Chapter 7 - 07. Fake dream

She was gone just maybe ten or fifteen minutes. But what happened in between was probably the cause of this.

Two kids sat on the floor with empty eyes, held their mother's dead body in their hands that was filled with holes.

It seems she woke up, and to save her children she protected them with her own body. The kids silently cried not daring to be loud and looked up as she entered.

A hiss escaped Anne's pressed lips as she tried to calm down. With a serious expression, she put the bag down and waved with her hand.

"Come to me. Let us revenge." The kids approached with empty eyes and just stood there as they were in complete shock now.

She picked up their mother's body and suddenly had an idea, or better said, she knew it is better to do this. Right now, with kids here.

"Let's give your mother her final rest. Do you have a pretty box?" She saw the girl rushing to bring a beautiful box with dried flowers glued around it.

"Mom made this for me." The girl opened the box and was inside more dry flowers.

"Empty the box since I'll put your mom's ashes inside. Like that your mother won't become food for monsters and will have a pretty resting place. OK?"

Saying such words in any other time would be creepy, but these children saw clearly all the nasty things happening and she knew they could handle this.

The girl kneeled next to her mother and started praying after she was done she looked at Anne with expectation.

Anne smiled at her, took her gloves off her hands and after giving a small prayer, she lightly planted her hands on the body. Not even a second later the body turned into a handful of dust that she put it into the box. The girl added flowers on top of it, for the mother to feel comfortable...

Looking at her actions Anne smiled and put gloves right back. Then took kids by hands as a huge terrifying smile appeared on her face. "Let's find those that did this..."

The girl's eyes suddenly became watery. "Please don't look for bad people. They will kill you as well. Please, don't..." Finally, tears started running down her cheeks and Anne could only flick her head.

The girl stopped her crying and blinked at her in surprise.

Anne went down and looked straight at her face and then at the little boy that looked unusually calm.

"I am quite strong. But you are right, it's fine for me to go after them, but I can't take two weak crying babies. Too dangerous. I think there is a person who wouldn't mind more kids around."

She picked up the boy and looked at his eyes. Calm, too calm. He just nodded at her and she rose her eyebrow. "It seems me and you need to talk, don't we?"

The boy nodded. "As it seems we really do."

His calm and collected voice and straight face made her chuckle. "Trapped in this tiny body... Cute." She started pinching his cheeks until they were completely red but he endured it heroically.

She picked up the little girl and with both kids in her hands just left the building, but turned her head to look up. She could see two people staring at them and coldly smiled at them.

"I will be back. Hehehehe."

The boy just poked her head. "No. They are not worthy. They will die anyway, you have other things to do. Let's meet the mother."

She blinked at him completely shocked and walked dazedly towards their building. What the hell is this situation? Is there something mom really didn't tell her about?

As she got into the elevator the boy could see her expression and just sighed. "I'll explain when we are upstairs, OK?"

Not knowing what is actually going on, she just stared at his eyes and had a strange feeling of urgency. Faster... I must know...

As the door opened, her mother looked at the child and rubbed her head. "Oh, boy. Why are you in this form? What happened?"

Anne just put the two kids down and had a long, questioning stare at her. "Mother?"

Jenny chuckled and avoided her eyes picking up the girl while just glancing at the boy. "You have two feet, do not even dare to use again my daughter, or I will break them and then throw you in mid of a Zombie raid."

Now, this was interesting. Her mother loved children, but how she reacted to him was a strange thing. This story better be good...

"Nice place, you did well since we met last time, Amek." The child stared at Jenny with a big smile.

"Kolah, tell me what happened?" Jenny slowly put down the little girl and turned her head towards the boy.

"The cursed one is on crusade. Luckily he is not aware of daywalkers. Tell me about sister, is she still vegan?" He turned his eyes towards Anne that dazedly stared at the two, turning her head left and right. He realized something. "You never told her?"

Jenny patted the girls head and shrugged. "I wanted to give her a normal life. Or at least seemingly normal life. What happened with the woman and child?"

The boy calmly looked at the girl and patted her head. "It's your granddaughter. The woman was a commoner. I had to erase her memories of me and turn myself into a child as I got into trouble."

Jenny stood up and just literally hit his head making him dizzy but waking up Anne from a daze. She stared at the two people with big eyes and chuckled.

"Let me get things straight. This is my younger, no in this case older brother. You are not human, so neither am I and this all is probably some creepy dream that I am in and I'll wake up in a bit."

Suddenly the darkness enveloped her and she opened her eyes to see her mom sleeping on the chaise longe right across her and smacking her lips as her stomach grumbled.

She was also on one sleeping and just remembered that they were both sleepy and tired when they came back home and fell asleep while they chatted.

Sometimes dreams are dreams and predictions are predictions. She slowly stood up and went to the kitchen to prepare food, not seeing her mother opening her silvery eyes and sighing.

"Will you accept your fate easier if I let you have such a dream, my pure-blooded special child." Her face was wane so she closed her eyes to rest time for real...
