I'm looking down at my wife, who's laying in the bed as still as death. Her chest is raising and falling letting me know she's still breathing but I'm completely at a loss as to what happened. I didn't expect her to wake up like this and then to find out that she somehow block our bond when she woke up. It's just unbelievable. Julian came running in when Vance had yelled for him when Lexi started to fight me and thankfully he came prepared with meds to put her out. But she still hurt herself which we were trying to prevent. Only if she had stopped this and just looked at me we would be in a very different situation then the one we face now. With a sigh I get up and that's when it hits me the smell of blood. Oh fuck she really did hurt herself.
I look over at Vance and I see his eyes get sharper and his nostrils flare. He smells it too. " How bad is it Julian?" I hear Vance ask.
" I'll have to look but I would say she opened up her surgical site. I'm hoping she just pulled the stitches and not done any other damage." Julian says with a sigh as he removes the blanket and lifts up the gown Lexi is wearing.
We both see it, the blood is coming out like a river. Julian quickly pulls the blanket over it and puts his hands on top of it to apply pressure to stop the bleeding but we all no it's no use. Just as I'm coming to this conclusion I hear Julian yell to get the OR ready and with that he again takes our wife back to stop the bleeding.
I look at Vance and I'm at a loss for words. I don't understand what happened here and why she didn't respond to any of it. It was like she was still fighting for her life and didn't or couldn't recognize that she was safe. But how do you get through to someone you can no longer content to.
"Voughn I don't understand what went wrong do you?" Vance is just as lost as I am.
"No. But it was like she wasn't there. Just like an animal caught by a predator and is fighting not to get eaten." I say and that's when it clicks. I stumble back as the answer hits me and I sit down hard in the chair.
Oh fuck. She forgot. Lexi has been gone for 5 years, she forgot and started to panic when she couldn't content with us. It's not that she was not letting us in. It was that she couldn't and we didn't help her any. How could we not start the contention when she first came to recovery. It would have been easier on her if we had.
"Voughn what's the matter? What's going on?" Vance asks me with just a note of worry in his voice.
" It's been 5 years since Lexi's been here with us, she forgot how it works here. She panicked because she couldn't content with us and with her being attacked she just wanted to defend herself."
I answer.
"What are you talking about? She recognized us?" Vance is totally lost and I don't blame him. But this is our fault in not doing what was best for our wife and waiting for her to wake up.
" Yes and no. She recognized us physically but not mentally. Lexi has no anchor anymore. We haven't given her our blood in 5 years her mind didn't know where to go, so she lashed out and fought. She has forgotten that her husband's are vampires. And all she seen when she woke up was predators around her and closing in on her." I tell Vance and I'm sick to my stomach on how we handled that and her.
I hear a sharp intake of breath and a low " oh fuck no." from Vance. As it finally hit's home to both of us. We fucked up and cause her more pain and suffering than necessary. Now we have to wait until Julian can close the wond and then we'll proceed how we should of done before all this happened. This time she'll have a her mind link to us when she wakes up and she won't be so lost and then we can guide her back to herself and to us without causing her more pain. We will make sure she's taken care of first then we'll get to what we need and the answers that we want to have.
Now all we have to do is wait for her. Gods how I hate waiting...
