After Fifth Avenue Square's performance, Scott had the boys along with Cassie, Lexie and the other studio producers to wait outside the recording booth so he could talk privately to Roxie. It had been 30 minutes since and there was still no sign of either Roxie or Scott coming out of the recording booth and it was making everyone; especially Nathan, very anxious.
"It's been over 30 minutes already! Scott should be done talking to Roxie by now?!" Nathan said impatiently.
"Nathan, relax; these decisions take an immense amount of time. You just have to be patient." Cassie said.
"Cassie's right mate. These decisions take an immense amount of thinking and strategizing. It's not like Scott is going to hand the job right away to Roxie." Paul mentioned.
"Not to mention the poor girl had to work her arse off with you lot to show as proof that she's able to handle a job like this one." Annie added.
"I think what everybody is trying to say is that you have to trust Roxie on this part love. She's a smart girl; Roxie will be fine." Auntie Lizzie reassured him. All of a sudden the recording studio door opened and both Roxie and Scott walked out of the room. Nathan, along with his cousins, his aunt, Cassie, Paul, Landon and Calvin stood up and looked at the two of them waiting for either one of them to say something about Roxie getting the personal assistant position.
"So; is Roxie going to be our new personal assistant?" Paul asked Scott.
"You boys gave me a hard one to pass up. There was no bloody way I was going to let someone like Roxie not be your new personal assistant." Scott stated.
"Wait; does that mean?" Cassie asked.
"Yep; I'm the boys' new personal assistant and you, Cassie; are going to have a record deal." Roxie said. When the group heard the news, all four boys along with Cassie, Annie and Tom started jumping and screaming for joy. Cassie then hugged Roxie and tears started to run down her cheeks. Then Paul, Calvin and Landon went and hugged Roxie to congratulate her on being their new personal assistant.
"Alright; that's enough celebrating for now. You lads and ladies have a lot of work to do. Boys; we need to finish recording all the songs for the next album. Not to mention, you, Cassie need to at least have some kind of single. I'll see if I can get the company to let Cassie be your boys' opening act on the next tour, which we still need to finalize as soon as possible. In the meantime; Nathan can I talk to both you and Roxie privately?" Scott informed them. Nathan and Roxie then joined Scott back in the recording studio. "Now, Lexie has told me all about your little run in with each other and how, you Nathan; are looking for a publisher for Roxie. What has been the process on that situation?" he asked Nathan.
"So far I've gotten no answer from anyone yet. Do you think you will be able to get that one publisher that published me and the lad's book from last year to help out?" Nathan replied.
"I'll see what I can do, but I won't guarantee anything just yet. However, I do want to point out this one predicament: if there's a possibility that I do end up getting a publisher that will give you a publishing deal Roxie, but it's back in the US you may have to go back to the States to get your book published. Are you willing to make that sacrifice with also being the boys' new personal assistant?" Scott asked her. For a moment Roxie was very quiet. She had finally pulled off becoming Fifth Avenue Square's new personal assistant. The only problem now was that she had completely forgotten why she had travelled to the UK in the first place. Roxie couldn't believe that she had forgotten about her career of becoming an author so quickly with all of the many tasks she had to do to prove herself worthy to get the job as being Fifth Avenue Square's new personal assistant. She had been so caught up in helping the boys with their next album that she completely forgot about her own career.
"To be honest, I'm not sure if I can handle it. I've been too caught up in trying to become the boys' new personal assistant, but I can assure you that I will work harder than anyone else." Roxie told him.
"That's the answer I like to hear. I have to admit Nathan; you proved me wrong about hiring someone close to your age. This gal's got spunk I like it." Scott admitted.
"I couldn't agree more." Nathan replied. Roxie's cheeks started to turn deep red. It was right then and there, Roxie realized that whatever decision she made in the past month was worth it all.
As the day went on; the boys, Cassie and Roxie went back to The Smouldering Hog to celebrate Roxie's new job and Cassie's signing to Fifth Avenue Square's record label.
"I still can't believe Scott gave you the job for being our new personal assistant. He's usually very strict when it comes to a job like that." Calvin said.
"I know; I guess Scott liked my New York charm too much and realized he couldn't pass up on an opportunity like the one he had this afternoon at the recording studio." Roxie teased.
"Well one thing for sure is that we proved Scott wrong about hiring someone close to our age. I say that is something to drink to tonight." Landon added.
"Speaking of drinks I better go find Annie and pay the tab. We've got a long day tomorrow at the studio and you five need to get some rest." Roxie stated.
"But the celebrating just barely started!?" the others complained.
"Hey; I may have not been that strict a few weeks ago, but now that I have this new job I got to keep a close eye on you four boys and Cassie. That also includes you Nathan, don't think I don't know all of your little games and tricks when it comes to staying out late and partying." Roxie replied. Roxie then left the booth and went over to the bar to pay for the group's meal and drinks.
"It seems to me that you've met your match mate." Paul told Nathan.
"Yeah, but Roxie will cool down in a few weeks. Besides; I've come up with an idea on a date for me and Roxie." Nathan sighed.
"Really; what do you have planned for this special evening?"
"Eh; it's nothing too special. I'm just taking her out to dinner and exploring the city." Nathan admitted.
"Hold on; you are going to treat my best friend to dinner and a tour of London, England? That sounds a bit shocking." Cassie remarked.
"Yeah, I would think you'd take her to a five star restaurant and then the cinemas." Paul added.
"That actually was my first idea, but Roxie isn't that kind of girl. Besides, I really want to try to keep the date easy and simple." Nathan explained.
"Wow; now that's something you don't hear everyday." Calvin chuckled.
"How so?"
"Well, usually when it comes to dating you try to go all out to impress the girl." Calvin said.
"Yeah, not to mention I've been noticing a little change in you ever since Roxie started staying with us." Paul mentioned.
"That is not true!" Nathan retorted.
"Oh, come on Nate; the girl has been staying with us at the house for a month now. Don't think we don't notice the way you two have been getting too close with each other." Landon remarked.
At that point Nathan knew Landon was right. Since that first night Roxie had walked into the pub, Nathan's life has drastically changed in ways that he can never imagine. It was like Roxie was changing him for the better and Nathan was ok with all of the changes. Nathan just didn't know that those small changes were going to make him the person he always wanted to become.
