Chapter 260 - The Price For Entertainment

The uniformed man gave the students a tour through the seemingly underground space.

"All forms of necessities are here. As a means to protect the students, we created a miniature self-sustained town at the school. In an emergency, everyone is to gather here until threats have been neutralized." [McGiven]

Mr. Frank cleared his throat.

"Ah, I mean… Mr. Frank mostly created this town. His Creation ability is very useful." [McGiven]

Mr. Frank then gave a nod of approval.

("How petty…") [Adam]

"In any case… Feel free to look around. Familiarize yourself with the place for the next thirty minutes. I have something to discuss with Mr. Frank." [McGiven]

He allowed the students to go off on their own, in which small groups were formed.

"Let's go Adam." [Felix]

"Aight." [Adam]

Natural as can be, the two went off.

"I heard a little bit of the stuff you did during your training camp." [Felix]

"What'd you hear?" [Adam]

"You made quite the reputation for yourself. People called you the "Juggernaut". Mind telling me the story behind that?" [Felix]

Adam scratched the back of his head.

"Ah… Well, I kept getting attacked." [Adam]

"Physically or mentally?" [Felix]

"Both. There were some levelist people so…" [Adam]

"Uh-huh… I figured. They must've been surprised when a level 1 like yourself could toss them around like children." [Felix]

The two chuckled.

"You're right about that." [Adam]

"So, what did you do all that time?" [Felix]

"Let me show you." [Adam]

He guided Felix over to the firing range and inspected the arsenal displayed on a wall.

"...Can we just take these?" [Adam]

"Might as well try it." [Felix]

Adam took a rifle off the wall display and charged it with his mana.

"Guess we can." [Adam]

Following the procedures taught to him, Adam entered a lane and fired three shots at a target from afar.

"...You're not just shooting randomly, right?" [Felix]

"Just watch." [Adam]

He tapped away at a panel built into the small space of his lane. Within moments, the target came closer.

"Three shots. As you can see." [Adam]

The target was shaped as a circle to test accuracy. In which, Felix could clearly see three direct hits near the center.

"Can't be that hard. Let me try." [Felix]

He then snatched the rifle from Adam's hand.

"...You do know how to use that thing, right?" [Adam]

"You charge it with mana and pull the trigger. I know what's up." [Felix]

Tapping at the lane panel, the target refreshed itself and gained distance.

"Three shots?" [Felix]

"Three shots." [Adam]

Felix pulled the trigger, only for nothing to happen.

"...Huh?" [Felix]

He attempted to fire a few more times, but no shots came out.

"You forgot the safety. I flicked it on before you took it." [Adam]

"Damn it, Adam." [Felix]

He then turned safety off.

"What? I practice safe conduct." [Adam]

Felix ignored him. Instead, he aimed down the barrel and fired three shots.

"Shit. I think I missed." [Felix]

Flicking the rifle's safety back on, Felix put it aside as he called the target closer.

"Wow. Not bad." [Adam]

Three direct hits. Only one near the center.

"Shut it. Even I have something I'm not very good at." [Felix]

"You mean something you suck at?" [Adam]

"You know what I said." [Felix]

They played around like this at every section that caught their eye. Grenade tossing, obstacle courses, and even sparring mats.

"Get him, Orion!" [Adam]

"Don't let him grab you, Sora!" [Felix]

It became a small event over at the sparring mats. People would take turns, and bets would be made. Of course, the use of abilities was banned for fairness.

"How can you be so slippery?!' [Orion]

In an attempt to take down Sora, Orion would grab at him.

"You're just too slow!" [Sora]

Ducking underneath one of Orion's lunges, Sora latched onto his opponent's arm and threw him down.

"Urgh!" [Orion]

"Game over!" [Alex]

Alex, who was the referee of the match, stepped in.

"NOOOO!!! MY MONEYYY!!!" [Brandon]

"Thanks guys~ I needed some quick cash." [Katherine]

This was not the first time Katherine had guessed the correct outcome. As a matter of fact, she had not lost a single dime since the betting matches began.

"Katherine, I don't think you should be gambling so much…" [Jessica]

"What? It's not like I'm losing anything." [Katherine]

"I feel bad for them…" [Tiffany]

Katherine stole a glance at Tiffany's worried expression.

"Fine… I'll refrain. I can't do anything when you look at me like that." [Katherine]

These games continued until those thirty minutes of free time was up. In which, the uniformed man had them stand in rows.

"Alright! You all had enough time to play around. Anyone want to guess what we're going to do now?" [McGiven]

"Listen to you yap?" [Felix]

Mr. Frank suddenly coughed as he tried to stifle his laughter.

"..." [McGiven]

He gave Mr. Frank the side-eye.

"Oh, pardon me." [Mr. Frank]

The uniformed man then growled and looked at Felix.

"Looks like we've got a wise guy here, huh?" [McGiven]

He approached Felix and locked eyes with him.

"What's your name?" [McGiven]

"Why do you wanna know?" [Felix]

"So I can figure out which dumbfuck just made everything worse for the whole class!" [McGiven]

He walked back to the front of the class.

"From now on, we will train, and train some more! Only until a month later will you all be deployed into the field!" [McGiven]

The uniformed man glared at Felix.

"Also, you have Mr. Dumbfuck over there to thank! I was going to go easy for the first day, but training will be doubled today!" [McGiven]

"Like your mother's weight." [Felix]

Mr. Frank turned away and coughed again.

"..." [McGiven]

The uniformed man's face reddened with anger.

"Tripled!" [McGiven]

Felix showed no remorse.

("Worth.") [Felix]
