"So, you ready to be king?"
"Hell yeah!... How do I do that? Do I just walk up to him and say, hey dad I'm dethroning you, so leave the castle and never show your face again?" Daryl shook his head. Never in my life have i ever seen someone so stupid. Am i sure that I want him to be king?
"Just consult the crown councilors. Tell them that your father has done this and that, and because of such reasons, he should no longer be allowed to sit on the throne. You guys will sit with your dad and talk about his punishment, and also when to crown you. Makes sense now?" John nodded his head and headed to the door and left. Daryl felt a huge relief to have him out of his room. Now to catch on to that long awaited sleep.
"Hey bro, what on earth is The crown councilors?" Daryl peeked from under the sheets and let out a frustrated sigh. He got up and faced the idiotic soon to be king.
"What do you call them here? They have different names. Hmm. How about... The council of elders?"
"Nope."
"The kings consultants?"
"No."
"Old men?" How can he not know the crown council? Is he even a prince or does he just carry the title and flaunt with it?
"Oh! Now that rings a bell. Do you perhaps mean the... Group of oldies who talk about old people gossip? That's what they always seem to do." John said while shrugging his shoulders. Daryl slapped his forehead with his hand. How can a person be so stupid?
"Yes, I mean the group of oldies who talk about old people gossip. Imbecile." He muttered the last part to himself. John let out a sigh of exhaustion. He was way too lazy to do all that. He slumped on the stool, giving up. Why does it seem so difficult? Can't I just get there using an easy way, which doesn't involve that group of oldies? They always seem to yammer on and on never knowing when to shut up. Or maybe.....
"Hey, buddy. Can't you pull some strings? You know just say that I'm the new king and so it shall be?"
Daryl looked at the person in front of him. This dude isn't just an idiot, he's a lazy ass prince. Is he even worth helping?
"Wouldn't you feel better if you earned the title yourself? Plus this is a matter for the Arden citizens to solve for themselves. It doesn't involve me."
"Come on buddy. If you think of it, it does involve you. Directly even. You know cause, my dad cuts the tax he's supposed to send to the Metuza kingdom. So in that way, it involves you directly. It wouldn't hurt to do that. It will also get things done faster. So what do you say, buddy?" John explained and raised his brow when he asked Daryl the question. He also bumped his shoulder to persuade him even more. Daryl shook his head at him.
"It involves Metuza kingdom indirectly not directly..... But I guess I can put a little word to my father. Do you have a phone nearby?" He asked looking around the room.
John stood up and took the phone he had been sitting on and gave it to Daryl. Daryl took the phone with disgust clear on his face. "Ew! But warm!" He frowned and strung in the numbers.
"Son. How is it going on there?"
"Its not going well father. Seems like the king has been deducting the taxes he sends to us and is using them for gambling. It leads me to believe that someone else should be put on the throne. What do you think father?"
"Hmm. It seems reasonable. Who would you suggest? The prince or princess?"
"The prince of course since he is the eldest."
"When should the coronation be? I have free days between this month and next month. Which date would be fit son?"
"Hold on a second." He covered the phone's microphone and turned towards the excited John who was dancing on his seat. Daryl rolled his eyes at him and called him. He snapped out of his little victory dance and looked at him with a serious face as if he wasn't the one behaving like a five year old. He cleared his throat and and spoke to Daryl with a tone that of a well raised prince. His voice deep and filled with wisdom and years of experience.
"How may I help you your lordship?"
"When would you want your coronation to be? It has to be between this month and next month. Otherwise my dad won't have the time to crown you." John held his chin as if he was deep in thought. He opened his mouth and closed it. He did that again but shook his head. Daryl interrupted him.
"Do I have to be present? I don't have to right? Cause if I do, it has to be within this week." Daryl's statement led John to think deeply again.
The king on the end of the line started growing impatient.
"It would be rude if you weren't there buddy. Cause you helped me be king. It would only be fair if you would be present..... So my decision is...." He snapped his fingers as if coming to the last decision.
"What are you waiting for? What is your decision?" Daryl asked very frustrated.
"I was taking a dramatic pause okay? I'd like my coronation to be the day after tomorrow." Daryl let out a sigh. He then turned to the phone.
"He said the day after tomorrow. Is that okay with you father?"
"I have no problem. It will take me atleast a day to get to Arden. So the date has been set. I knew I could count on you son. Now, concerning the king's punishment for his crime. I would suggest for him to be sent to the dungeon for ten years. According to the Metuzan law." Daryl nodded his head.
"When shall he be sent?"
"After his son's coronation."
"We shall meet on that day father." With that, he placed the phone down and the conversation ended. Shortly after, the Arden princess burst into his room. He let out a sigh. They are not just touchy, but also intrusive.
"Daryl!" She then ran to his side and hugged him on the bed. Daryl didn't want to seem rude as he pushed her off of him. But, the princess seemed to have some sort of strength. John looked at his sister.
"You know you don't have to suck up to him anymore right? Since, well, cause I'm gonna be king. No biggie." He said while blowing his nails. Melissa let go of the out of breath Daryl. She had been hugging him so tight depriving him of oxygen.
"What?! My bro's gonna be king? So. Cool!" She stood up and started jumping. She then stopped and looked at her brother again.
"What about daddy? What's gonna happen to him? Also, when's you coronation?"
"He's going to be locked in the dungeon for ten years after my coronation which will be on the day after tomorrow." He said casually.
"The day after tomorrow?! Oh my gosh! I need to prepare a gown!" With that she ran out of the room. John and Daryl looked at each other with one thing on their minds. Girl problems. After she left, there was an awkward silence hanging around. They looked at each other and John stood up.
"Well, thanks for your help buddy. Couldn't have done it without you. If there isn't anything else, I'll be on my way then." Daryl nodded his head and watched him close the door behind him. After John had left, he lied back on his bed and covered himself up to his chin. A certain someone appeared in his thoughts and he let out a sigh. I really miss her..... I wonder if she misses me the way I do.
