Chapter 3 - Chapter Two

Adanna

He OD'd

We were forced to come to school even with David in the hospital. She didn't want the little ones involved in any of this so I had to smile and pretend like nothing was wrong. Like he wasn't laying on what could've been his death bed.

How could he? He promised me he'd get better. That he'd set his life back on track, school was meant to be his top priority most of his set mates were already in universities chasing their dreams. He had to repeat an entire class with me,his little sister.

It rained this morning, he always loved the rain I never missed the chance to tease my half naked brother dancing on the streets under the rain.

He said it helped him clear his mind. it freed him of his burdens, washing away his sorrows through tears.

What were you thinking David? I could've lost you this time.

A loud wolf whistle cut my spiralling thoughts short I turned in response to it.

"Chris?"

Chris was part of my brother's crew, The leader of the entire "gang" but there was always something about him that ticked me off, he had a dark side, it was intriguing as it was scary.

"Where's David?" He asked backing me up against the wall. David was the only reason any one of his crew members would be here.

"Hospital" I gulped trying to find a way to escape.

"Huh,Well aren't you pretty" Gently stroking my cheek with his finger he pulled me close.

"I guess you'll be seeing a lot more of me then" he mumbled stepping away. As if today wasn't sad enough already just great.

________

"Mum?" I called out, her car was parked outside meaning she was back home from work. Ushering Chioma and Simdi into their room I made my way towards hers.

"Mum?" Photos of family members and early birthdays were scattered all over her bed. She was perched in between sipping on her glass.

"What did I do wrong?" She asked ripping the photo in her hand to shreds.

"What is this, karma?!" Furious tears rolled down her cheeks, the glass slipped from her grip but I acted fast enough to catch it.

"I'm running out of options, what else can I do Ada? I'm loosing him. My baby boy"

"Shhh" I cooed rocking her in my arms. I was worried too, they weren't much options left for David. What if there was nothing else that could be done? What then?

She passed out a few minutes later, I tip toed my way down the stairs. They were still here? Ikenna was passed out on the sofa, he should be tired he's been running around all day. Setting things up for David.

This was supposed to be his break back from school but instead here he is.

"How is she?" My Aunt Myra as well stayed over, worried about my Mum. I couldn't blame her, If my mum was in her shoes she'd be worried as well.

"She's asleep now, although she was drinking" That's the thing about my mum, she turned to alcohol anytime things got really bad. A sad habit she picked up cause of my dad and with all that's been going on with David, it seems to be getting even worse.

"Mia, you should rest too. I need to run back to the hospital so take care I'll see you when I get back"

No doubt to check up on David again. He had us running around with our tails in between our legs.

"What do I do now?" Do I just go to bed knowing my mum could wake up any moment, still a hot mess?

"You still do that?" Startled I turned to face him. Shouldn't he be asleep? His eyes were still closed but you could tell he was holding back a smile.

"What?"

"Talk to your self when you think no one's watching" Chuckling, he popped an eye open.

"Go to bed Adanna" I sighed making my way back to my room. Maybe I should.

A/N: it's just a filler that's why its really short.
