and noisy hallway, now empty and no students nor teachers are around and seen.

'Am I hallucinating or did they just end the event way quicker than I anticipated?' Emily thought to herself,

She then remembered something and ran down the hallways and found the gym but just as she barged through the door, not even a single person was seen but the food stands are there as they were when she saw them.

'Okay, something smells fishy around here and I'm not talking about that fish fillet that I smelled a few minutes ago,' Emily thought,

Then she heard footsteps from afar. Quick on her feet, she hid behind one of the food stands and peeked through a hole on the cardboard. Emily could see three of the Marshals walking into the gym and looking around. Emily held her breath as she tries not to make a sound.

Within seconds, the room suddenly became silent. Emily continued to hold her breath as she tries not to make a sound. She quietly peeked through the hole in the cardboard and saw no one. Then, she stood up and let out a huge sigh of relief.

"Looks like they're gone," Emily muttered to herself. Suddenly, she felt her hair straighten as she felt that something was off. She slowly turned around and saw the two Marshals standing there. "Me and my big mouth," she muttered.

The Marshals were about to grab her but Emily quickly did a backflip, landed on her hands, pushed herself up, slamming her foot on one of the Marshals, and did the roundhouse kick on the other. BAAM!! THUD!!

"I am so sorry 'bout that," Emily said and she bolted right out of the gym.

She found an unlocked room and went in closing the door behind her. Then, she heard footsteps getting louder as the Marshals marched through the hallway without checking the rooms.

'Whatever happened here, I have to find the source of all this,' Emily thought. She reached into her jacket pocket and took out her ruby brooch. She pinned it to her jacket and it glowed as her clothes transformed into red and black armor with her visor attached to her face.

The Marshals that walked past her earlier stopped in their tracks and turned around only to find Rose Knight standing there. They ran towards her with their arms extended hoping to capture her but Rose Knight parkoured her way through them all and as she landed on the other side of the hallway, the Marshals fell to the floor unconscious. THUD!! She knocked them all out without having to draw out her sword.

"This mission is turning out to be a lot difficult for me," Rose Knight muttered to herself, "I have to end it and fast,"

She then ran until she found the same gate she went in earlier and was shocked to see almost all of the students, teachers, staff, and many others trapped and held captive in what appears to be a golden cage.

"Welcome, Rose Knight!" someone called out, "I am so pleased that you could finally make it."

Rose Knight narrowed her eyes in suspicion as she looked around but saw no one, "Who are you? Show yourself!" she demanded,

Suddenly smoke popped out above the golden cage and a tall figure emerged from it. The man that stood there landed on his feet and bowed his head down while removing his top hat.

"My apologies, how rude of me," the man said as he stood there putting his hat on, "You can call me Monarch Joker," he then extended his hand and a cane appeared as he grabbed it and did it with style.

"So, you're the one behind this," Rose Knight said

"Indeed! I just want to put up a show for the audience," Monarch Joker explained,

Rose Knight was a bit skeptical about it. "Let's get this over with," she said as she drew out her sword and readied herself,

"Tsk. Tsk. Not so fast, feisty one." Monarch Joker said, "First, you must learn the rules of the game before we begin the battle."

Rose Knight was confused, "What do you mean by that?"

"I'm glad you asked," Monarch Joker smiled and snapped his fingers. Suddenly, a handful of people that were in the golden cage were released and turned into the Marshals.

"If you wish to defeat me, then you must defeat all these minions of mine until every single one of my captured audiences is no more," he explained,

Rose Knight's eyes widened in disbelief, "Are you crazy?! I am not gonna comply with that rule." she said, "This is just between you and me. None of those innocent people have to get involved in this,"

"So, are you planning to surrender then?" Monarch Joker asked,

"Over my dead body!" Rose Knight exclaimed,

"Then you must fight!" Monarch Joker said, "Entertain me or these people will end up being killed and turned into mincemeat for my pets!"

"Pets?" Rose Knight wondered,

Then she heard a sound of growling nearby and saw two large and ferocious-looking red tigers standing on top of the golden cage as they smelled the people in the cage as their saliva drooled and they look hungry as if they haven't eaten in a long time.

"Now, what's it gonna be Rose Knight?" Monarch Joker asked again, "Me? Or these precious people you so dearly want to save?

'I guess I don't have much of a choice,' Rose Knight grunted, "Bring it on!"
