"Fine then, I'll marry. As long as I marry someone I love." The prince said while crossing his arms on his chest showing that his decision was final. The king cringed when he heard his son say that.
"Ugh! So cliché. Whatever, as long as you get marry before eighteen, I'll give you time to fall in love. Oh. I forgot to tell you that you better fall in love tomorrow, 'cause there is a gala to make all the royal teens to be familiar with each other. We will depart at twelve o'clock, am I understood Erick?" The king asked, giving his son one last glance before he left. The prince bowed down and nodded his head, "Yes father." He watched his father leave the throne room then he knew it was his time to leave.
Erick felt dejected. He walked the hallway like a lifeless being. I don't understand why father wants me to marry so early, when he, on the other hand, got married in his thirties. He might say its cliché to marry someone I love, but, I don't want to spend the rest of my life with some woman! You know what? I am not going to dress up tomorrow. Sure, I might look like a buffoon if I dressed like a clown, but I am a hundred percent sure it will be worth it. If I dress up like an idiot, no girl would wanna stand near me. Yeah! That is what I am going to do!
The next day
Erick wore a green getup that looked like it was from a picture in the fifteen hundreds. Where he got it? No one knows. He went to the throne room so as to sit and wait for his father and mother. He did not know that Alexander, his father, had prepared early to see his son's fashion choice. When Erick saw his father, he jumped up from his seat and walked to his father. Alexander looked at his son in distaste. He touched the cloth and scrunched up his nose. "These are the ugliest clothes I've seen all my life! Where did you even get these clothes?" Erick just shrugged when his father asked him that. Alexander was infuriated by his son's smug look.
Alexander grabbed his son's collar and pushed his face close to his and talked to him in a murderous tone. "Do you want all the girls to avoid you like the plague?"
"If possible." He muttered under his breath, but, it was loud enough for his father to hear.
"What did you just say?"
"I said, if possible, I will change out of these clothes right now."
"Yeah. That's right. You will change out of these hideous clothes and wear those that me and your mother bought you. If not, I will kill you. I am dead serious right now." Erick shivered at his father's close proximity. The king let go of his son's collar and clapped his hands to get rid of the 'germs' that the clothes carried. He turned to look at his son, only to see that he had already left to change his clothes as per his father's warning.
Erick got in his room and slammed the door shut. He then leaned on it to catch his breath. Never in my life did I think I could run that fast. He locked the door and went to sit on the bed. Seems like that plan backfired real bad. Do I have a plan B? Nope I do not have a plan B. The most I can do at the time is to change out of these clothes to guarantee my safety. Maybe I can ask mother for some fashion advice. Erick left the room and went to look for his mother in her rooms.
Emmily heard a faint knock on her door. She got up from her dressing table and went to look at who it was. She was surprised to see her son standing at the door wearing a ridiculous outfit. "Hey mom. I just wanted to ask you, can you help me pick clothes to wear to the gala? If you will help, then follow me."
Erick took the lead and walked straight to his room. He was followed by an excited Emmily. She started raking the wardrobe and throwing clothes everywhere, seemingly not pleased with her son's fashion choices. Finally she found something that was a little pleasing to the eyes. Erick took the suite and looked at his mother. "You know mother, not many will respect you anymore if they saw you behaving like a child because of just looking for clothes. Cause, ya know you're growing old." When Erick finished his sentence, he looked up and was met with his mother's icy glare.
"You know, your father might not get the chance to kill you, because i would have already taken action. So, please, my dear son, say those words again, if you appreciate your life?" She said in a dangerous tone, while Erick in turn, visibly gulped. He would be a complete idiot to utter those words again. "What I meant to say was that, you my dear mother, is the epitome of youth." He flashed a bright smile to his mother. He was taught by his father to be a sweet talker, and it sure had its perks. Emmily's chilliness dissipated as she went and patted her son's head. "Why, thank you my darling. Okay now, change out of those hideous clothes and wear the one mother has picked for you." She said in a warm tone as she left the room.
Erick climbed down the stairs looking very handsome in the suite that his mother had picked for him. He wore a black half coat and covered it with his white coat. The coat had golden tassels hanging on it giving off a noble air. Last but but not least, he wore a black cape with his kingdom's flag drawn on it in a beautiful, red stitch. When his mother saw him, she gushed and knew that her son was going to be the center of all the attention. "My darling you look so dashing. Are you excited about the gala?" Erick arranged his collar and looked at his mother and said in a sarcastic tone. "Yeah, I'm so excited."
"I know right?" His parents said in unison. "You guys do know that I was being sarcastic right?" The king and queen feigned ignorance. Hmm, since I cant dress up as an idiot. I'm going to put up a cold front so that the girls would be scared to come to me. Yeah, that's my plan B.
