Chereads / To Convince The Devil / Chapter 7 - A Suspect Morning

Chapter 7 - A Suspect Morning

"Good morning, you look like you were able to sleep pretty well." Said the Devil as she stood outside of the tent. "There are some new clothes in there, the ones you slept in were bloody and I think you've moved past them by now and need something fresher." She added, her shadow growing smaller against the tent as she moved away to give Raphael some space to change. He looked around not immediately seeing what she meant but low and behold there was a neatly folded set of clothes, some dark green ripped jeans and a loose fitting black and white shirt, they were both from his closet back at his house. How did she get his clothes?

It took a while to change but eventually he had switched out of his outfit and noticed he was clean. There was no dried blood, there was no staining, there was no dirt or dust visible, even his hair was cleaned completely. He was confused deeply because there was no way he could have showered or bathed in his sleep. He brushed it off for the moment and threw the new clothes on. Walking out of the tent to see The Devil standing off to the side facing away from him. "Hey, I'm all changed. Why are you standing over there? If you've been watching me for my life, you've probably seen me naked, right Lucy?" Raphael said wondering as to why she was standing so far off. "Did you call me Lucy?" She asked confusedly wondering why he said it instead of The Devil which he had been calling her for a while.

"Sorry what, I just woke up well for the first time in a while, I'm not fully sure what I'm saying, Don't even need coffee, I feel like I'm alive ironically." Raphael said, rubbing his neck to avoid the question. "I hoped you would, and I may have seen you naked before a few times but looking away is still a courtesy." She replied not quite forgetting the name. She turned around to Raphael, eyeing him up and down. The two walked slowly once again, looking behind, there was no trace of a tent or even the clothes that Raphael could see, they were gone like they never existed. Raphael glanced towards her, she was in another suit, this time it was a dark blue one, with a purple frilled undershirt and no tie, but now she had a necklace, a small silver line with a ruby in the cast above her chest. Looking at it he could only think of the dress from the dream.

"How did you get my clothes? I know these were in my closet, and how did you get the tent? I'm not fully sure what kind of ethereal magic you have." Raphael asked as he looked over at her with confusion painted on his face. "I grabbed your clothes from your closet and can do these kinds of things, it would take too long to explain what an old book didn't say I could do and in here time is ironically everything, but I folded your clothes myself, you hang all of them and lots of them are wrinkled. "So my house hasn't been touched?" He asked in worry of his home. "Actually no time has passed since you died, time doesn't exist here in the same conceptual way as it does on earth, everything we do here is done in the same instant in the liminal spaces between moments." she replied, looking back at him, seeing the unnerved look on his face. The two stopped and stared at each other for a moment, somehow every other glance from her felt like it was going through him, like he was made of glass.
