Chapter 11 - Chapter Eleven- Rodents

CLAIRE'S POV

I froze the moment the sound erupted through the building, my gun in hand but positioned to the floor. I looked to Leon who wore a similar expression to my own so yes, it was confirmed that he heard the sound too. Whatever that was it was absolutely fucking hungry and would stop at nothing to obtain a decent meal. Leon guided me by the small of my back, my gun now raised once again.

"We have to move quickly" He suggested and I kept looking back. Moving quickly would not do any good because that growl sounded rather close to me. Two giant steps and it was right behind us without a 'mother may I'. What the hell did I walk into the moment I rode into this city?

"Please tell me that is not what I think it is" I told lean who was now leading the way. Leon turned to look at me, his gun raised as he fired at three zombies. The three figures fell limp, our shoes telling everyone and everything that were coming.

"It is only logical that the creature would follow us" Leon told me and I swallowed hard. It would not take much for the creature to have me destroyed. A slam to the stomach was painful because here I was moving on broken ribs.

There were moments my chest tightened.

"The creature cried stars, isn't that the name of the the team of Raccoon city cops?" I asked as I stared at the blood that lined the white floor. A body was dragged here and whatever dragged it across the floor was rather large. I swallowed, metal scraping behind us.

"It is a acronym really" my companion told me as well rounded our first corner. I stared at the side of his face.

"Why does this thing keeps saying it?" I asked and Leon glanced at me.

"I think it was designed to kill anything associates with stars" He told me and my mind flashed to Wesker. There was something that the blonde was not telling me.

Another growth errupted.

We turned around swiftly, Leon placing his arm before me while it stared right at him. The hammer was sent to the floor roughly and the place shook, Leon being the reason I hadn't fallen over. I would say the creature based it's teeth but the creature's teeth was always on display so my statement would be quite invalid.

"Stars!" the thing that stood before us yelled and Leon used his hand to push me. I stared in horror as the creature charge towards us.

"Claire go!" he instructed as he equipped himself with a larger weapon. I was still worried because as far as I knew that thing was indestructible. Leon did not stand a chance against that thing.

"Claire now!" he yelled and while did not want to do it I had to. If I should stay I would only destract Leon. There was no good in having a civilian around, tried to stop my movement the moment I rounded my second corner, liquid was on the floor. I was moving against the floor so aggressively I failed to believe this was a slight mishap as opposed to a water slide.

I groaned only to find that someone had me by the leg before I could fall over what looked like a broken metallic bridge. I stared at what would have been a nasty fall, my hands dangling in the air as my hair band fell out. I swallowed, my palms pressed against the cold surface as I continued to stare.

The hands freed my legs and I straighten, my ass and hands providing the moment needed. That would have been one heck of a fall, I moved into something firm, my gaze lifted upward to stare at someone I was worried about.

"Are you alright?" he asked as he pulled me to my feet by the shoulder. I nodded because I was too embarrassed to speak, I would have been dead if it was not for his intervention.

"It is still alive" I told him as he walked off, his slow movements gesturing that I followed. I did, my arms behind me as he kicked a door open, this room was dark and filled with wooden boxes. Wesker turned to look at me, his eyes hidden by dark shades.

"There is a opening but I won't fit, their is a bridge but someone will have to manually launch the bridge" he told me and I stare at the small vent. He has a extremely dark personality he spokewith such authority.

"The woman responsible for this is still on the premises and she possess a rather deadly virus" he told me and I stared up at him in horror.

"Oh my god" he stared at my shocked expression, his eyes on the vent above us. A woman was responsible for this mess? Why would anyone create such a horror?

"We cannot allow her to leave Miss Redfield" he told me as he climbed onto one of the wooden box, his hand reached towards me. I groaned as my legs dangled a bit and my lungs burned.

"Careful" he warned as he guides me as gentle as possible. He lowered, my legs finding their way to his shoulder but what was surprising was the fact that the man didn't even make a sound. It was as though I weighed nothing.

I tore the cover of the vent, my body jolting backwards when rodents came out, some flying while some crawled. I fell backwards but when I didn't touch the ground I stared at what caught me. He stared at me in silence and I did the very same thing, Wesker's hand touching my hair. He crushed something and threw it elsewhere, my eyes still fixed to his.

"Miss Redfield if you change your-"

"No it is fine" I stated as he placed to my feet, his body lowering until he was on his knees. I climbed onto his shoulder once again, my body positioned to my hands and knees the moment I entered the vent. The dark think stinked, my eyed on the things that moved by me.

"Claire, are you okay?" he asked and I stared at the rat that was busy having lunch. I swallowed.

"Yes I am fine" I lied as I continued to move. I did not know which was worse; the underground lab or the police station?
