My mind was in haze. I shifted slightly, feeling something pierce my ribcage. Wincing in pain, my eyes fluttered open. The carriage had been flipped completely, then hit with something heavy. It was damaged to an incredible extent.
I could hear voices outside, getting closer and closer. I swiveled my head around, seeing my carriage companion unconscious and bleeding.
"Syrus! You need to move, now! You're in serious danger!"
I tried to move, but my injuries were too severe. I couldn't even open my mouth due to a piece of the carriage lodged under my jaw.
"Syrus! What happened?!"
Suddenly Myria floated through the, previous, top of the carriage. I gave her a light smile as my hand cupped her face. She wrapped her hands around my wrist tightly, her eyes flaring with anger.
"I can put up with sharing you, but the moment people do this..."
A sharp wind began to blow and incredible noise could be heard from outside. If I had been any less coherent, I wouldn't have seen the thin blades of wind snap the carriage pieces apart. My jaw was freed as well as the piece spearing me. I was still pierced, but I could move somewhat more easily.
"Myria..."
My eyes grew fuzzy as my strength left me.
"I know you can do this."
I coughed out a mouthful of blood.
"Get us to Rasswell, please."
I slipped on the ring as my vision faded.
---
"Syrus? M-Master..."
The tears in my eyes grew out of control as the blistering winds tore the carriage apart. It fell in massive pieces all around us, many being sent into the violent tornado I created around us.
In a few moments, the carriage was blown clear and Syrus laid beside me. His female body incredibly pale as blood flowed from his ribcage.
I heard soft coughing from nearby. The girl that was unconscious was on her feet now. She seemed confused and scared.
"Demon! Do you know fire magic?!"
The rage in my voice was apparent as I could see her flinch against my words. She nodded a moment later, so I motioned for her to join me.
"Cauterize the wound once I pull out the wood. My Master needs to be saved, and if you mess up..."
A violent energy began to build inside me as I stared down this demon. She was shaken to her core as my words sunk in.
I touched the wood lightly, my wind magic slowly spreading over it. As it seeped into Syrus's body, I began to pull the wood from within his frail bones.
"Master can heal himself when he wakes up... right?"
My true fear was written on my face as the tears cascaded in a never ending torrent. The demon began to burn Syrus, slowly burning the wound closed. The wound itself wasn't too wide, but the blood loss was extraordinary.
"Please survive... please."
"Miss, we need to move. You may not know me, but I know Syrus. For now, let's get away from these bastards that attacked us."
Anger flowed into me as my gaze fixed on my raging whirlwind.
"Hehehe. If they think they can escape..."
---
'Oh shit. Lana, what the fuck did Syrus find in his time here? This girl is a fucking yandere!'
'Not quite. She only gets angry towards those that hurt him. Sister... she might kill us if we say anything.'
'That's between us and him! He needs to know what happened. It was never meant to go down that way!'
In frustration, we could feel our tears sliding down our face. Wiping them away, we could see the elven beauty calling off her massive wind tunnel. As it faded, six or seven men were surrounding us.
"Ha! We was right! Got some choice loot ere. Les see which ones are ripe b-"
His neck was slit in a horrible horizontal line, slipping from its perch in a heartbeat.
I looked towards the elf, her hair flowing wildly as she sent many more blades of wind into the men that attacked us. Going on instinct, I sent up shrouds of flame, guarding the small earthen projectiles aimed at her.
"They've got a Dark Lord, Miss. Please be careful!"
Lana warned her, her voice the loudest between my two in situations like this.
"Got it. Protect him and get ready to leave! We are heading to Rasswell as soon as possible!"
Having just came from Rasswell, it wasn't too much further forward. We could make it in another two or three days if we push ourselves.
Taking a protective stance over Syrus, I readied my flames. They burned brighter than ever as we took on these arrogant bastards.
'Reina... will he forgive us?'
'I don't know. I just... I just want him to look at us the way he used to!'
'We never told him, did we?'
'Not even once. Our greatest regret. We will always have.'
In a rare moment since we took this body, both of our voices rang clear.
"We're sorry Syrus! We love you!"
My flames shrouded me as a boulder as large as myself slammed against me.
