3rd Person
Ever since Lan and Kris stepped out of Lan's house, Lan could sense someone following them from afar, hiding in the shadows. He thought that he should tell Kris about this, but as he turned his head towards Kris, he saw how his angel was enjoying the atmosphere. It was a truly beautiful night, but whoever that followed them were definitely not out to enjoy the wind and moonlight. He was thinking of going back home with his angel when the first crossbow arrow flew past them and hit a tree ahead of them. He knew these crossbow arrows too well, those were the arrows used by rouges to hunt alpha wolves.
Those arrows were normal, but the iron arrowhead was coated in a concentrated wolfsbane essence. One hit was enough to kill an alpha wolf, if they were not given the proper treatment within an hour, also the treatment was also not an easy one. The wounded wolf was to be fed with smashed bones of a direct ascendant mixed with their mate's blood for three times a day, for two days as the antidote. After that, the poison will wear off after the wounded wolf rests for three days directly.
Lan could feel Kris heightening his senses in order to reach the attackers and the shock on his face as he realized that the hunters were werewolves. Without spending any time to explain, Lan grabbed Kris's hand and started running towards the nearby forest. Under normal circumstances, a rouge should not be able to have the speed to catch up with a running alpha wolf, but the ones that were attacking them now seem to be on some kind of a boost that heightened their strengths. It was clear that they were targeting Lan and not Kris, and that fact bought relief to Lan, his angel was safe for now.
Now they were on the outskirts of the forest, still running at their full speed. Suddenly Lan felt an arrow hit the back of his left shoulder where his mate symbol was, he could feel the poison getting into his bloodstream and rushing towards his heart. At the moment Kris was running in front of him so Kris did not see Lan getting shot by an arrow as Lan didn't make any sound, and Kris also did not know that the arrows shot at them were arrows specially designed to hunt alpha wolves.
They were still running but the attackers did not seem bothered about following them, they looked as if they were willing to follow them to the end of the world if it meant that they could kill Lan. Lan could feel his strength starting to drain. He was running, and it had caused the poison to spread in his blood faster than the usual pace. Lan could no longer run, so he slowed down and leaned his body to a tree. The arrows were still being fired at them, as Kris felt Lan slowing, he stopped running and turned around for the first time after they started running, and the scene in front of him made his blood run cold.
Kris could see Lan panting vigorously, his face was drained from blood, an arrow was stuck on the back of his left shoulder where their mate symbol was. Kris had no problem if anyone hurt him but no one, no one could hurt his Lan. Kris could feel his beast taking control of him as he was raged, and without any objection he obliged. Kris's eyes turned bright red and a loud growl left his delicate lips, resounding through the forest, giving a warning to the hunters that they were not going to get away after hurting his mate. A protective shield appeared around Lan, Lan stared at the scene in front of him shock clearly displayed on his face. Lan knew that Kris's ability was to learn any ability he saw, but Lan had no idea how many abilities Kris had learned so far.
Kris's nails grew longer and even before Lan could turn his head to the direction of their attackers, Kris moved in the speed of light and slashed each and every neck of the hunters who were following them. Kris looked like a demon who had just broken out from the hell. His navy-blue suit was soaked with the blood of their attackers, his face was stained with the splashed blood and his eyes gleamed in bright red giving him a look of a bloodthirsty murderer. After the lifeless bodies of their attackers dropped to the ground he scanned the area to see if there were any more attackers.
Lan could see that his angel had let him be controlled by his beast, and also that Kris was overstepping the boundaries of humanity and losing his self-control over his inner demon. Lan knew that it will be too late if he let Kris act this way any longer and that he was the only one who could reach out to his angel. So he gathered the last of his strength and whispered in a lovely way,
"My Angel,"
That was all it took for Kris to come back to his senses, his eyes turned back to their normal jet-black color. As he looked around he could see that he had almost lost control over his bloodthirsty beast. He had never felt such a rage ever in his life, and suddenly he remembered why he got angry, 'his Lan was hurt', as this registered in his mind he took down the protective barrier around Lan and kneeled down, letting Lan rest his head on Kris's chest.
"You controlled it. I'm proud of you my angel."
Lan said touching Kris's cheek with his shaking hand. In their long conversation about each other, Kris had told Lan that he never lets his beast take control as he had not found an emotional anchor yet. Pureblood vampires had an inner beast with ultimate powers and only a genuine concern about their loved ones was able to bring it out, but they should have a strong emotional anchor, someone who could help them trigger back to their own self from the senseless demon. If they let their beast stay in control for too long, they will lose their own self. Tears rolled down Kris's cheeks as he whispered,
"Lan"
Kris turned around Lan to take a good look at his wound, Lan hissed in pain from the sudden movement.
"Sorry love, but I need to heal your wound."
Kris said explaining his actions. Lan knew that his angel had learned the ability to heel, but his wounds were different. He wanted to tell this to Kris, but he could feel his consciousness slipping from his grasp and the darkness surrounding him. Kris had put Lan into a deep sleep in order to stop him from feeling any pain as he healed his Lan's wound.
Kris carefully pulled out the arrow and dropped it to the ground below, then he placed his palm on Lan's wound and closed his eyes. He concentrated and released his healing energy into Lan's wound through his palm. After he felt that he had released enough amount of energy to heal a wound caused by an arrow, he took off his palm and opened his eyes. After Kris opened his eyes, he was puzzled to see Lan's wound still there. He was sure that he had released a good amount of energy to heal an arrow wound, to understand the reason why his ability did not work on Lan's wound, he removed Lan's jacket and tear opened his shirt. The wound looked fresh, blood oozing out of it, but Kris noticed something unusual in the wound.
Lan's wound was in the middle of their mate symbol, but the unusual thing was the veins that had turned black around his wound like some kind of poison was spreading through them. Kris picked up the arrow that he had just dropped to the ground and inspected the arrowhead. It was a normal crossbow arrow with an iron arrowhead, but as he looked closely he could see that the arrowhead was coated in a violet substance. Then it hit him, the arrow Lan was hit was coated in wolfsbane. He knew that wolfsbane was a powerful poison to wolves, that could even kill an alpha wolf within an hour. His mind was going crazy thinking of the limited options that he had in saving his mate.
Kris picked up Lan in bridle style and teleported them into his bedroom. He gently lied Lan on his bed and took off Lan's shirt which he had torn halfway already. Kris took off his jacket and went to the bathroom. He came back with fresh towels and a bowl of warm water. As he stripped Lan out of all his garments, he momentarily froze seeing the naked godly body of his mate. Lan's body was perfect, no beyond perfect with all the body parts well built. Kris shook his head at his own perverted ideas and reminded himself that he needed to heal Lan before doing anything else, as he was already losing time.
He cleaned Lan's body thoroughly wiping off all the blood that had come from his wound. As the wound had stopped bleeding now there was no need to dress it, but the black veins seemed to be spreading further like a cobweb. Kris dressed him in one of his cotton pajamas and gave a kiss to Lan's forehead before he headed to his office room. In his office room, he straightly went to his working desk and opened a drawer on the left. In that drawer was a package wrapped in a brown paper. He took it to his hand and remembered how he received it.
It was two years ago, in Canada when Kris had started to feel his body going through some changes. He had started to feel the heat once a month. He asked Mike to check him as he was a doctor but his brother was unable to give him any kind of scientific explanation, all Mike could say was that there was no explanation for his state in modern science. So instead of seeking a scientific explanation, they had gone to meet a shaman, hoping that they will be able to get some kind of a believable explanation from him. As soon as the shaman saw Kris, he smiled and told them that he was expecting their arrival. The explanation the shaman had given Kris for the ongoing differences of his body was that he was a pureblood who was able to conceive by his mate's seeds.
Kris was beyond surprise, but he did not have any proof to say what the old shaman had said was a lie. So without any objections he had to believe what the old man had said but thinking about it now he was delighted at the thought of being able to be pregnant with Lan's children. The shaman had given Kris a lot of instructions to follow, and as they were about to leave, the shaman had given this package to Kris saying that this medicine will be able to save his mate from wolfsbane. At that time Kris had no idea what the shaman had said as he knew that purebloods are never fated to be mates with someone from another race, and also that wolfsbane had no effect on any vampire. But now he understood what the shaman had said that day, that old man had known all along that his mate was going to be a wolf.
Kris carefully unwrapped the package, inside was a dried tree branch and an instruction manual on how to prepare the medicine. He thoroughly read the instructions and blushed as he read the last sentence which was written in red ink. 'After taking this medicine and resting for three days straightly, the wolf who consumed this medicine will be able to release seeds that have a high possibility of fertilizing.', it said. Kris shook his head thinking about the pervert old shaman who dared to write that under the instructions in red ink, knowing very well that whoever reads these instructions would pay extra attention to this line.
He went to the kitchen and placed the dried tree branch to a small pot before he cut his own wrist. He was supposed to boil the branch in his own blood and make Lan drink the mixture after the branch dissolves into his blood. Lan was to take this medicine before six hours went by after being poisoned, so Kris had some more time. He placed the pot with the branch on the stove, turned the stove on, and held his wrist above the pot letting his blood drip into the pot. After about half an hour, the branch started to dissolve into the boiling blood in the pot. As it fully dissolved, he retreated his hand and tried to heal his wound.
Kris understood that he did not have enough strength to heal himself, so he opened the cupboard where he had his infirmary kit and took it out. He took a bandage and wrapped it around his wrist before he drank a painkiller to subdue his pain. He put the infirmary kit back to where it was and closed the cupboard. Then he closed his eyes, feeling his body absorbing the medicine he took and taking effect. He turned the stove off, put the medicine mixture into a small bowl, and made his way back to his bedroom, where his beloved mate was lying motionlessly.
