Chapter 7 - Chapter Seven- Cool Water Vs. Dark Waters

CLAIRE'S POV

I could still feel the pain in my abdomen but I could not move. The pain only grew worse but before I could move and make the pain worse there was a warm hand. My eyes opened immediately, the hand belong to a man based on the small hairs present. My stomach was bare and there was a rather ugly bruise present but the small touch lit up something within me. I groaned, yes, I could not move even if I tried because the creature seemed to have knocked my stomach inwards.

"We- Oh no" I frowned when I remembered that I was no longer in his company. Someone else found me.

"You need to rest meiss, you loss a hell of blood back there" I stared at the officer I saw earlier. For some strange reason I felt disappointed that he was the one here. What happened to Wesker, was he safe?

Sure the man had great combat skills but I don't think he would be able to take that thing alone. The creature was quite determined to kill and the fact that it could only say one word was quite puzzling. My eyes fell on the sleeve of the officer's shirt, there was an acronym and a logo.

S.T.A.R.S

My brother worked for stars but the creature looked at Wesker when it said that. Now I was extremely confused, was it just a slight misinterpretation? I placed my hand to my forehead only to shake my head.

"Where...Where-" I groaned as the officer helped me into a sitting position, the walls of my stomach contracting roughly. I screamed, my hands gripping his as he placed me to lean against the wall. He handed me a bottle of water and I placed the bottle of my stomach, I allowed the tears to fall.

The guy with dirty blonde hair stared up at me as he got on one knee, his hand leaving my stomach. I only cried in front of my brother yet here I was crying in front of a total stranger. When I left for the city I had no idea I would run into this hellish nightmare.

"I'm Leon S Kennedy, not having the best day either ma'am. This is my first day on the job if it makes you feel better" He told me and I stared down at him. I used the back of my hand to dry my eyes.

"I'm Claire, Claire Redfield. I came here looking for my brother" I told him and he nodded.

"Want to tell me what happened back there?" he asked and the water bottle aided in decreasing the pain present in my stomach. I managed a smile, his gray eyes were really adorable.

"I met a friend when I came here, his name is Albert Wesker. He sorta saved my life actually because I would have been a Claire sandwich back at the gas station. We met upon a creature in one of the rooms, it attacked and I just sort of blacked out. I don't know if he's okay" I told Leon who stood with a pained face.

"His name sounds a bit familiar" he added and I squeezed my stomach only to make the pain worse. I groaned and Leon was by my side immediately, his hand massaging the area gently. I stared up at the rookey who kept his eyes on my injured stomach.

FLASH BACK;

I almost stumbled over my own two feet when Chris gripped my wrist. I groaned when he dipped in his pocket in order to retrieve his car keys. I flashed free, my hand on my hands on my hips as I stared up at my older brother. He was so eager on taking me to my prom but this was the very last thing I expected.

Why spoil your sister's fun?

"Chris! You punched my date!" I yelled and he scoffed before staring down at me in horror.

"You call that a date?!" he asked and I moved my head back slightly as I stared up at him.

"Yes he is my date Chris, can we do something without you throwing a fist?!" I yelled in the middle of the parking lot and Chris smiled not because he wanted to smile but simply because he was upset. It was a weird trait my brother possessed.

"The guy was squeezing you like a fresh bun Claire, I don't see why I should remain calm about this!" he asked as he face became serious once again.

"I am almost a woman Chris! If I want to have sex you can't stop me!" I yelled and my brother paused in opening the door for me.

"I will not raise another child!" my brother yelled and I took a step back. He closed his eyes when he realized that he temper got the best of him. He dipped in his pocket, a box of cigarette being pulled from his pocket only for him to light I cigarette.

"I thought you stopped doing that" I whispered and he unlocked the door meant for me.

"Go have fun, I will be here waiting for you" he told me and I kept looking back as I made my way indoors.

PRESENT:

"Claire, we have to go" I stared at Leon who was now carrying me, my backpack resting in my lap.

"We need to leave the city but we have a good fight doing that. Umbrella is responsible for this mess and I think the Chief is trying to cover it up" Leon told me and I placed my hand to his shoulder.

"The pharmaceutical company?" I asked as I gestured for him to set me to my feet. I did so gently, my arm around his neck as I ambled with my backpack in hand. Leon was a really nice guy, sometimes I wondered what would have happened of I ran into him instead of Wesker.

"I found letters to the chief, he knew about the whole thing" he told me as he guided me down a couple steps, my face scrunched up in pain.

"I'll only slow you down" I told him as I sat on one of the steps, Leon staring at me oddly. What if Chris's book will be the only thing I find?

"Claire I will not escape this city leaving you on a staircase" he told me as he took me by the arms, my stomach collapsing in severe pain. If the creature truly went after Wesker was he even alive?

"You know the exit to this city right?" I asked as I continued to hop. He was gentle, my eyes fixed on the sewer ahead of us. I removed my gun, Leon continuing to be my support.

"The lab is underground, that's the whole reason we are taking the sewer" he told me and I nodded. I groaned as we stumblec jn the darkness, Leons hand finding its way to my hip.

"Do try to keep your voice down" he warned and I like a fool nodded in the darkness. I took a deep breath only to stiffen next to Leon when there was a sound above us.
