Chapter 32 - Chapter 32

It took a while for Roxie and Nathan to get to the concert venue since the concert was located in an outdoor arena. Since traffic didn't turn out to be that much of a struggle with the motorbike, the only issue Nathan and Roxie had to deal with was finding a good place to park the motorbike. Now, from what Roxie can remember with motorcycles in the US; some concert venues would have at least one designated area or parking spot for people that have a motorcycle. In the UK, however; concert venues were allowed to have at least two to three designated parking areas for motorcycles. Since traffic wasn't that much of a hassle for both Nathan and Roxie (and that there was plenty of parking spaces); finding a place to park the motorbike wasn't a big problem. Once the couple had parked the motorbike and had left the parking lot, both Nathan and Roxie walked over to the outdoor theater. From Roxie's point of view, the exterior of the concert venue looked like a vintage looking movie theater. Like every usual theater; the venue had the usual marquee with the acts and performers names on the front along with the concert date and time. Color wise; the building had an art deco/Victorian gothic style. When the couple entered the theater, however; Roxie's point of view changed drastically.

The interior of the theater was majestic. The main entrance of the theater had the typical necessities like restrooms, a snack bar, an actual bar for selling alcohol and a designated area for vendors to sell the artist's merchandise. But what stunned Roxie the most was where the actual stage was located. Since the theater was at an indoor/outdoor concert venue; Roxie thought that everything was going to be mostly indoors. To Roxie's surprise; the food and drinks were inside, while the actual concert was in this Greek-styled amphitheater arena decked out with string lights, vaulted rafters and stadium seating arrangements.

"You seem a bit shocked." Nathan chuckled.

"Well, yeah; this venue is incredible! I'd never seen anything like this before." Roxie replied.

"Just wait until the actual concert starts, then you'll be even more amazed about this theater." Nathan said. Then Nathan and Roxie went over to their seats and waited patiently for the concert to start. As they were waiting, some fans came over to take pictures with Nathan. Once the fan encounters have died down a bit; an awkward silence came between the couple.

"Do you want to meet the band?" Nathan finally asked Roxie.

"Sure, at least it'll get me out of being bored for an hour." Roxie teased. Nathan and Roxie then got out of their seats and started walking towards one of the security guards that was standing on the left side of the stage. Luckily for Nathan and Roxie; Nathan was pretty familiar with how concert venue security guards would portray themselves before, during and after a concert.

"Nathan; are you sure that the security guard will let us go backstage? The guy seems pretty professional at his job." Roxie said.

"Roxie; the lads and I have played many shows here at this venue. Plus Gavin used to be an opening act for me and the lads last year on tour and I became really good friends with mostly all of the security at each concert venue. I got this in the bag," Nathan said confidently. Nathan then left Roxie near the front of the stage and continued walking towards the security guard by the left side of the stage. "Watch this." Nathan mouthed as he turned around and faced Roxie. Roxie then silently giggled and shook her head.

"Excuse me mate; I'm here with this friend of mine and I was wondering if the two of us could go backstage to meet the band. You see; I'm good mates with Gavin Simmons." Nathan mentioned.

"Sorry chap; no one goes backstage. Company's orders," the security guard remarked. "Unless you've got some type of proof of being really good pals with Gavin; I suggest that you and your little girlfriend go back to your seats." he added.

"Fine; you want proof? I'll call Gavin on my cell phone right here, right now in front of everybody and we'll see who's lying right now." Nathan retorted. Nathan then took out his cell phone and dialed Gavin's number.

Meanwhile, Roxie was standing and observing Nathan acting like a complete idiot. Roxie knew that it wasn't going to be easy for both Nathan and Roxie to get backstage to meet Gavin Simmons. The concert was probably going to start in a half an hour and not to mention concert viewers were already finding their seats for the show. Plus the band was probably getting their hair and makeup and were on a tight schedule; so they couldn't be interrupted by any last minute autographs or meet and greets by any fans who were going to watch the band perform that night. So Roxie knew from her basic point of view; Nathan's plan of trying to let the concert venue's security guard get her and Nathan backstage to meet Gavin and his band mates were going to fail miserably. However; somewhere deep down, Roxie knew that Nathan had a way of getting the couple backstage. It wasn't that Roxie didn't have any faith in Nathan, she just had a strange feeling that Nathan was going to pull any kind of miracle at all that day it would be on this adventure with her. All of a sudden, Nathan started to walk back towards Roxie.

"No luck?" Roxie teasingly asked him.

"Not exactly. We may have a possible chance to meet Gavin before he goes on stage to perform. It's just going to be when the opening acts for the tour perform or when his set for tour is getting set up onto the stage. Either way one of Gavin's tour team members is going to come get us from our seats and take us backstage," Nathan explained. "In the meantime, we're free to grab a bite to eat or something to drink from the snack bar or buy some merchandise." he added.

"Huh; well, ok then lets see- what do you want to do?"

"Me?"

"Yeah, you; who else am I talking to right now? Besides you were the one that asked me if I wanted to come with you to the concert. Plus I also want to know what you like to do whenever you go see other artists perform live in concert." Roxie stated.

"Ok, well then in that case; you better brace yourself for one hell of a night because this will be one adventure you won't forget." Nathan said.
