It took me some time to leave because it felt odd leaving them abruptly. A part of me was dying to stay here, but in my heart I knew, that was wrong. I ate dinner with them as promised. Turns out, Timothy himself bought some food on the way, so there was more than enough food for us.
I left their house way after midnight. To say that I was not reluctant at all to leave them would be an understatement. But I had to, I could not keep possessing her forever. Given her resistance it would be too dangerous for me and my family.
Which also made me worried, today Timothy interacted with me, there is no way she would not realise that she is missing a whole day. I hope that whatever excuse she comes up with, it does not affect them. At this point I did not care if I disappeared. I just did not want to put them in trouble.
I was surprised to see everyone gathered around in my room, especially Margaret. Is she not mad at me anymore? I still tried to avoid her gaze, afraid of taking the conversation in the wrong direction.
"So, I hope everything is alright? She was the first one to ask me. "They… told me everything that happened today. I hope that's alright?" She asked me politely. I simply nodded at her.
"They think she has commissioned a serial killer?" She looks at him.
"That's just one theory. They way things were around her, but especially that phone call, I think she is a part of something bigger." Oliver shrugged.
"Also I think her favourite planet is Venus" Ken snorted, trying to ease the tension in the room. When he saw our blank faces he frowned. "Nevermind."
"So what do you want to do now?" Margaret asked me.
"Well, for now I think we should keep tailing them. She seems secretive about a lot of things. If we are to figure out everything, we need to keep tailing her."
"Sounds about right." She approved.
"Wait, for real??" I asked her. She is okay with my plan? It seemed pretty bland though
"Yes, we are here for that only. I was hoping it won't take much long, but if it takes that long to get to the bottom of it, so be it." She folded her hands and let out a deep breath. "Besides, I am someone who cannot let go of suspicious things that easily, until everything is clear." She shrugged.
"Aren't you worried she will see you?"Oliver asked.
"I am, but it's a risk I am willing to take." I said with utmost determination. "Can I make another request?"
"Go on." Margaret told me sceptically.
"Can any of you follow my daughter and Timothy?" I asked them. "It's just that, if she did hire a serial killer to kill me, she can do the same for them. I don't really expect her to make an exception just because she is a kid. The way I saw her treat my baby today, she will not hesitate to do anything. She is pure evil." My words were filled with hate.
"Don't you want to follow her?" Oliver asked.
"I do, but I am also curious about what is she upto for real. Stealing my life does not seem to be her biggest motivation." I shrugged.
"How about this…" Ken who was silent for most of the discussion spoke up. "…we take turns? You know, let's take turns following them, this way none of us will be bored or miss anything. At the end of the day we can gather around and talk about how the day went" He looked at us hoping for a positive response.
"Will that be okay?"I asked unsure
"Yeah let's do that." Margaret agreed with me, while Oliver simply nodded.
"Okay! So tomorrow who is going where?" Ken asked.
"You go with Chloe and follow that woman." Margaret told him. "If anything tricky happens you can take care of it well. I'll follow the daughter. You can follow Timothy, I already followed him once, I don't want to do it again." She stated blatantly.
All of us agreed on that and we decided to call it a night.
Before Margaret left she motioned to follow her. So I followed her to the corridors to see what she wanted. I was really scared of having a one-on-one conversation with her, is she going to burst out at me like that again?
"Listen, I am… not the most open person around here… which I guess makes it… difficult to approach me." She tried to say as nicely as possible. "So it's cool, if you don't want to share anything. But I will try not be to too judgemental if you do decide to tell me."
I looked at her in awe, what was going on? Unable to say anything I just simply looked at her and nodded.
"Also, let's forget the arguments we had before you left, shall we?" It sounded like she was trying to make a request, but it ended up sounding like an order anyway. I bit my lip to prevent myself from laughing. This was quiet adorable.
"I would very much like that." I smiled at her.
"Goodnight." She said and left. I know there was no 'sorry' in her long speech, but it still sounded like an apology to me. I guess it hard for her to say that, nonetheless I sincerely appreciated her saying those words to me.
