Chapter 5 - Classmates

Jennifer of 1940s Entry #4

She didn't listen. She ignored me. And now... It's too late.

I told her that Jennifer is evil, Jennifer might be feeding on her soul.

And now... she's... dead... They said that she took her own life. But they can't fool me. Jennifer can't fool me. She's involved in Cynthia's death. I know it.

Aside from that, Cynthia's bullies are currently hospitalized... driving while being intoxicated... some have minor injuries but most of them are critical, barely alive...

Now that I have proven my self that she is not as innocent as she seems... it's time to initiate my plan...

"Are you sure we can do it in your house?" I nodded, not bothering to look at him.

"Really??? I'm so excited!"

"Why are you so excited, Mark? Isn't it too creepy?" Sophie commented with fear and worry written all over her face. I instantly looked away, trying to hide my blush.

"Oh come on Sophie. You don't need to worry! Aaron's gonna protect you!" Mark exclaimed and grinned at me. Secretly nudging my back.

"Why do we even need to finish the project in your house? Too troublesome..." Victor mumbled.

"Victor... We already talked about this. We even agreed to this." Mark replied.

"Not me." he coldly replied and plugged in his earphone. Sophie and Mark worriedly looked at me but I just stared at Victor.

Victor used to be my closest friend during our childhood days... But they suddenly left our town and when he returned, he changed a lot, he ignored me and pretended that our friendship doesn't exist.

"Let's just quickly finish the diorama... So it won't bring all of you so much trouble." I told Sophie and Mark and sadly smiled at them.

"Just... Be responsible, okay? Do not open the barrier." Father reminded me.

"I won't. Just relax, okay? We're gonna be fine." I replied as I opened the door to Jennifer's room.

Because I need to fulfill my promise to Mark, I tried my best to "tame" Jennifer, who also seems to be excited, and persuaded my father to give them a permission to meet Jennifer.

When I opened the door, Mark instantly rushed inside while Sophie hid on my back.

"S-she's so b-beautiful! P-please marry me!" Mark said as his eyes shimmered while his hands are on the barrier and intensely looking at Jennifer. Jennifer laughed.

"Thank you." then she shyly replied.

"Well... sorry for that... he's just TOO interested in supernaturals... might be the reason why he befriended me." I told Jennifer, whispering the last part. She chuckled and tried to peek at my back.

"Hi! Nice dress!" Jennifer commented and I immediately felt a grip at my back.

"H-hey. Are you okay? You're shivering." Sophie just shook her head and remained staring at the floor.

"S-she's just s-scary..." she whispered. I frowned.

"Why? What do you see?"

"A-a s-scary wo-woman..." she replied.

"Hey! Hey! It's okay... She's just a girl. She won't hurt you..." I calmly told her, trying to comfort her. She nodded and tried to look at Jennifer again. Still hesitating, she shyly smiled at Jennifer.

"Y-yeah... She IS a child. H-how did that happen?"

"I'm not a child..." Jennifer complained and frowned "... for your question... It's because of the barrier. In your mind, you perceived me as a scary being... right?" then she eyed at Victor and smiled at him.

"Anyway, why don't you start doing your project! I'm excited!" she continued and enthusiastically clapped.

Halfway doing our project, Jennifer seemed to be already bored in watching us and started to initiate a conversation... with Mark.

"So... I heard you love supernatural stuffs? Mind telling me what you know?" Jennifer flirty asked Mark which made him caught off guard but he quickly recovered and pretended that he wasn't even if it's too obvious.

"U-uhm... well... the usual supernatural stuffs... demons... angels..."

"Elexians?" Jennifer asked.

"Oh... the Elexa tribe... the tribe that is full of supernaturals that used to... help humans?" Jennifer nodded, "Why do you ask? Are you an Elexian?" Jennifer once again nodded.

"Will you be able to guess from what clan am I?" Mark stared at her for a minute. Not speaking. Not moving.

"A Clemente?" with that, Jennifer laughed loudly.

"Why? What's so funny? You look gentle and merciful... you even instantly healed my broken soul by your beauty." then Mark dramatically held his chest.

"No... no..." Jennifer replied while still laughing.

"Well... you can't be a Euryton... they're all killed... thanks to the Barises. Their existence can cause chaos." Mark mumbled and in an instant Jennifer stopped laughing and looked offended and hurt.

Mark didn't notice it and continued mumbling. When Jennifer noticed that I'm observing her reaction she just grinned at me, acting like she wasn't hurt.

"You're a Draven? a Rodolfo?" Mark continued and by his tone, it seems like he's getting pissed. Not waiting for an answer, Mark once again spoke.

"No... it can't be... you can't be a Tavora... no way..."

"What are you talking about, Mark? Care to explain?" Sophie interrupted as she stopped what she was doing which seems like she's getting interested with their topic.

I pretended to just mind my own business and continued doing or project. When I looked at Victor, he seems to be too busy to meddle with them as he was so quite since we got here.

"Well, there was once a tribe of supernaturals called Elexa. Elexa is consisted with 6 different clans, each clan possesses a unique ability that allows them to help humans: Eurytons, the giants; Dravens, the vampires; Clementes, he merciful healers; Rodolfos, the werewolves; Silvanos, the agriculturers; and the Tavoras, the clever dealers. In the past, they helped humans... but because of the Barises, their crimes were exposed and they were banished. Then there is a prophe—"

"Yeah... a prophecy..." Jennifer smiled as all eyes landed on her "... the prophecy that exterminated 2 clans from the tribe." Mark was left dumbfounded by what she said.

"I know that prophecy, I was alive when that false prophecy circulated." She continued.

She was alive? But... does that mean that the Eurytons betrayed us? I was about to ask her that but we were disrupted with a loud thud.

"Sorry. It's almost night. I need to go." Victor said as he started to clean up his stuffs.

"Scared of the dark, big boy?" Jennifer teasingly said. She just chuckled when she received a glare from Victor.

"Uhm... since we're about to finish, I'll handle it. You can all go home now." I offered them and luckily they agreed.

We all cleaned up the mess that we made and they even said their goodbyes to Jennifer... well... aside from Victor who hurriedly went home.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~|
"Hey..." Jennifer said as I was picking up some stuffs.
"Hmmm?" I replied without looking at her.
"Thank you." she simply said which made me look at her.
"You know... for bringing visitors... I enjoyed it. It feels human-y..." she shyly bowed her head, trying to hide her very obvious blush. I chuckled at her reaction, feeling my heart race. If only...
"You're welcome. I'm glad that you had fun... and I apologize for Mark's harshness..."
"Nah. That's fine... I'm used to it. After all, we shouldn't have been born," she mumbled. For some reason, what she said made my heart ache especially when she said that with a smile on her face, "I just wish that someday... we'll all get to live a normal life. Not like this... being punished for the sins of my ancestors..."
Still speechless about what she said, I just stared at her. I never knew that they can show something like this. She seems vulnerable... the total opposite of what they taught us. Oh Jennifer... what are you doing to me?
"Can you stay for the night? I'm willing to stay up late just to help you." I simply nodded and automatically brought out the things that we need.
As I entered the barrier, she excitedly waited.
"I can't wait. I miss doing these things..."
The whole night, all she did is to chatter while doing our project. She babbled about Sophie's dress that she envies. She blabbered about how she missed her student life. She blabbered about missing Derek. And it all went on an on.
"Hey! Hey!" she said as I was dozing off.
"Can you use your phone... and you know.. play the song..."
"Hmmm? What song?" I answered, trying to open my eyes.
"The song that goes like this..." she cleared her throat and even fixed her hair "... I wanna hide the truth, I wanna shelter you but with the beast inside, there's no where we can hide..." my eyes widened as she started singing. Once she saw my reaction, she blushed and stopped singing.
"Why? I-is my voice annoying?" I shook my head.
"Uh.. no... no... it's good actually..." I replied, trying to hide my reaction. I instantly looked for it in my phone and played it.
Once again she started singing and humming. And little by little, I can feel that I'm really dozing off... the last thing that I saw is Jennifer, happily singing while cutting something... and before I finally dozed off... the last thing in my mind is how she seem to like doing crafty stuffs...
