Chapter 54 - Ghost

Felgin watched as Death went on a rampage in his room. Walls were smashed apart and furniture was simply obliterated. Large cut marks severed entire sections of the room and craters were blasted into the ground.

"HOW THE FUCK DID THEY GET PAST ALL THE DEFENSES AND TRAPS? ARGGG!" yelled Death.

Felgin shook his head as Dominius had sustained quite a loss from this robbery. The treasure in that room was more than half of the faction's entire reserves. Years of stealing from other factions and confiscating the treasures of those that perished in the arena…had all gone to benefit someone else.

If that wasn't bad enough, the robbers had even taken away Marissa, the previous Lord of the Arena and ex-master of Death. Felgin never thought it was a good idea to leave any loose ends and Marissa was an incredibly strong individual. If she were somehow freed from her petrified stasis, she would be an incredible thorn in Dominius' side. Most likely, she would also join the opposing factions and add her strength to theirs. She was not the former Lord of the Arena for no reason. It had taken the combined might of Death, Pestilence, and Famine to incapacitate her enough to petrify her.

Felgin remembered the beautiful Marissa and wanted more than anything to fuck her before she was petrified by Pestilence. However, Death was adamant about not dishonoring his former master. The hypocritical fool had to have a sense of honor, even after he had already betrayed her. It would have meant so much more each time Felgin gazed at the naked form of Marissa, if he knew that he fucked and impregnated her. He had totally missed his chance to impregnate a very powerful and beautiful woman.

Feeling the emptiness in his groin, Felgin was even more adamant about getting a new dick so that he could find someone just as powerful to impregnate. He wanted to undergo the operation by Pestilence because he lost his sleep power. Pestilence had told him there was a 50% chance to gain a second power as a hybrid. However, now that he had no power, it was a guarantee that he would gain a new power.

The next best option after that was to capture the strongest known healer in breitgaard, who was proficient enough with her power to heal dismembered limbs. However, this method would not grant him another power, which would make him incredibly weak. He despised the thought of not having a power, so this option was not really an option to him.

Seeing that Death was finally slowing down with his rampage, Felgin no longer thought about the past and focused on the present.

All around, it seemed like Dominius would not recover from this disaster. Even if all the major players survived, the lack of resources would eventually mean that the military or the Lavaris faction would have to absorb them.

Suddenly, the pendant that guided Death to Felgin floated out and a holographic screen appeared. On it, Famine appeared and started talking quickly. Death also turned towards the screen.

"Felgin, you must hurry down here using the void emblem on the surface. We are being invaded by our enemies and the operation to turn you into a sentient hybrid is at risk. The unconscious hybrids cannot be moved without waking them. If they awaken, they will rampage and we need you to come down and use your sleep power on them. This way they can be transported safely."

Felgin felt an epic migraine coming as he said, "Master, I no longer have the sleeping power. It was stolen from me!"

"WHAT? Who can steal powers? What did this person look like? We must capture him for research purposes." said a shocked Famine. Death's eyeballs were about to fall out of his sockets as well.

"I do not know his name. He attacked me while concealed. I also know that he has multiple powers." said Felgin.

"Multiple power user and can steal powers. Whatever original ability he has is revolutionary. This man must be found! The possibilities are endless if we can control him." said an ecstatic Famine.

"Famine, someone robbed the treasury clean. Marissa was also taken. The ones down there now must be the culprits. Let me take my forces down and we can pincer attack them between us. They will surely fall to us." said Death.

"WHAT? We needed that treasure to fund our research! You imbecile! I distinctly recall that it was your idea to place the treasury in your room. Your words were, 'Nobody would think to look in such an obvious place.' Thank goodness Pestilence kept some funds in his void dimension or we would be totally fucked after this loss." said a pissed Famine.

A red-faced Death did not retort back because he knew he fucked up big time.

"Let me make up for this and try to recover the treasure. I will harry their forces from behind. With my abilities, I can employ hit and run tactics." said Death.

"Normally, I would agree with such a plan, but it would be an impossible task. There are THREE factions invading right now and they brought all their strongest fighters. The only reason reinforcements were sent by our allies was because we need time to move all the research. That bastard Tyrin destroyed countless years of research by shooting an EMP down at us. I wish I could tear him apart!" said Famine.

"Felgin will take the void emblem down to you so he can begin his operation. In the meantime, I will slow them down by attacking with my forces. I will make sure to retreat back to the surface if they overwhelm us." said Death.

"Fine. Time is of the essence. A few of the weaker hybrids have already fallen to the enemy, but the stronger ones are about to engage and should slow them down. Most likely Dominius will fall out of the big five after this. We must pick up what pieces we can if we want to make a comeback in the future. Our allies have sent forces to attack the bases of the opposing forces in a bid to make them retreat." said Famine.

The holographic screen disappeared and the pendant returned to Felgin's hand. Death went over to a wall and used a key to open a secret entrance way.

"Take these stairs all the way down and you will find the void emblem. Hurry and start your operation. I will gather my forces and head down through the hypogeum entrance where we keep our captured monsters."

After saying those words, Death dashed away. Felgin hurried down the stairs.

Dargus was being beaten back by a hybrid as the main tank. The hybrid towered over Dargus as it smashed a fist down onto the shield blocking its way. Others in his faction were lobbing projectiles at the hybrid, to no avail. The vice commander, Mace, was trying to divert the hybrid's attention as the off-tank.

"Commander, I suggest we retreat or call for backup. These hybrids are tougher than we thought." shouted Mace.

"Damn it, if Tessa and her girls can take one of these down, we should be able to as well! This is a disgrace!" replied Dargus.

Suddenly, the hybrid went berserk and its power skyrocketed. He slammed a fist down on Dargus' shield and sent him flying. Blood spurted out of Dargus' mouth as he crashed into a few of his teammates.

Mace tried to jump in between the hybrid and Dargus, but was quickly caught in a one-handed death grip by the hybrid. The hybrid was just about to chomp down on Mace's head, when it suddenly screeched in horror.

Mace watched in shock as the hybrid shriveled and shrunk down in size. Eventually, the death grip on him loosened and Mace was able to throw off the arm and retreat backwards.

The hybrid was now no bigger than an average human and collapsed face down on the ground. All movements from it ceased.

The stunned members of Talrus were relieved at the sudden turn of events. Mace walked forward and flipped over the fallen hybrid. The various zombie parts of the hybrid were blackening and turning to ash. Eventually, only the shriveled human parts remained.

"Did it use a berserk skill and overdraw on its reserves? No matter! Guys, we just took down a hybrid! We are just as good as the top dogs, ha ha ha! Report this over the comm link to the others." said a jubilant Dargus.

Mace was suspicious of what just happened, but still reported the defeat of the hybrid over the comm. The other members of Talrus gathered around their leader and held an impromptu celebration.

The invisible Kain watched on with a smile on his face. He gained a berserk ability from absorbing the hybrid. At the same time, he had created another glowing ball of radiation that he estimated would boost a person by 100x strength. After he left and headed towards another hybrid, he placed the floating ball into his void dimension. He would have to figure out a name for these things.

In a short period of time, numerous hybrids were finished off mysteriously while facing off against the intruding forces. The comms link was overflowing with chatter about how the hybrids must be burning out for some strange reason.

Only the strongest among them were able to sense that an incredibly mighty figure was picking off the hybrids one by one with the greatest of ease.
