Standing at the entrance a trio lingers for a few seconds. Staring at the massive steel doors that serve as the main entrance. George breaks the silence first.
"Well guys I guess we should get going." He says. His voice slightly strained.
"Yeah, your right." Jason looks at his two best friends. George is fit, standing at about 5'10'' he has grey eyes and brown hair. Lillian is about 5'4" and with her swirling purple and silver eyes and long white hair she's kind of intimidating for someone so cute. "Well let's go guys."
As they walk to the front steps of the Fort Lewis hero school they each feel the pressure of their own goals press down on them. Jason wants to avenge his father maybe then the nightmares will go. His fathers killer had escaped that day killing two hero's and injuring another. Six civilians had died during the fight as well and about triple that were injured.
George wanted to help his brother and father in the fight against the forces of evil but they both looked down on him. They both had strength enhancement quirks while George's quirk was a mutation. He yearns to prove to them that he can fight right along side them.
Lillian. She was kidnapped at a young age by a group of villains who found her quirk useful for robberies and escapes. She knows they did other terrible things but when the pro hero's and police broke down their door half of them escaped. She desires to find the ones who escaped.
They enter into the school atrium where a pleasant looking woman with blonde hair and white eyes is waiting to direct new arrivals. "If you kids would take one of these each then follow the signs to your designated area that would be wonderful."
The trio each grab a card. And as they do they watch the paper shifts. The paper now showing a picture of each on their respective cards begins to harden and thicken slightly. Now each student holds a plastic identification card.
"If you'd make your way to your test groups that would be wonderful." The blonde woman says once more.
"Alright guys. I'll see you two at the end of the day." And with a fist bump to George and a quick hug with Lillian they all head their own ways.
Each testing room has about thirty to forty other applicants. In Jason's room there were about five of those whose quirk he could see. There was a guy that looked like a great white shark, a Minotaur, someone who had dragon like wings, some one with angelic wings, and an octopus.
As Jason is standing observing his competition a man walks in on a prosthetic leg and in a grey and red uniform. "EVERYONE!" He shouts over the milling crowd, once he gains their attention he's continues "I am the Pro Hero Zip. And I'm in charge of your tests for the day. Now find a seat and I'll explain what is going to happen." As he waits for everyone to sit he spots Jason and feels a twinge of pain for the boy. "Good, now in a minute I will pass out your tests. But before that I'll explain how the combat trial will work. There are seven possible test areas for you to fight in. As you know yours has been chosen already. You will be fighting in a cityscape against mock villains in the form of robots. Some of these bots have blades some have bullets others have nothing."
At this the student get rowdy "Are they seriously going to shoot and stab us?"
"We can die during this?"
"STUDENTS!" Zip shouts again. "The villains weapons are fake. The bullets are rubber and the blades foam. No one will die in these tests." As he says this the students let out a collective sigh. "Now I'll explain how you pass. These villain are points. Bare villains are worth one point, gun villains are worth three, and blade villains are worth five. The more points a villain is worth the more difficult it's is to take down." As he finishes explaining he walks over to a stack of papers and starts passing them out. "Now we do the written test. Begin as soon as you get your test. Those who don't finish the written don't participate in the combat test. You have two hours to finish this test.
With the tension higher than it was five minutes ago the students to be set to the task of completing the written test of the hero course entrance exam.
