Silence is an answer too ....
June's breath hitched. She narrowed her eyes at Alex.
"What makes you think that I'll give in to you ?" She asked with bitterness clear in her voice .
Alex let out a laugh, "what makes you think that I'm giving you a choice"
A tear rolled down her face but she quickly wiped with her hand. She shut her eyes for a few seconds and when she opened them they were bloodshot .
Don't cry, don't cry . I have to do this...have to.
"What guarantees me that you won't use me ?"
"We can draft a contract if you want. You are into those things aren't you ?"
She nodded slowly, "I'll think about it and t-". She got up to leave but Alex gripped her arm causing her to stop abruptly and hit his chest. "Wrong with you, Alex ?!"
"You're not going anywhere. I am not waiting for another second"
June's eyes widened in disbelief. But she couldn't express the same disbelief in her voice. "No Alex" she whispered. Her eyes glistened under the lights and tears started pricking the corner of her eyes.
"How disappointed Sebastian would be, poor guy " Alex said in a mocking tone.
When he saw that June did not answer, he lead her to the bedroom . June struggled to get him to loosen his grip but to no avail. "Alex," she closed her eyes "please".
He sat on the edge of the king-sized bed and unbuttoned the first few buttons of his white shirt. He ran a hand through his golden locks and smirked .
"Strip, let me see you"
June shook her head gently and held to her white jacket tighter . "Alex, I don't want to"
"But you have to and that's different. C'mon June you're boring me" Alex stated as he sighed .
She removed her jacket slowly and let it fall to the ground and with it fell a tear that was burning her eye. She looked down her black tube dress and she hated herself for not wearing a bra. She slowly stripped out of it too.
Alex's eyes roamed her body. Making sure to remember every single curve. He beckoned to her and she walked towards him.
She tilted her head at him, "I hate you " she whispered as she threw him on the bed.
"June, you haven't said a word since you came, something is wrong"
June looked up and smiled at Sebastian. He was trying to make her feel better for the past two days but it wasn't working. After the incident, June head out directly to Sebastian's and asked to stay. Sebastian couldn't say no .
She was laying on her side on the couch with her hand under her head. She touched his cheek lightly and he leaned into her touch.
"I can feel that there is something upsetting you, would you like to tell me about it ?"
June shook her head.
"Why don't you cry it out ? Maybe that we'll help ?"
June sat up and sighed, " I don't have that privilege" she whispered. "You do not understand the blessing of crying until you lose it. I could be burning from the inside but all will applaud seeing me standing—so tall, so strong" she lowered her head. "I don't have that privilege"
Sebastian felt pain twist his insides at her pain but at the same time he felt like all he wanted to do was to admire how strong a woman can be. So resilient. She was in pain but she still looked like no worry has ever laid hands on her.
He pressed his lips against hers and cupped her face. June involuntarily pushed him away in fear. She shut her eyes tightly over she realized what she did.
"June, what's wrong" Sebastian asked worriedly.
"I want to go home" her voice barely coming out. "Please"
"Oh ! I thank the lord that you're actually alive ! Where have you been, June ?"
June neared her aunt and gave her a tight hug, "mom" she whispered as she felt sadness and discomfort wash over her.
Poll rubbed June's back and sat her down, "Is there someone wh-"
June shook her head softly. She took her aunt's hands, kissed them and placed her forehead against them.
"I won't tell you about it but I'm in pain" June started, "and my heart...feels heavy. Too heavy" Her voice was barely audible, reflecting the pain inside of her .
Poll's eyes widened. She looked at her niece softly. She took her hands tightly between hers and squeezed them .
"June, what's wrong ?"
"I-I-" she tried to speak but just like always words failed her.
"Poll Brookstein, it's always a pleasure seeing you. Aren't you a bit early" Harrison greeted the woman who walked into his house.
The house was fancy and extravagant. So Harrison. The marked black marble floors, the showy chandeliers and golden furniture were heavily present and they probably cost him a fortune. Their fortune.
Harrison was sat next to his wife, Isabella, who was reading a newspaper.
Once she entered, Isabella noticed her and smirked . How much she hated this woman.
"We need to talk" Poll said with a flat voice, keeping it devoid of any emotion.
Harrison gave his wife a stern look and just like that the middle aged woman was gone.
"I know, you told me" Harrison stood up and walked towards the bar with heavy steps. "You know" he started, "you've always been my favorite Brookstein, even more than your sister"
Poll's jaw clenched at the mentioning of her sister.
He poured himself a drink and walked back to her. "So pious and-and- what's the word? Yeah ! Righteous." He took a sip from his drink and continued. "I know you wouldn't hurt me or my wife or-"
"What have you done to June"
Once Harrison heard June's name a smirk formed on his face. Alex must have done something right for the first time in his life.
"June, my beautiful daughter ? I haven't heard from her for weeks. Is she okay" he said with faux caring eyes.
"Daughter? Funny when you failed one of your basic responsibilities...which was to be simply there when she was born" she stopped."you didn't even do that" she spat.
"Oh Poll, don't make i-"
"I didn't come to discuss that with you anyways so answer my question"
"No! No, I wouldn't even think of it"
"If...if I come to know that you have touched her or caused harm to her, I'll raise hell, Harrison and being righteous is not what you'll remember about me"
And with that Poll walked out of the house just like she came in.
"Did you do anything to June, Alex ?"
Alex crossed his legs and downed his drink. He shut his eyes as he remembered the night he spent with June. Heaven was between her legs.
"No, why are you asking?" Alex said casually. If he knew how to do something exceptionally good then it was lying .
"Nothing, I just want to know why are you taking so long to take care of her "
"Harrison, don't worry. I'm taking very good care of her. " he closed his eyes and allowed the liquid to calm his nerves. "Very good care"
