Wang Lan
Lan was driving his dark blue BMW X3 jeep, a satisfied smile was plastered on his face. He was traveling with his angel on the passenger's seat and a fuming fat cat on the back seat. Throughout the whole journey to the house where he and Ming lived together, he was smiling to himself like an idiot replaying the events that had happened a few minutes ago, changing his life and making his angel officially his mate, over and over in his mind. As they reached their house Lan turned off the ignition of his jeep and got down. He went to Kris's side and entangled their hands before they walked into their house. Ming tagged along behind them shaking his head in disbelief, his best friend was totally, hopelessly in love.
After entering the house, Lan turned the lights on and pushed Ming towards their kitchen saying,
"Come on fat cat you are the best cook I've met in my whole life, give us the honor of tasting your mighty dinner, will you?"
Lan tried to coax Ming, but Ming, being already pissed off for being unnoticed, did not get fooled by his praise.
"Do you really think that by saying those candy words, you will be able to persuade me to cook dinner? First, you asked me to leave my studies and come back to become your secretary, then you push me to the ground to protect your mate and now you are asking me to cook for the two of you. Do I look some genie to grant all your wishes???"
Ming said while walking towards their kitchen, not wanting to prolong this conversation and make Lan use his ability to compel him to make dinner.
"Ming you're the best."
Lan said before he took Kris's hand and walked towards his office room. After they entered Lan's office room Lan closed the door behind them and took a seat on the couch, patting the space next to him signaling Kris to sit beside him. After Kris sat down,
"So my angel, what shall we talk about?"
Lan asked as he had no idea how to start the conversation between them. Kris stayed quiet for a few minutes and replied,
"I think we should start by getting to know about our family background and ourselves."
"Ok then. I am the only son of the high alpha Wang Rong and the next high alpha of the wolf race. My mother is Wang Yan, and she is a turned vampire, so I am a hybrid born from a wolf and a vampire. As my mother is just a common vampire, my vampire traits are quite low and as my father is a high alpha, my wolf traits are the ones that one would notice at first. I am currently working in my father's company as a deputy director. I do not have any siblings and I live with my best friend Ming as my relationship with my father is not that good. I think that is all about me."
Lan said and bowed his head a bit. Kris laughed at this gesture and the introduction as it reminded him of a new student introducing himself to his class. Nodding his head Kris started his introduction,
"Well, I am the eldest son of the Mackwood family. I have a younger twin, Mike, who is working as a doctor in Canada. My dad is the leader who rules the vampire race, and my mom died in childbirth as she could not manage to give birth to two pureblood vampire babies as a common vampire. The relationship between our father and us is also not that good. I love business, so I decided to come to China and start a branch of my father's company here and you were my first customer."
"Well lucky me, giving you the appointment to meet me this afternoon is the best choice I've made in my whole life."
Lan said looking into Kris's eyes. Kris felt happy and shy at the same time, to be treated this way. They spent the next hour and a half talking about their past and their interests. At the end of their quality time, they had a surprisingly good understanding of each other, but Kris was dreading to ask one particular question from Lan the whole time. At last, Kris mustered up his courage and asked,
"Lan, what do I smell like, to you?"
Looking at his mate's cute blushing face, Lan answered with a cheeky smile,
"My angel, you smell like my most favored scent and flavor, vanilla."
After hearing this Kris's cheeks, ears and even his neck turned into a deeper shade of pink. Lan looked thoughtfully at Kris and asked the question that Kris was hoping he would never ask,
"By the way angel, how do I smell to you?"
Kris looked down at their intertwined hands which were now on his lap and shut his eyes in embarrassment. After staying that way for a moment, he opened his eyes and answered in a small voice,
"You smell like mint chocolate."
As he gave his answer Kris expected to hear a burst of loud laughter from his mate, but as he looked up he saw Lan's eyes looking directly at him lovingly. Lan broke their intertwined hands and cupped Kris's face and looked into the jet-black eyes that were now turning into a slightly darker shade of bright red. He slowly lowered his head until he felt Kris's soft lips against his. He could feel his heart beating rapidly and his blood rushing downwards, pooling in his lower abdomen. It tasted just as he had imagined, 'vanilla'. He raised his head a bit and smiled before he crashed his lips against the softer ones of Kris's again.
"I love you, my angel."
Lan said repeatedly in between his kisses. He had never felt like this with anyone before, and he clearly knew that he will never feel like this with anyone else ever. His kisses became more demanding as their lips moved in perfect sync against each other. He slowly bit Kris's lower lip which caused his angel to gasp, parting his lips. Taking advantage of that movement Lan slipped his tongue into Kris's mouth which was like a sweet craven for him. Their tongues fought over for the dominance of the kiss and eventually, Lan won the battle and started to take control of the kiss. Even though their kisses had started as sweet and passionate ones, as time passed they turned into more demanding and lustful ones, which resulted in Kris being pulled to be seated on Lan's lap as their make-out session was coming to an end. They were both going out of breath, so they broke the kiss inhaling deeply to recover the amount of air that they had lost while the 'hot' make-out session. After Kris calmed down his rapid breath, he leaned his head against Lan's shoulder and listened to the calming beat of his Lan's heart.
"I love you too, my Lan. No matter what happens I will never let you go and my love for you will never change even after my last breath."
Kris vowed, pressing Lan's palm to his chest. Lan looked down at his angel with a heart that was overflowing with love. Tears pooled at his eyes, he had never felt being loved this much ever in his life and he had never done anything to deserve such love from an angel, like his mate. Even though he had only met Kris a couple of hours ago, he felt as if he had known his angel for more than an eternity. He snaked his arms around Kris and kissed his forehead before he buried his head in the crook of his mate's neck.
Kris Mackwood
Kris felt happy as he felt Lan's warm lips on his forehead, but he was shocked as he felt a warm liquid running down his neck and before being absorbed by his jacket. He wriggled to get out from Lan's hold but Lan's words stopped him on his tracks.
"Please my angel, let us stay this way for some time. I have never felt being loved like this in my entire life, I am scared that this might be a dream and that when I wake up you will not be here."
Kris felt his heart sinking after listening to these words that left Lan's mouth. He hugged back his Lan and stroked his back, soothing him. He understood that both of them had spent their lives without getting any parental love. He remembered how his father had not even spared a glance at him and Mike when they were little saying that they had killed their mother, but now he could understand his father's feeling better as he could not even imagine a life without his Lan now. Losing their father's love had not made a big effect on their lives as he and Mike had each other, but Lan must have gone through all that alone. At that moment Kris made a vow to himself that he will not let Lan go through a heartbreak ever again.
After some time he felt the liquid stop running down his neck and Lan's breathing becoming more even. They heard a knock on the door, and they turned their head in that direction. Ming popped his head through the opened door and said,
"Come on guys, the dinners ready. If you take more time it will turn cold."
They broke their hug and stood up, as Ming had already left, Kris gave a quick peck to Lan's lips before they went to the dining room hand in hand. The table was filled with delicious-looking dishes. Lan and Kris sat side by side while Ming sat in front of them. They had a peaceful dinner talking about things under random topics. The dinner was quite delicious, and Kris understood that Lan was not bluffing when he said that Ming was the best cook he had met in his life.
After the dinner, Kris told Lan that they should just call it a night. Lan tried to make Kris spend the night at their place, but Kris politely turned down the request. Finally, after some long arguments, Lan agreed to let Kris go home, but Lan had to drop him home as Kris had arrived at Lan and Ming's house by Lan's jeep. Kris thanked Ming for the dinner and went out of the house to get on Lans' jeep to leave. But as he stepped outside of the house and looked around he understood that he was just two blocks away from his house.
He lived alone after he arrived in China. Before coming to China, Tyler had offered him to live with him and Wei, but Kris politely refused that offer because he did not want to invade his best friend's privacy. He felt ashamed as he realized that during their way here he had only focused himself on Lan and not on his surroundings. After realizing this Kris said,
"My house is just two blocks away from here. I can walk there myself. I will come to your office tomorrow morning to get my car."
"Nope. You are not going to walk home by yourself. Either I walk you or drive you."
Lan said in a tone which made Kris clearly understand that there was no room for an argument, but Kris did not like to back down without a fight, so he reasoned already knowing that he was going down,
"But Lan, you do know that if I teleported myself, it will not even take a millisecond for me to reach home."
Lan looked sternly at him before he said,
"No is no. So, do you want to spend the night here or walk home with me?"
Kris let out a long sigh and took the hand Lan was holding out for him to grab. As he grabbed Lan's hand Lan flashed a victorious smile at him. They walked towards his house holding hands. The cold wind was blowing, and the moon was shining in the night, 'what a romantic walk' Kris thought to himself and smiled. He looked up at Lan, who was walking silently with an expression that Kris could not read, on his face. Kris sensed something flying past them with a 'whoosh' and hit the tree straight ahead of them, as he took a close look and realized that it was a crossbow arrow. 'Weird', Kris thought, at the same time he sensed thousands of arrows flying towards them. They were being hunted.
