Chapter 53 - Epic Powerup

The many factions that arrived quickly separated and went further into the depths according to their original plans. It was agreed that speed was of the essence, as they could not stay too long for fear that their bases would be left wide open for attack. If this attack took too long, the consequences could be disastrous. They were on the clock to destroy as much of Dominius as they could and return to prevent any counterattacks.

One of the first things that Tyrin did was to send out an electromagnetic pulse or EMP attack down into the depths of the earth. This would guarantee that all electronics would fail and destroy much of the valuable data in any electronics and computers. None of the factions that were taking part in this operation were interested in the data and research of crazy lunatics like Famine and Pestilence. Destroying was far better than collecting. Taria faction's primary goal is to disrupt electronics and open any locked mechanisms so that the other factions can hit their goals. A secondary goal was the collection of the Velyon battle suits. Tyrin hoped to capture multiple battle suits so that they could replicate the technology.

What made the battle suits so important was that it allowed for the passive absorption of the radiation around the wearer. Just wearing the suit over time would increase the power of the wearer. It would allow a person to gain strength and improve their control over their powers the longer one wore the suit. Not only did it allow one to significantly increase their battle powers, but it could meld into the skin.

When the EMP attack reached all the way to the opposition's void emblem, Tyrin had a complete map of the facilities based on the electromagnetic waves that bounced back to him. He immediately transcribed the details of the map onto a pendant. All the other factions had a copy of this pendant, which meant that everyone now had a detailed map of the entire facility.

The facility was huge and since the elevators would effectively be knocked out, the earth power users brought by the factions employed their abilities to burrow into the earth and tunnel down. The detection specialists detected strong life forces spreading out down below. The factions prepared themselves for the first engagement with whatever they were.

Kain was currently feeding in an enclosure that he broke into. There were still four fire frogs still scattered in different parts of the enclosure. They had long since stopped lobbing fireballs at Kain because he simply used his wind power to divert the projectiles away from him. Kain had already eaten three of them and was devouring the 4th frog. When he finished devouring the corpse, Kain felt the frog become his fifth entity and he gained the powers of fire resistance, fire control, and an enhanced version of the fireball, fire beam. Once he gained the entity, he no longer bothered with the rest of the frogs and phased out of the enclosure. He quickly moved to another enclosure that had a new type of monster.

He became invisible before entering the enclosure because he didn't know the capabilities of the new monster. They looked like steel falcons and they were as tall as Kain. Their feathers were metallic and Kain hoped that underneath they actually had flesh that he could consume. As soon as Kain entered the enclosure, all seven of the creatures launched steel pinions towards Kain.

They could see through his camouflage ability! He activated tentacles to flow out and create a protective field around his body, knocking aside the pinions. Kain also tested out his new fire beam ability. He aimed his hand towards one of the falcons and charged up a ball of liquid fire. Once he felt that the ball built up enough, he released it and a bright beam of liquid fire rocketed towards the falcon. The falcon didn't have enough time to dodge and practically melted as it shrieked with its death throes.

Damn, the beam was too powerful. I need to devour them, not obliterate them. The rest of the falcons realized that they were the prey and not the predator, so they launched themselves into the air in a panic. Unfortunately for them, they were locked into an enclosed space and Kain's tentacles grew vorpal hooks and tore them apart. Thankfully, the falcons had plenty of flesh underneath the feathers. Kain still had to devour six of them before it became his 6th entity.

Kain received the powers of flight, enhanced vision, and projectile pinions. He flew into the air effortlessly, and when combined with his wind control he went so fast that he burst through the enclosure by accident, allowing the lone surviving falcon to shriek in joy and escape the death trap. Kain didn't really care as he got what he needed.

Using his enhanced vision, he found that he could see through walls as well as zoom in to see the most minute details. This ability was a sniper's dream. He focused on his projectile pinion ability and his tentacles sprouted vorpal pinions that launched into the air. Choosing a tree in the enclosure as a target, Kain was able to change the trajectory of the pinions to bore holes through it. It became something like swiss cheese and collapsed upon itself from the structural damage. The pinions returned to hover dangerously around Kain.

Extremely satisfied with his new abilities, the pinions faded away to nothingness. He moved on to the next prey.

Three gigantic tiger zombies prowled the next enclosure. One of them was easily 3 times the size of Kain. While in his camouflage mode, he sneaked up behind one of them and then jumped into the air and smashed his fist down on the large feline's spine.

*CRACK*

*HOWL*

The tiger howled in pain causing a shockwave of sound to launch Kain away into the air. Kain used his flight ability and wind control to stop his body from crashing into the enclosure. The crippled tiger turned its head and shot out laser beams from its eyes. The beams were not able to affect the walls or the ground because the enclosure was designed to be incredibly heat resistant. That didn't stop the hurt tiger to shoot beams all over the place to try and attack the invisible attacker. Kain launched pinions that bore holes through the tiger's body and the tiger finally collapsed onto the ground with raspy breaths. Kain went over and absorbed its last remaining life essence and began devouring the incredibly large corpse.

One wasn't enough to turn it into an entity, but two was. Kain made quick work of the second tiger and upon devouring it, he gained his 7th entity. His new evolved abilities included the ability to shoot laser beams from his eyes, howl shockwave, and primal fear. Kain shot out powerful laser beams from his eyes and then howled, causing a shockwave of sound to expand out from him. The surviving tiger grunted in pain as it backed itself into a corner of the enclosure.

Testing out the primal fear ability, he didn't notice much from the tiger as it would probably not be affected by its own ability. He noticed that it was a passive effect that he can turn on and off at will. For now, he turned it off. Noticing that he had basically devoured all the new creatures, he left the enclosure to check his overall gains.

The disk trembled in his hand as it showed 1450x strength and the gold light was nearly a darkish black gold light. He was on the verge of breaking through to the next tier. Kain felt like 1500x strength was the cutoff mark. He quickly took out 2 purple pills and a red pill and absorbed them. He felt a sensation of breaking through after the red pill disappeared and then he gained another secondary ability for his main absorption power.

He could now create glowing balls of pure radiation, which could be refined from his absorption ability. Taking out another red pill, he absorbed the pill in one hand and in the other hand a small green pebble of radiation hovered in his hand. He knew intuitively that he could absorb this pebble and improve his power. More importantly, he felt like he could send it into another person's body and improve their power as well. He waved his hand and the floating pebble disappeared and was stored in his void dimension.

This ability would help him to power up his brothers and Kain was happy with the new ability. He checked how many streams of various powers he collected earlier from those defenders. Checking his psyche, he saw that there were many more streams: 8x of fire power, 3x concealment, 3x phasing, 3x wind control, 2x poison and pathogen immunity, 2x sound control, 3x healing, 1x sleep power, 5x ice power, 4x force manipulation, and 4x transformation.

Kain couldn't help but smile because he could create 2 entities from the streams: fire and ice. He merged 5 of the streams of fire and 5 of the ice and they solidified and entered his cell repository. Kain was now up to 9 entities and only needed one more to reach the first level of the gradient of will.

More importantly, Kain would no longer have any strength loss from using his semen. His thoughts went to his girls waiting for him at home. As soon as he was done here, he would hurry home to 'devour' them.

Expanding his detection to observe the progress of the various factions, he saw that his potential allies were engaging and defeating hybrids. There were still many hybrids roaming further in and he saw enemy forces teleporting in from a void emblem.

It seems like he wasn't too late to the party. He quickly ascertained the quickest route down and flashed away.
