After the Foundation Day, things started to cool down and it's turning back to normal. The following day came for the students to receive their report cards.
Emily just finished drying her hair and was tying her shoelaces. By the time she stood up, she grabbed her bag and was about to leave the house when she realized that her mom wasn't in the kitchen.
"Aunt Samantha?" Emily called out,
"Yeah?" Aunt Samantha replied from upstairs,
"Where's mom?" Emily asked,
"Oh, she left earlier because she got a business meeting later," Aunt Samantha replied,
"Do you know what time she'll be back?" Emily asked again,
"Uh, I'm not quite sure, Emily," Aunt Samantha replied, "She didn't say what time she'll be back,"
"Oh, okay," Emily said, "I'm off to get my report card now,"
"Stay safe, and be careful," Aunt Samantha reminded her,
"I will," Emily replied before leaving the house closing the door behind her. She then walked towards her bike as she dragged it to the sidewalk, rode on it towards her school.
Along the way, she was riding beside the thick forest. She noticed that through the trees that there's something else behind it all. She saw what appears to be a large greyish building that appears to not have been used for a long time.
Suddenly, something flashed into Emily's mind. She saw visions of what looks like a battle that occurred inside a building. Swords clashing and debris being etched on the ground causing cracks. Then, Emily snapped back to reality as seconds ticked by when she saw a bird landing on the pavement just inches away from her.
Quick on her feet, she got off her bike, stopped it from moving, and jumped above and over the tiny bird, and landing the bike with her riding on it as the wheels continue to move. Emily trailed to a halt and looked behind her only to find the tiny bird unharmed and flying away. She let out a sigh of relief and continued on her way towards her school.
By the time she got there, Emily saw that there are a couple of students walking in and out of school. She went inside and noticed that some of the students who have received their report cards and sharing what the scores they got on it.
On the other hand, Emily reached inside her bag and took out a piece of paper that had the request for receiving her report card with her mom's signature on it as well as a scanned copy of a validated ID. Seeing that she has what she needs, she put them back into her bag and continued walking until she reached her classroom.
As Emily slowly opened the door to her classroom, she noticed that there are a few adults and some of her classmates in the room waiting for their turn to get their report cards. Emily quietly walked in and sat on the seats beside her classmates.
She then took out her phone as she waited for her turn. Time passes by and Emily realizes that she's the only person left in the room. She put her phone inside her bag, got up from her seat, and went up to the front of the room as she handed the letter to the teacher on the desk.
A little while later, Emily walked out of her classroom looking at the report card she got. She seems satisfied with the grades she got.
"Almost all of them have a line of 8 or 9. Mostly A's and B's," she muttered to herself, "And the total average is at 94 so that doesn't sound so bad,"
"Hey, Emily!" someone called out,
Emily turned around and saw Sarah waving at her, "Oh, hi Sarah,"
"Did you get your report card?" Sarah asked,
"Yeah, I just got it," Emily said, "And you?"
"I also got mine," Sarah said, "Can I see your report card?"
"Sure but can you show me yours?" Emily said,
"Go right ahead," Sarah replied,
They both exchanged report cards and looked at them.
"Woah! I didn't know that you got four straight A's in your report card," Emily said,
"Yeah, and you're not bad with your grades yourself," Sarah chuckled,
"Are you planning to go to university someday?" Emily asked,
"Hmm… Still thinking about which one should I go to," Sarah replied, "What about you?"
"I'm also undecided," Emily said,
"Do you know which course are you gonna take?" Sarah asked,
"Yeah, I guess so," Emily said, "Either I'm gonna go for Multi-media Arts or something else. What about you?"
"Most likely Engineering," Sarah said, "Well, I gotta go. We can chat later. Are you ready to lose in that game again?"
"Ha! I've got plenty of skill left in me so you might as well bring your A-game," Emily scoffed,
"Says the girl who lost to me 50 times," Sarah said,
"This time will be different!"
"Save the smack talk till after the game,"
With that, Emily and Sarah walked out of the school. Sarah rode on her bike while Emily strapped in her helmet as she rode on her own bike. They both said their good-byes and rode away.
By the time Emily arrived at her house, she noticed that she didn't her mom's car parked in the garage. Emily went inside only to find Aunt Samantha eating chips in the living room and watching a show on TV.
"Oh, you're back!" Aunt Samantha said, "Did you get your report card?"
"Yep," Emily replied as she handed her aunt the report card.
Aunt Samantha looked at the report card and looked impressed, "Not bad," she complimented,
"Thanks," Emily said, "Say, why's mom not back yet?"
"Oh, about that," Aunt Samantha said, "She just called me and said that she might be late coming home,"
"Oh," Emily said, "I'll just be in my room now,"
"Your lunch is in the kitchen," Aunt Samantha told her, "Better eat first,"
"Thanks, Aunt Samantha," Emily said as she walked towards the kitchen. She saw that it's Fried rice with scrambled eggs and ate it. Then she went upstairs, changed her clothes, and went to her laptop as she sets up her headset and preparing for the game.
