Chapter 30 - Chapter 30

Nathan instantly followed Uncle Hank with Roxie right behind him.

"Uncle Hank; are you sure you want to help us? I'm pretty sure either Annie or-oh, my gosh!" Nathan shrieked once he had gotten to the shed.

"Nathan; will you please just-whoa." Roxie said. To both Nathan and Roxie's surprise; Uncle Hank in fact did own a motorbike.

"Is that what I think it is?" Roxie asked Nathan.

"Yeah; I'm not dreaming either. Uncle Hank; how do-where in the world did you-?" Nathan asked.

"Relax; the bike technically isn't mine."

"What do you mean? Who's motorbike is it; because Lord knows there is no bloody way you would ever let Tom or Annie own a motorbike." Nathan stated.

"You're right; I would have never let Tom or Annie have a motorbike; but your father had a different idea." Uncle Hank admitted.

"Wait a minute; are you saying that this motorbike actually belonged to Nathan's dad?" Roxie said.

"Right before you were born Nathan; your dad got a phone call from his band mates saying that music producer wanted to give the record deal got the approval from the record company and that the band along with your father were to leave for America that night. However; around that same time your dad got the phone call; your mum was giving birth to you. Your father wanted to do the right thing and say with your mum, but he also didn't want to let his band mates down. So I did what any guy would do and tried me best to reason him and support him with whatever choice that he made that night. Sadly; the stubborn arse chose his career of being a musician over you and your mum, but right before he left us he gave me the keys to that motorbike and said that I should give you the bike when the time is right. By the looks of things; I think the timing is about right; eh?" Uncle Hank explained.

"You do have a good point, but why didn't you tell me about the motor bike until now? Why keep it a secret from me all these years?" Nathan asked.

"I did want to tell you; believe me, but your mum didn't want you to waste your life away with some false hope that your dad still cared about you. So I kept the motorbike hidden from everyone and anyone since then. I truly am sorry about this being the outcome." Uncle Hank apologized.

"It's fine; I understand why now. It's just a lot to take in right now. I think I need some space." Nathan said. Nathan then started to walk back towards the pub; leaving Roxie and Uncle Hank alone with the motorbike.

"Roxie; I really hope I didn't ruin your plans for today." Uncle Hank sighed.

"No, of course you didn't. You were just trying to protect Nathan from the truth of his father. Why don't I try to talk to him?" Roxie reassured him. Uncle Hank nodded his head silently and Roxie patted his shoulder and walked back over to the pub.

Back at the pub; Nathan was in the kitchen cleaning up the pots and pans that he used for breakfast. As he was cleaning up everything; Nathan couldn't help but think about his dad. Nathan didn't know that much about his actual father. From what Nathan had heard from his family; Nathan's father was the lead guitarist of the band he was in when he was younger, a very talented musician and was about close to Nathan's height. In fact if you put Nathan and his father next to each other; you could say that they look somewhat similar to each other.

After a while had passed; Roxie had entered the small pub and found Nathan staring at a picture of himself, his mom along with Uncle Hank, Auntie Lizzie and his two cousins outside the pub.

"So; that was pretty unexpected," Roxie admitted. Nathan chuckled in agreement and just kept staring at the photo. "You ok? If what happened earlier was a bit too much for you to handle and you want to cancel our plans; I'd totally understand." she pointed out.

"No, it's fine. It's just-I don't know how to necessarily say this, but when it comes to my family, it's not one of the greatest topics I'd like to bring up on a first date." Nathan admitted.

"Look, I'm not going to be that person that usually says its totally supportive and completely understands what you're going through because that is just bullshit. Trust me; I've learned it the hard way after my mom and dad divorced. Now; if it were me in this situation that you're in right now; I can mope and stare at this picture wishing that my life could be different or you can take my hand and possibly make today the best day of your life." Roxie stated as she held out her had. It was there; in that moment, Nathan knew that his life was changing for the better.

Meanwhile, back at the pub's shed; Uncle Hank was about to stow away the motorbike when all of a sudden Nathan and Roxie had returned to the shed.

"Huh, I'd never figured you both be back here again." Uncle Hank said.

"Well, Roxie and I still need to find a way to get to North London and I've got to admit; your offer on us using my dad's motorbike does sound very tempting." Nathan mentioned.

"What made you change your mind?"

"Let's just say today was a day I realized that if I want the best moments of my life to happen; I need to quit looking at the past." Nathan admitted.

"Well, in that case; I guess I better give you these." Uncle Hank replied as he handed the keys to the motorbike to Nathan. Once Nathan took the keys from Uncle Hank, he got this strange feeling in his stomach. Nathan obviously shook the feeling away, went over to where the motorbike was standing and rolled it out of the shed to the front of the pub with Roxie following right behind him.

"Nathan; I know that this probably sounds a bit cheesy but you don't happen to see any helmets in the garage?" Roxie asked.

"No, you getting nervous?"

"No, I'm just realizing that I'm riding a motorcycle for the first time and I have no idea if you even know how to ride a motorcycle." Roxie admitted.

"Roxie, relax; if it makes you feel any better I can go back to the shed and look for a couple of helmets and as for your concern about wondering if I actually know how to ride a motorbike; I actually do have some experience in handling a motorbike." Nathan reassured her. Then Nathan left Roxie alone with the motorbike in the front of the pub. All of a sudden Roxie's cell phone started to ring and to Roxie's relief it was only Cassie.

"Hey; I'm surprised you're up early." Roxie giggled.

"Yeah, Paul and I were thinking of making everyone breakfast this morning. Besides Lexie's supposed to stop by the house today with some album designs for my debut album and the boys' next album. Anyway, enough of what's going on over here at the house; how's it going with your little adventure with Nathan?" Cassie asked.

"It's actually going really nice. You would think that since Nathan is some 'big shot' celebrity he would take me to some fancy 5 star restaurant in the heart of London; but instead he brings me here to his family's pub, cooks me a full English breakfast which was hands down amazing and now we're about to ride on his dad's old motorcycle all the way to North London." Roxie explained.

"Wait, Nathan's dad had an old motorcycle?"

"Believe me Nathan and I were just as surprised as you, but that's another story for another time." Roxie stated.

"Wow; it sounds like you got a whole different perspective of Nathan after all." Cassie chuckled.

"No kidding; I've been getting that feeling ever since I met him. It's even making me feel horrible whenever I'd think about all the times I would criticise about all the insane drama Nathan used to do whenever we see it in the tabloids or on the Internet." Roxie sighed.

"Well, think of it this way; before you arrived in the UK and entered the boys' lives, everything was in complete chaos. Nathan was this crazy party animal who didn't give a crap if he ended up in jail and all his band mates, management team and his family could do was to just let him be. Then you come along, out of nowhere; and help out the band with writing their next album, get Nathan to open up and trust you and then become the band's new personal assistant while at the same time are getting assistance from the biggest band of our generation for your writing career. People like you and me would kill to be in our shoes right now." Cassie stated.

"Yeah, I guess you're right. I just never thought that a girl like me from San Francisco, California would be able to say that I was able to stay in Fifth Avenue Square's house, be their new personal assistant and now be able to go on an adventure with Nathan Hendrickson!" Roxie shrieked. Cassie just laughed through the phone and enjoyed Roxie's happiness. All of a sudden Roxie heard a rustling noise behind her.

"Hey, it sounds like Nathan is close by which means this could be the last time you are probably going to hear from me today."

"Are you crazy?! You are not going to call or text me after this conversation! How else are the boys and I going to keep in contact with you and Nathan?" Cassie remarked.

"I had a feeling you were going to say that. Look I brought my camera with me so I'm going to take as many pictures as I can while I'm on my adventure with Nathan. Anyway, I got to go."

"Fine, but you are telling me and Annie everything tomorrow." Cassie replied.

"Don't worry Cas I will. I really have to go." Roxie said. Roxie then hung up her cell phone and turned it off.

"No cell phone?" Nathan asked.

"Yeah, I kind of figured if I'm going on this 'midnight adventure' with you today, I'm going to try not get so distracted by being on my phone all the time and just enjoy the time that I've got with you." Roxie explained.

"Oh, well then in that case I might as well do the same thing. But first I need to take a picture of you wearing this motorbike helmet." Nathan said as he handed Roxie one of the motorbike's helmets that he found in the pub's shed earlier. Roxie couldn't help but laugh and giggle at Nathan's sarcastic remark. She then grabbed the helmet and tried it on and, in a jokingly cute manner; modeled with the helmet on for Nathan. Nathan then took out his cell phone and took a few pictures of Roxie.

Meanwhile, in the pub; Uncle Hank was secretly keeping an eye on both Roxie and Nathan while they were messing around with the motorbike helmets. Around that same time, Auntie Lizzie was just entering the kitchen from the back stairway that was located in the kitchen. When she had entered the kitchen and saw the pots and pans that Nathan had used for Roxie's breakfast, Auntie Lizzie was surprised of how spotless and clean the kitchen was once Nathan and Roxie had finished cooking and eating their meal. Usually, Auntie Lizzie would have had to clean up after Nathan once he had finished using the kitchen. All of a sudden caught a glimpse of Uncle Hank spying on Nathan and Roxie.

"Hank; darling, what are you doing?" She asked her husband.

"Shh; Nathan will hear you?!"

"Oh please; Nathan is too focused on Roxie to even notice let alone hear his own aunt. As for his uncle spying on him; that's a whole different story," Auntie Lizzie stated. All of a sudden Auntie Lizzie noticed the motorbike that was standing in the front of the pub that was next to both Nathan and Roxie. "Is that what I think it is?" she asked Uncle Hank.

"Yes it is; I'm surprised you still recognize it after all these years." Uncle Hank chuckled.

"Well of course I would remember that old thing! You knew how jealous I was whenever Lilly got to go on her adventures with Mark on his motorbike." Auntie Lizzie remarked.

"Yeah, I remember; your face would just scrunch up and you will come over to me and Bernie pouting and crying about how you wanted our relationship to be like Lilly and Mark's relationship. Those were great times."

"That is true; but honestly dear, do you really think Nathan is ready for this big responsibility? The boy just barely got out of his last run in with the coppers." Auntie Lizzie pointed out.

"You don't think I don't know that Lizzie?! Why do you think I'm over here watching them? I mean, yes; it may have been a bit rash to give Nathan his own father's old motorbike, but you've got to admit, the boy has changed ever since Roxie has entered that boy's life." Uncle Hank stated.

"You are right on that part. Frankly Roxie happens to be the only girl I happen to like that Nathan has dated. Anyway; I'm going to start cooking breakfast. Don't stay out too long, you still got to make the deliveries this morning." Auntie Lizzie said. Uncle Hank nodded his head and continued to spy on Nathan and Roxie for a few more minutes until he turned to head towards the kitchen.
