The gang – me, Han, Hunter, Jacob, Wesley, and Becca – were in what we called the red room where we usually drank and get high. I don't particularly like these people but I had no better options than them. They're better than a bunch of geeks and nerds who aren't capable of taking my pains away.
"Hey, Four."
I turned to Hunter who just finished smoking a pot. I hissed at him but he was amused and plasters a playful smirk. "The fuck do you want?"
"No need to be such a bitch like you always are, Lakey." He imitates Han making me roll my eyes in frustration. "I heard Connor's back in town."
I stopped playing with my bottle at the sound of his name suddenly being brought up when he's been fucking dead for the past years. For a moment, my mind went completely blank at the thought of having to face him over again. Fucking Connor.
Yearend parties. I never understood why people liked attending these but I came. I still fucking came even if I was in opposite thoughts. I'd blame Han but I did came with my own will so I guess there's no one to blame but me if this turns out to be the lamest party.
"Come on! At least pretend like you're enjoying." She wraps her arms around me so I jerk them away and rolled my eyes. "Look around! The whole place is alive!" she danced carelessly. "And it's already two in the morning!" she giggled.
"I could have been in bed by now." I yelled to her ear. "Drowning myself. Hanging myself. Anything would be better but here."
"Hunter's got weed for us." Huh. "Let's go."
Okay. Now she's talking. "I need to go to the bathroom."
"We'll meet you upstairs then. Same room."
I turned away with a nod and squeezed myself into the crowd to make my way through the kitchen. I wasn't going to fucking piss. I just needed to have one drink before I actually take that weed. I looked around and saw a guy leaning against the counter smiling at whatever he was watching. My eyes caught sight of the red cup he was holding so I walked closer to him to see if it wasn't empty and it wasn't.
I smirked and grabbed the cup from the guy, drank it all up before he takes in away from me.
He just watched me drink his with an amused smile. "That was my drink."
"I must have thought it was mine, oops." I covered my lips with my hands like I was sincere.
"So are you going to get me a new one?" he asks and I sneered in disbelief.
"I think you can do it yourself." I tap his chest before I turned back but he grabs my wrist and made me walk back to where I exactly was seconds ago.
He grins and I stare at him waiting for an explanation. "A red-head girl who drinks like that should be a keeper, shouldn't it?" His smile grew bigger.
I examined his face. His hair was gelled up messily and his eyes were alien green. He was pretty decent looking. Who is this new guy? I've never seen him around here before neither have I seen him on campus.
"Connor." He lifts up his hand and waits for me to shake it.
I free my wrist from his grip and said, "And I'm not someone you should be talking to. Hi and good bye. Excuse me." I push him to the side and grunted. I don't have time for his fucking games and I was way too eager to get some of the weed before Han takes it all.
"Hey Fire!"
I froze. Fire wasn't my name but I stopped thinking that it was me. I turned back around crossing my arms and stared at the guy who seemed happy that I turned. "It's Forest."
He smiles crookedly and walks closer to me again. "Forest. Thank you." For fucking what? "You like people calling you other names before telling your real name?"
"No, I don't let anyone know my name." I shake my head. "And I'd hate if you started calling me that."
"What, Fire?" He chuckles. "The name suits you though."
I raised a brow.
"Especially with that hair." He suddenly ran his fingers over my hair and pulls out a rose from behind. "For you."
I stared at the rose he was handing me and took it from him. He instantly smiles. "Your techniques are as old as my great great grandmother." I pulled his collar closer to me and leaned over to his ear whispering, "At least show something different when you're trying to impress a girl."
I finally turned and left.
"I assume that's a green light?!"
I peek at the guy from the staircase, grinning. I waved the rose in the air as I continued my way up. "Thanks for the rose, Romeo!" Whoever that guy was needs to learn that I don't fucking do boyfriends, not dates, and not fucking love. The moment I took the last step before reaching the second floor, I threw the rose away and proceeded to the room.
FUCKING CONNOR. "So?" I replied coldly and diverted my attention to Hunter whose smirk was growing wider.
"You still remember him though right?"
"And you're asking why exactly?" I raised my brow at Hunter displeased.
He lets out a small laugh as he approached me. "You know," he leans closer to me. "For old time's sake."
How can I forget that fucking asshole?
"Holy shit. You need to get out, Four!" Han suddenly pulls me so hard until we reached the field. I tried shaking her which would, under normal circumstances, work on her but today, she was undeniably stronger than normal days.
When we got there, I was surprised to see a huge crowd cheering like there was a fucking celebrity or something. "What the fuck is happening here?" I turned to ask Han but she was looking up with a wide smile.
"Look!"
I followed her line of vision and my eyes sting from the sudden bright light from the sun that hits my fucking eyes. I squint my eyes to see what the hell was happening until I hear the buzz of the speaker.
"Forest Young!"
My eyes widened. Did I just fucking hear my name coming out from the speakers that linked to other speakers inside the entire campus? What the fuck is actually happening. Holy shit, I'm actually scared for myself.
"Look here!"
I scan for who was talking and saw Connor standing on the highest level of the bleachers with a microphone on his hand. He waves his hand up in the air and puts on probably the widest, brightest smile I have ever seen in my entire life.
"Hey, Fire."
"Who would have thought that someone would actually go crazy like this for you? This is fucking insane!" I hear Han say which made me frown, questioning myself with the same questions she had. Connor have been annoyingly following me around, forcing me to talk to him and be friends with him, and telling me how much he likes me, but I never really did took him seriously.
"I really like you. I don't know why you don't believe me. I don't know why you don't want to believe but I do. I really do like you and I'm standing here today. In front of everyone, confessing my sincere feelings for you. In front of everyone I want to ask you to be my girlfriend."
What the fuck.
"Forest Young, will you be my girlfriend?!"
Everyone turns to me like it was a fucking scene from a movie. He suddenly gestures something and at that instant, a man hands me a megaphone. At first, I wondered why he was giving me this then I figured I have to use it for my response because it won't be possible for him to hear whatever my answer would be which is, "In front of everyone, I want to answer you," I paused. "FUCK NO!"
The crowd who was witnessing this fucking drama that's apparently happening before their eyes, mocks Connor. "Oh come on! Really?!" He laughs.
"My answer is a big fat no!"
"In front of everyone, you're rejecting me?" he asked. "You're one charming girl, Four." I can almost see Connor smile. I thought he'd be running away in shame but he didn't.
"What, did you think I would say yes if people would be watching?"
"I did!" he replied, his voice almost trembling. "I guess I failed huh?"
I snorted. "Does my answer sound like a success to you?"
"No."
"My answer exactly."
How can I fucking not remember that fucking name, that fucking guy, that fucking fucktard and all his bullshit, that fucking human being? How can I not fucking remember that stupid ass when he ruined my already fucked up life? Why is he even fucking asking? Fucking asshole.
"The two of you were really close right?" he asks but he didn't have to ask as he already knew the answer. "So I thought you'd be delighted to hear the news. I mean, don't you just miss the bastard?" That annoying smile. Hunter was bringing him up on purpose to annoy the hell out of me.
"It's a little ironic how fiery you are but you're so cold."
I glared at the guy who just spoke. Of course it was Connor. No one's ever as stubborn as he is and it's almost impossible to not remember his very deep voice. All the nagging led me too attached to him. "And your point is?"
"My point is I like both fire and ice so,"
I raised a brow at him. "Nice try but keep trying. They're not really working buddy." I smirked at him before slamming my locker at his face and proceeded to walking out of the building. He tagged along unfortunately.
"When will you stop rejecting me, Four?" He asks.
"When will you stop liking me, Connor?" I turned to him and he smiles.
"Never?"
For a moment, I felt my heart race a little and I forgot how to respond.
"Did it work?"
I sneered. "That's my answers to your question too."
Fucking Connor. "Shut the fuck up." I said before rolling my eyes and taking another gulp from my bottle. I'm already stressed out than I normally am, I can't be more stressed for Hunter to enjoy. God fucking dammit.
"Don't be such a bitter pussy, Four." Hunter smirks. "You should just laugh at whatever that's happened in the past like a normal ex would do." Fuck you. "Unless, you still fucking like the ass—"
"I said shut the fuck up, Hunter." I glared at Hunter but he seemed to be enjoying the annoying act he's pulling with me.
The group fell silent and they turn to me with fear in their eyes. They know too well that once I say I said with fuck, I'm ready to kill someone. Hunter was the only one enjoying at this point and I'm not liking that he's fucking back. If I could kick him back to rehab, I would but I couldn't and all I could do is break his fucking nose and let him leave after having a bloody bath.
"Why are you suddenly so grumpy, Four?" I stood with my eyes fuming in anger but he still doesn't stop talking. "Why? Oh." I tightened my jaws as I remained patient towards the asshole. "You don't like the sound of your ex being men— FUCK!"
I slam the vodka bottle onto his head to make him shut his filthy mouth.
"Oh shit!" I hear someone gasp.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" He touches the back of his head and I grinned as soon as I see blood dripping from his fingertips. "I'm going to fucking kill you!"
"Maybe next time you'll finally learn when to shut your fucking mouth."
"You—"
"Okay. Stop it!" Just when he was about to attack at me, Han appears and pushes the two of us away from each other and I gladly step back. "You two. Jesus. Are you trying to kill each other?!" she yells. "You can do that in the fucking Hunger Games arena but not here!"
"Now you know who you shouldn't be messing with, dickhead."
When Hunter stepped to attempt an attack, Han pushes him away and glares at the two of us. "Get that head stitched first you fucking dimwit or you'll bleed to death!"
"Maybe try stitching his fucking mouth first so he knows when to shut up." I fired back turning to walk away from this mess he put me into.
"You know you won't fix anything by breaking more, Forest!" He yells and I gulped. "You know that too well." Fucking Hunter.
