It was almost 7.30 in the evening when the phone at my desk started ringing.
"Good evening. This is BigHit Entertainment. Who might this be?"
I heard a chuckle from the other side.
"It's me Mrs. Lauren."
"Boss. You need something?"
"Are you off yet? I could use a cup of coffee."
"Please."
"Huh?"
"You need to say please after asking for a favor."
I said through gritted teeth.
"Oh. I apologize. Please, get me a cup of coffee."
I hung up and hurried to get him his "Café au lait".
I met Jeremy, a workmate in the kitchen. Yes, our office building had a huge kitchen where employees could freaking cook for themselves. Whatever.
I gave him a polite smile and he returned it. I avoided unnecessary conversation cause I was already late. Rushing back I came across Mrs. Chen and winked at her. She nodded.
I practically sprinted to His cabin and knocked twice before hearing an oh-so-familiar-grunt.
I placed the coffee on his desk.
"I'll take my leave now."
He nodded.
I noticed 7 missed calls from mom. Seven?
I dialled her back.
"Where have you been Lauren. Get home asap."
"Hey mom."
'Hey mom', she muttered.
"Eun Jin has been throwing up for long. She called me this evening saying that her tummy hurts, Jason is here too."
"Don't worry mum. I'll get there now. Send Stacey to her bedroom."
I hung up.
"Lauren."
I heard Mr. Taehyung say from behind.
I turned around to face him. His deep brown eyes returned my gaze. I gave him a questioning look.
"You seem worried."
I smiled at him.
"Family stuff. Gotta head home. See you tomorrow."
"Tomorrow's Sunday."
"I know but you have work to do on weekends as well."
He gave me a guilty smile.
"If I'm not wrong."
I added.
"Come on, I'll send you home."
"It's alright-"
"I'm not going to eat you. Will get you home, in one piece."
He cracked. I felt my muscles ease at his remarks.
"Fine."
Grabbing my bag, we head towards the elevator door.
"Even though I have my own office cabin here, I rather have another working place."
I sneaked a peek at him.
His eyes looked slightly darker than usually, almost black. The hazel specks in them had disappeared. The low lights of the lift highlighted his facial features. He looked beautiful, like an idol himself.
He stared back at me.
"What's wrong?"
You are beautiful.
I wanted to say but I swallowed back my words just in case they boost his already huge ego.
"What do you mean? Don't you work here?"
"I don't. You see composing of songs needs a peaceful place. The voice speaks from within. I have a small mansion on the outskirts of Seoul. I work there. I used to anyways."
I gave him a questioning look as I followed him to the garage.
"I don't produce music anymore."
I didn't push him further. Gently touched his arm and smiled softly.
"You've been busy Laur."
Jason.
I swiftly turned around to confront him.
"As you might already know. I don't lie."
I gave him a fake smile.
"We had a date."
He spat back. Tae- Mr. Kim narrowed his eyes at him.
"You did Mister. She's busy. See you around."
My boss opened the door to the passenger seat. I slid in not looking at Jason again.
Mr. Kim entered the car from the other side.
The rest of our ride was spent mute. He dropped me off home and accompanied me to the door.
"Thank you Mr. Kim."
"No issues. It's Taehyung by the way."
"I would love to invite you in but-"
"It's alright Lauren. We all have duties to tend to. I won't bother you. Sweet dreams."
I gave him a soft smile.
"Good night, Taehyung."
He watched as I got in and closed the door behind me.
I heard the car engine burst back to life.
