Chapter 40 -  One morning

The living room and kitchen seem so quiet as both of us come out from Ayden's bedroom. I glanced at Jade, his eyes looked so puffy and I'm sure I did too. It's been a while since we both crying while talking. It's super ugly though, but at least we have a conversation. I switch my eyes around looking for two tall figures.

"They are upstairs, I guess." He said, as he walked straight to the kitchen and sighed. "I think your boyfriend is such a great cook," he said, pressing the word great, which made me peek at the worktop over his shoulder. I smiled. That was sarcasm. But he tried his best to cook and that's cute! Nothing is cuter than Ayden trying to cook.

"It's cute when he tries hard." I looked at the four pieces of burned toast and scrambled eggs. Jade sighed and put on the apron. I could see a small smile on his face. Did he agree with me that Ayden is cute? I sat on the high chair and rested my arms on it.

"Are you going to cook breakfast?" I asked. It's been a while. And he nodded.

"Diana's pregnant," he answered simply but I get it. He is going to cook. I pulled my boyfriend's meal that he made for me, even though it's not perfect, I will eat it because he put a lot of effort into making this cute burn breakfast. He just keeps shooting an arrow to my heat with his efforts and I might die anytime soon because of it.

"You're going to eat that?" he asked, half whispering as his eyes went up, looking straight behind me. I already know who he's looking at. He gave the most genuine smiles to that person and I already knew for whom. I scoffed.

"Yeah," I answered him and grabbed butter and chocolate bread spread and spread them on two toasts. It's not that bad, I used to eat something even more worse than this.

"Good morning people!" Diana's voice greeted the kitchen cheerfully. She sat next to me. "Hi, darling." she winked at me, kissing me on my cheek. "Good talk?"

"Hi." I looked at her for a second. She's looking straight at Jade, who is wearing the apron, already ready to cook. She admired him from behind. Totally in love. "Yeah, good talk."

"Hi, baby." I almost flinched and turned my head to my right as I heard him whisper. I turned my head and smiled, happy to see him. He rubbed my eyes softly with fingers and frowning before slowly give me a grin.

"Morning, princess," he whispered. "Did he made you cry?" he asked, slowly, but stern and cold.

"Morning...we just got emotional. I'm fine, and thank you for breakfast." He smiled faintly, as his eyes dropped at my plate, looking at the breakfast he made.

"I burned it though...you don't have to eat it." He said, sounded a little insecure as his eyes went up to stare at Jade's back. Jade already made this kitchen as his as he started to open and closed the fridge by himself. "I'm sorry that I can't cook anything else. I wish I could, so I can bring breakfast to bed. I'm sorry, baby."

He is so cute, sometimes, I'm wondering if he is twenty-nine years old? Maybe he lied, he was probably younger than me, right? How can an old man be this cute?

"It's good," I said, took the first bite and smiled at him. "I did some research lately...about Japanese food. And there is something that I want to eat. Can you cook it for me?"

He looked at me with a small laugh. "Are you comforting me?"

I shook my head slightly, tilting my head, pretending I don't understand what he said.

"I will, just tell me what you want, I will cook it for you," he said, grinning the most boyish grin. That's so dazzling, I almost blind.

"So...we're going to eat Japanese for lunch?" Diana asked, interrupting my sweet moment with Ayden. And I can hear Jade laughing, mocking. I glared toward him, even though he didn't see it. How dare him!

"Why not, right. Since my princess wants to eat it. I'm pretty good with Japanese food. Just say it, I will cook for you."

"You can cook Japanese?" Diana asked.

"Yeah, I lived there before, and I love Japanese food, only learned to cook Japanese food," he said nonchalantly.

I smirked, a little bit proud to hear that. I took another bite of my toast and finally finished it. And Jade grabbed my plate and put a burrito wrapped and pushed it back. He even pushed one plate toward Ayden.

"Thanks., I said, Ayden just put on his smile again, the smile that he always put in front of Jade.

I had my second meal and it's good too. The perfect combination of scrambled eggs, fried turkey ham, spinach and tomato salsa make up this tasty breakfast burrito.

I glanced up and looked around as I heard soft giggles. What's up?

"Is it the power of love?" Diana asked, staring at Jade with a huge smile and Jade just shrugged, chewing his breakfast. Why? What did I miss?

I glanced at Ayden's who was smiling ear to ear, resting his arm on the worktop as he tilted his head, staring at me. What?

I'm still unable to pick up what's going on as Diana's laughing even more. My eyes swift back to her and she and Jade now staring at each other, as Jade shoved a burrito inside her mouth. What the? What did I miss? I want to laugh too.

"Probably. Love sometimes can change people." He said, making me frown.

"Indeed." I turned my head one hundred and eighty degrees toward Ayden, who agreed with that. I mean nothing wrong with that statement but watching those two flirting is a bit...weird.

I frowned, even more, when he winked at me. What the…

"Did I missed something? Why are you laughing?" I asked Diana, eating my burrito. And she just laughed, shaking her head lightly. What? Tell me!

"So when will you moved out, Maddie?" Jade asked, feeding Diana another burrito. He changing the subject.

I took another bite of my burrito and shrugged. Seriously, I don't know too.

"Why don't you move in today, princess? I will handle everything. Ah, of course, your brother can help me handle the process." he said, pressing the word brother even more.

Jade looked at him with a frown. And he kept his smiling face on.

"I can handle it by myself, you know that right?" I asked, and I know...my tone sounds irritated. I finished the last bite and leaned in my chair. "That's too soon, don't you think so?" I do agree to move in, but today? He just asked me last night! And moving in, that will be a lot of work. And I need to at least tell Mr Xavier first too. We can't just move out just like that. There's procedure too.

"Don't be upset, let me do it, please...I won't leave out anything from the house. Ah, and, there's a new movie that just comes out and I think you're going to love it. And you're just discharged from the ward. Why don't you rest? And Diana and Jade are going to stay over a little bit more longer. Why don't you and Diana hang out at home while I and your brother went out and do the errands instead?" he said, and that just sounds more suspicious.

"Yeah, let me and your boyfriend go, and you two just have fun at home instead. Both of us need a man talk too." Jade added. Way more suspicious.

"I thought you hate each other?" Diana asked, and that's exactly what I want to say too. But she is way faster than me.

"It wasn't hated, it just...worries. And besides, I have so much to say to him, so can you let me and your boyfriend handle the moving process and we will be back before lunch. Just take a rest, especially you, baby. We will go for a check-up after lunch, okay?" Jade said, looking at me and Diana in turn, and rubbed his fiance's hand softly.

I looked at Ayden and he smiled at me. It's a little suspicious.

"There are so many things to do…"

"Don't worry about it, we got it." he cut me off. Which make me frowning even more. "I know baby, there's a lot of things to do, I can handle it with your brother will help me out. I will tell Mr Xavier about it and we will call the moving company too. Let me do it and just take a good rest. Okay?"

"You're sound suspicious." I looked at Jade and he gives me a shrug.

"As Jade said, both of us need a conversation too."

"Uh-huh. Yeah." Jade replied nonchalantly. "Ah, I need to give him 'if you ever hurt her' speech. So we both need to talk, sort things out. Don't worry about it."

I looked at them in turn. Suspicious. Suspicious.

"I thought you're against this idea, Jade?" I asked. I'm trying my best to hide my suspicion but it slips out.

"And you asked me to believe the man you believe. I'm trying, that's why I need to talk with him, just the two of us, any problem with that? Anyway, I'm your guardian, so technically, if you want to stay here, I need to make sure it's the right decision, and I need to make sure he can fit the criteria, right?"

I squinted my eyes on him, and he pulled out his stoic expression which I can't read at all. I turned my head to look at Ayden and he just smiling, the fake one and I can't read them too. I sighed. I glanced at Diana and she looked like she's in suspicion too, just like me.

"Don't worry about us okay, just stay at home, take a good rest. We will handle everything. Okay?" Ayden said. He is suspicious as hell. What the.

I sighed heavily and finally gave in. WHatever. I'm not in a position to think anyway. And even if I said something, they will say something back. I don't know what's going on but I could care less anymore.

"Fine...do what you want. Just don't hit each other," I said, I mean it. They're not going along well. He let out a soft chuckle, but that doesn't sound convincing at all.

"Don't worry about it." Jade added but that just sounds even more suspicion.
