Chapter 22 - Family reunion

Seth's POV:

This quest wasn't going as I expected, especially after that bull attack. I was in the corner making a small bomb to place on the bull. I felt terrible leaving Rital to fight him all alone.

I didn't want to hike up to the mountain, but I didn't see any other way to get up there. As we started walking, I glanced at Rital, specifically at her eyes. There was something so mysterious about her that I couldn't put my finger on.

I remembered the first time I saw her from my cabin. She was leaning on a small barrel filled with swords. She was clumsy and let her hand slip sending her to the ground. Girls around her were watching and she stood up immediately brushing herself off. I thought it was cute how clumsy she was.

She automatically caught my eye, but figuring out about her mom made me hesitant about her.

I really did think she was on her mom's side, but I soon realized that she was just a confused demigod knowing nothing about this world. I felt bad about how people were treating her.

She caught me looking at her but I kept my eyes on her making her turn away. I could have sworn there was a small blush on her cheeks.

We continued walking for about another hour and a half until we got to the mountain.

"Okay," she said in her silvery voice. "How should we do this?"

I started thinking, how would this go? "I don't think we have much to worry about since he is your grandfather." I replied. I look of concern came on her face but she just nodded.

We haven't talked a whole lot to each other, probably because she was not comfortable with me... yet.

We walked into one of the rocky caves in the mountain and soon it got really cold and icy.

Once we entered the actual base, it was fully covered in ice. Rital kept walking not phased my the cold while I was heating up my body with fire.

We came across huge door leading into a throne room. The doors were already open and we stepped in. Along the walls were ice statues of satyrs and demigods.

In front of us was a huge man look like he was made of ice, Boreas.

Rital has her jaw dropped to the floor admiring the scene. We approached the throne and bowed down to Boreas.

"Rise demigods." Boreas chanted.

Rital and I raised at the same time and when Boreas' eyes went to Rital has jaw dropped.

"Well, well. You do look just like her. I thought she lied about having a demigod child. You should have heard all her ranting about how she was in love."

A smile appeared on Rital's face but it soon faded. "Your highness," she spoke up. "We need your help finding your daughter Khione."

"Yes, she has been gone for a while. What do you seek from me?"

"Do you know where she went or why she went?"

"I do, but my information comes for a price. Do you see all these people turned into statues? Well I need another for my collection." He was pointing his giant finger at me and Rital glanced at me and smirked.

"That is a deal. But I need the information first. You can never trust a god." Rital said playing with snowflakes in her hand. "I will even do the honors of freezing him."

My heart picked up and I slowly walked back. She looked back at me and shook her head lightly. I stopped in my tracks and we both faced Boreas. "Fine, Khione thought she heard the voice of her true love, the one thing she has always wanted. She said she would be following it to an East mountain." He informed.

"What is the mountain?" I asked.

"First, I want him frozen."

"Grandpa," she said with a soft voice making his eyes go wide. "Trust me. I will freeze him one I get the information needed."

"Emerworth mountain. But beware, that mountain is filled with dark magic. Now, your end of the bargain."

Rital turned to me with her hands by her side with ice circling in them. 'Why didn't I run when I had the chance!' I thought. I started backing up and she gave me another look saying to trust her. She mouthed a word to me. 'When I do this, run!'

"Pose hero." She said. Boreas had a look of satisfaction across his face.

Out of no where. She formed a wall of ice between us and Boreas and yelled, "RUN!"

Both of us charged for the huge door and Boreas tackled the wall down and yelled in fury shaking the entire the cave. "How care you you rotten child!"

He were out the door and started to go to the path out of the cave. Boreas was following us shooting ice at me and Rital blocked it with her body. It didn't seem to affect her but she was holding her chest like it was burning.

We soon got to the tunnel out and Boreas couldn't fit in his god form, so he gave up still yelling. "Curse you child!"

Once we got out of the cave Rital collapsed on the ground pleading for heat.
