Chapter 23 - Runaways

Rital's POV:

My face was extremely pale and I looked malnourished. Seth made a small fire and I curled close to it and soon shot up looking the same I did before we went into the cave. I felt frozen and stiff. I always have stayed away from fire, but I needed it.

"Sorry," I said. "To much ice."

I got shot by Boreas' ice multiple times making my chest burn. It seem subsided and I felt as good as new.

Seth just smiled and nodded. I put some snow over the fire and it automatically died down into only smoke. "We should get out of here." I said picking up my backpack.

I was never going to freeze Seth, I never even thought about it. I can't believe Boreas, my grandfather, would want me to do such a thing. Good to know that psychos are in the family.

The sun was already down and the moon was rising. I considered asking if we should rest at a motel, but I wasn't as tired as I thought I would be.

We made good time walking down the mountain and started walking through the empty streets of Montreal. "We need to find out where Emerworth mountain is located. But all the cyber cafes are closed." I said.

"Doesn't mean we can't go in."

'Yes it does,' I thought. Seth ran across the street to a closed cyber cafe. It was very small and Seth held out his hand. "I think there is an entry way at the top." I rested one of my foot on his hand and was scared of putting my full weight on him.

"Rital, you are thin. I can handle your weight." He said as if he could read my mind. I applied weight to him and he boosted me up. I was on the roof and saw a hatch. "See anything up there?" Seth asked.

I hung my head over the edge of the building looking down at him. Our eyes locked and I couldn't get my eyes off him. She snapped my out of it and I shouted, "Yes!" to break the tension.

He chuckled and reached his hand up, I grabbed him and pulled him up on the roof. I turned the latch and the door flew open. I jumped in the cafe with Seth following me. He closed all the blinds and I sat down on a computer typing.

Seth has right behind me with his head inching away from my neck. I could feel his warm breath making me tremble. I kept typing ignoring him.

"New York!" I said. "That is our next stop."

"That is so far! Do you think we will have the time to get there and back?"

"Well, we traveled from Washington to Montreal and got all the information we needed to find where Khione is being held in one day, so I think the rest of the quest will be promising." I replied.

I turned around and saw him smile. 'Wow, that is cute.' I thought. I started shaking my head and turned away form him blushing. "We should get going before we get caught." I said wiping the history from the computer.

Again, Seth boosted me up out of the cafe and I pulled him up. We jumped down from the cafe on the side and we saw police in front waiting for the intruders to come out. We backed up and one of the two police officers spotted us.

Seth grabbed my wrist and we started running away while they chased us. "STOP YOU THEIFS!" One of them yelled. Even though we didn't steal anything, I didn't want to talk back. We kept running until we lost them.

Then I realized that me and Seth's hands were locked together. We looked at each other at the same time and both pulled our hands away form each other. I actually kinda liked it, it send a weird tingly sensation through my arm. We stood in awkward silence and Seth finally spoke up. "We should get going, but we should first rest and eat so we will be energized for the quest ahead."

I nodded and he walked towards a motel. I didn't feel comfortable sleeping in that small of a room with him in it.

"Hey Seth?" I asked as he turned around smiling. It was astonishing how positive he has been through this whole quest. "We saw a lot of caves, we should just rest there. We don't want to get in anymore trouble like we just did."

He nodded and we headed back to the mountains. He didn't hike much and settled for a cave forwards the bottom. Seth pulled out some of the food he brought and made a fire. He began cooking and served me a taco.

I was impressed with his cooking skills and smiled at him making him blush. Once we finished, I drank some more of my water. We were already out by now. "I saw a spring near by. I will go fill these up."

"Okay!" Seth said.

I walked out of the cave and soon arrived at the fresh-watered spring. I filled up all the water bottles and put them in my backpack.

I started walking back to the cave and when I entered I saw Seth sitting in front of the fire tearing up. I set down my backpack and sat down next to Seth. "What is wrong?" I asked.

"Fire brings back bad memories." He said.

"Ice does the same to me." I said back. He looked at me with a softened eyes and I smiled.
