I did my best to win this fight, I could not lose this control no matter what. It stopped after a while, as I felt normal again. Before I made any further move I saw a word pop up in the screen, from the recovered file. It showed the word "Venus"
Without thinking anything I uttered the word in the phone, and luckily whoever was on the other side was convinced.
"Yesterday was a failure, when is the next date?" That voice asked me. Whoever it was wanted to keep their identity secret, which is why they used some kind of mechanical voice machine.
"Now is not a good time, Contact me two days later." I said in a flat tone hoping that would be convincing enough. Just what kind of mess was this woman a part of? The person disconnected the call and all of stared at each other for a whole moment.
"I am getting a really bad feeling about this."Oliver was the first one to break silence.
"Who do you think that person was? A serial killer? Maybe she hired him or her to kill me, instead of actually doing it."
"That seems like a too minor issue to go at such lengths to keep the phone protected. That too with a password that is stored in a corrupted file."Oliver told us.
"At least the password was here." Ken shrugged.
"Oh my god!!" I suddenly put my both my hand on my forehead as realisation dawned over me.
"What's wrong?" They asked me confused.
"We just broke her secret vault! If she is more dangerous than we think she is, we are screwed. And more than that, it puts my 'alive' family in danger as well." I felt the heartbeat of this body rise.
"Wait a minute." Ken cleared his throat before clicking his fingers. Suddenly the vault returned to its original form. He winked and smirked cockily.
"You can reverse time?" I asked him perplexed at what just happened.
"No!" He said defensively. "I can just undo what I have done using my powers, that's all." He shrugged. "God, I wish I could do that, I would reverse us all, to back when we were alive."He snorted.
I spend my duty hours trying to find anything, it was surprising how professional everything was in here. I tried my best not to chat with them, because if someone saw me, they would think I was just talking to myself.
I went back their home, but before I could open the door Mrs Murphy found me. Turns out Momo was there waiting for me, apparently there was some mishap at their school, so she came back early. I thanked her for taking care of her. She also told me about my 'cousin' who came to visit me yesterday.
I was just going to dump this woman in the bed and leave, but if I did who would take care of my daughter? Not that she would trust me, but at least with me in this body, she was safe. I told Oliver and Ken to return to Paradise, I will go back later.
It was getting late, so I decided to cook for us. Did I know how to cook? Well I guess I was about to figure out. There were not enough ingredients jn the fridge for a decent meal. So, I was left with no other choice but to order a takeout.
Of course it took me a while to figure out how to operate this app, did I never do that before? Anyways, I was surprised when the door bell rang within five minutes of my order.
The app showed me twenty minutes, did the person fly here?
I opened the door and suddenly was engulfed in a giant bear hug. I was not comfortable with touching other people, but somehow I did not flinch away from this hug, it's warmth felt oddly comforting.
I looked up a few moments later to see Tim holding me tightly, I couldn't help but ask him, "What's going on? You okay?
"I know I was not supposed to be back today, but…I missed you."He smiled forcefully. I could tell he was lying.
"Be honest."I told him sternly.
"I… had a nightmare. I had the same one every night I was away" He managed to say. "I was reminded of the accident and got worried. I know it's crazy and you are fine, but still I am so scared."
I felt a sudden ache in my heart, how do I explain to this thankful guy that his fears are real? That I was not here anymore? The way he was torn apart by just the thought of me dying how much he will break down when he finds out I already did.
Few days ago I was dying to establish my death, nut seeing how much it will affect them, I wasn't so sure anymore. At the same time I cannot leave them at that witch's mercy. She will kill them sooner or later, she was that dangerous. Why? Why do I have to make such difficult decision? No matter what I do, it will end up hurting them. It breaks my heart just to think about it.
"Promise me something, you will stay with me. You will not leave me, leave us, no matter what." He asked me sincerely.
"I looked at him, fighting back my tears as I nodded. "Yes, I promise." He never said I can't be there as a ghost. I will look over them forever, I was stuck in this world anyways.
