"Why are you crying? You see something once, you've seen it a hundred times." Said Raphael looking away from her face. "You are saying that because you don't know them. I saw everyone one of them constantly, I knew them by name, I saw why they are here, you didn't" The Devil replied with a cold hand wiping her cheek. She turned to her side once again to continue walking on but Raphael couldn't move. The sight was like a car crash, he couldn't look away. It made him slightly queasy but he felt like he needed to look at it. It took a moment but eventually he grabbed the will to drag his feet by and walk on. Each step farther away obscuring the scene with tall grass and heavy fog. It felt like walking away in silence was the same as dismissing it all as nothing.
"How do you feel?" Said the Devil in a cold voice. "What do you mean, I feel a little sick I guess, I don't enjoy the view of being stuck within sadness for prolonged periods of time upwards of 30 years. " Raphael replied confusedly. "That's not what I mean, How do you feel about that, are you disgusted, are you confused, are you concerned? What do you feel after seeing that?" She asked quietly. "All of the above I guess, I don't think there is a sane person that could look at that and not want to help or ask questions or something at the very least." He replied, confused why she would ask. "You'd be surprised, a lot of people who walk on the gravel road are more worried about getting to the end instead of reflecting. This isn't even the only instance of this right now, there are thousands upon thousands upon thousands of gravel roads with their own devil guiding some other person to the end.
Despite how vast this road may seem, it was insignificant. It was an event that was repeating every second of every minute with no end, just layering on top of itself infinitely until the end of the road is met and the road behind vanishes. Every single time there was a new person to reflect on life and their choices, every single time a different outcome, every single time another choice. "Makes sense," Raphael replied shallowly. The Devil turned around to look in Raphael's eyes. "That's your only response? Just makes sense?" She asked. "Yeah, it's not rocket science, maybe 7 thousand people die every day in the U.S. alone and you said time doesn't work like in life when in purgatory." He replied, sweating with her face up in his.
The Devil stepped back and looked him in the eyes "You don't seem concerned by the idea of this one road being small and pointless" The air went tense and quiet for a moment. Rapael looked down from her eyes and into the gravel beneath him. "It's not hard to understand when it's how you saw life as a whole huh?" The Devil Stepped back gritting her teeth. She turned around and started walking again. Maybe 10 feet got between them before she turned back, "Are you gonna sulk or do you have an intention in coming along?" He looked up with cold eyes and began walking slowly towards her. She turned back around and walked along letting him catch up on his own. "I told you, you weren't alone but you don't really let that sink in do you?"
