Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Once Roxie was done talking to Fifth Avenue Boy; she walked over to her closet to pick out a nice casual outfit to wear to her little outing with Cassie, Kyle and Garrett. When it comes to going out with her friends, Roxie usually stayed in the clothes she wore the outfit that she had on from work but since this was somewhat a special occasion; Roxie decided to at least change her T-shirt to a nice blouse and opt out her tennis shoes to either flats or a nice pair of sandals. As soon as she had her outfit ready; Roxie went to her bathroom and touched up her make up, got changed and walked into her apartment living room.

"So; how was your secret conversation with your long distant boyfriend?" Cassie asked while Roxie was coming back to the kitchen.

"It was fine and he is not my boyfriend. He is just some guy that I talk to on social media for fun." Roxie corrected her.

"That still makes him your boyfriend. You and Fifth Avenue Boy have been talking to each other for almost two years and you still haven't even met each other yet. How do you even know that he is a real person and not some scammer?" Cassie stated.

"Cassie; I've already told you, I believe that Fifth Avenue Boy is a real person because he just is. I can't explain it to you, but in my heart Fifth Avenue Boy is real and I know it sounds ridiculous, but I don't care." Roxie said.

"I know; I'm just worried about you that's all." Cassie told her.

"Cassie; you have been my college roommate and best friend ever since I started living in New York. I appreciate the fact that you want to keep an eye on me and that you love to keep an eye on me like an older sister, but I'm 20 years old and heading to a country that I've been dying to travel to since I was a kid. I'm pretty sure I can handle living in another big city and handling a long distant relationship all on my own." Roxie reassured her.

"I know; I just can't believe you're going to leave me pretty soon." Cassie cried. Roxie then went over to comfort her roommate. Roxie had no idea how much of a burden she was leaving Cassie until now. When Roxie had first mentioned her trip to the UK; Cassie was like a hovering helicopter or overprotective family relative. Cassie made sure that Roxie was staying in a decent town with at least one well run hostel, motel, or bed and breakfast for Roxie to stay in throughout her whole trip. In fact this was the reason why Roxie didn't want to say anything about her meeting Fifth Avenue Boy because Roxie knew that Cassie, Kyle and Garrett would have a heart attack and would want Roxie to either come back to New York or even make a trip over to the UK to stop Roxie from meeting with Fifth Avenue Boy.

"It's ok to be missing me right now. I promise that I will be back in 3 months and I have connected both of our laptops to that Face Chat system. Everything will be fine; I promise you." Roxie promised.

"Ok, god; I'm ruining my makeup. Anyway, we got to get to the bar. We're going to be late for your little Bon Voyage party." Cassie said. The two girls then grabbed their purses, walked out the door and headed towards the subway station.

"Can you do something for me while you're in London?" Cassie asked.

"Sure; what is it that you want me to do?"

"I did some research and it says that the music scene has grown tremendously in the past 4 years and I was wondering if you could give my demo CD to one of the recording companies over there. I know its too much to ask, but it's the least you can do for me while you're gone." Cassie said as she handed Roxie a CD.

"Cassie; I can't accept this favor. This is your dream; don't you want to be the one to accomplish it?"

"Look; at the rate that I'm going right now, it's probably going to take no more than 5 years for Carl to finally realize how talented I am. You, on the other hand; have seen me struggle with my dream of becoming a singer-songwriter countless of times and to be honest; your trip to the UK is my one last shot into making it into the big leagues. Roxie; what I'm trying to say is that you are my only hope for making my dreams a reality." Cassie explained.

"Yeah; but I highly doubt I'll ever run into some famous record producer while I'm over there. It's not like I'm going to run into Nathan Hendrickson on my first day in London, that would be impossible." Roxie said rhetorically.

"Hey, you never know what could happen. Maybe the two of you might run into each other at one of the pubs or night clubs that he likes to go to all the time." Cassie suggested.

"Oh, yeah; I could totally see myself giving your demo CD to some irresponsible pop star at a pub. That is so responsible of me." Roxie laughed.

"What is so responsible of you exactly?" Garrett asked them once the two girls arrived at the bar where Kyle worked at.

"Cassie thinks that it would be a great idea that I should help her out in finding a good record deal while I'm in London trying to find a publisher." Roxie said.

"Really; Cassie, what is your side of the story?" Garrett asked.

"I personally thinks that it's a good idea for Roxie to do this favor. There are a hefty amount of up and coming bands and solo artists coming from the UK now and who knows; maybe this opportunity could add some more exposure to Roxie's talent in writing." Cassie admitted.

"I actually see no harm in that idea." Garrett said.

"Wait a minute, you're actually agreeing with her on this stupid, no offense Cass; idea?" Roxie asked.

"None taken." Cassie smiled.

"I'm sorry, but I actually am considering it. I think this opportunity gives you two girls a chance to show how talented you guys really are with your writing and singing career." Garrett stated.

"It's a good thing I have you two knuckleheads working together while I'm gone because the both of you are equally insane. Now, if you'll excuse me; I'm going to order myself a pitcher of beer." Roxie remarked. Roxie then walked away leaving the two of them at the table where the group was going to hang out at the whole night.

"Hey there Ms. Writer; what can I get for you on this fine evening?" a voice asked.

"Hi Kyle; can I get two pitchers of my favorite beer and an order of the bar's unlimited wings and fries?" Roxie asked.

"Sure thing; what was with all of the commotion over there?"

"I'll tell you later; when does your shift end?"

"I should be done in about 15 to 20 minutes. Do you guys mind waiting that long for me?"

"As long as the beer and food keep coming; I think we'll be just fine." Roxie smiled.

"Alright; I'll see you later then." Kyle smirked. Roxie just rolled her eyes and walked back to the table where Garrett and Cassie were waiting for her. After a while passed, Kyle came to join the others with the two pitchers beer, wings and fries.

"Ok; we got two pitchers of some Hard Apple Ale along with the bar's famous unlimited boneless buffalo wings and garlic fries. So, what did you two knuckleheads say to my girl Roxie that made her so upset?" Kyle asked.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa; now before you sir start to point fingers at some people I think its best if you should ask Roxie yourself to see what was wrong with her." Garrett corrected him.

"Why do I have to tell him what happened to me? You guys are the two knuckleheads that started this whole commotion in the first place." Roxie remarked.

"Alright; all that we wanted for tonight was a peaceful night out so we could send Roxie off on her 3 month adventure in good spirits. Now; either you or Cassie explain to me what happened or I'll kick all three of you out onto the street." Kyle stated.

"Ok, fine; Kyle I want your opinion on some idea that I have in mind for Roxie while she's in the UK." Cassie said.

"Good, we're getting somewhere; what was the idea that you had in mind Cassie?"

"I was thinking that Roxie could help me out with my singing-songwriting career by getting more exposure for not only me, but also for her writing career if she, by chance; runs into any record producers in London. Now; I know that it's highly impossible to even get any record producer's attention, believe me I've had my fair share in that area. But this favor could be possibly be the best thing that could happen to both me and Roxie." Cassie explained.

"In my opinion; I think that is an amazing idea. Honestly Roxie, I don't see why you are getting so upset about some little favor." Kyle told her.

"Guys; you don't get it. If I help Cassie out with this favor, the record company or even the press is probably going to find out about me trying to become an author and that I'm only helping Cassie out just to gain more fame or better yet favoritism." Roxie argued.

"Roxie; you have done so much for all of us, especially for me when I was barely starting out as a singer-songwriter. People like me, Kyle or Garrett don't have opportunities like this where we can just drop everything in our lives and go travel to places like the UK just so we can go out and accomplish our dreams. Life doesn't work out that way, but you; you on the other hand don't see life that way. You see these moments as huge opportunities to go out and fight for what you want and if someone tries to blame you or create some story about looking for fame or favoritism; heck, I'll pack my bags and prove them wrong if I have to because you are my best friend." Cassie reassured her.

"Cassie's right; ever since I met you two on that first day of school, I knew in an instant that you girls were extremely talented. It's like Cassie said earlier; this opportunity could be the best or the worst thing that could happen for the both of you." Kyle admitted.

"Hey; you won't know unless you try, right?" Garrett added.

"Ok, fine; I'll do the favor for you Cassie. But I'm only doing this because you're my best friend and as a goodbye present." Roxie said. Then Cassie hugged Roxie and the four of them continued on with their little celebration.
