With a big smile Anne stared at the food disappearing into the hungry belly of the strangest person she ever met in her life.
Strangely, he almost naturally sat right beside Anne, even tho the table was big enough that he could choose any other place. What's more wondering was Anne's calmness.
Usually, she literally hated people getting too near, but here she sat calmly and even spoke to him without a problem. But Jenny had to roll her eyes, these two people were so sarcastic that she had to just shut up and not comment anything.
"You are quite an eater..." Anne stared at the mountain of meat standing in front of him.
"You are quite... herbivore." With despise, he stared at a bunch of nicely plated vegetables in front of her. "Do you plan to eat it or just stare at it?''
Anne slowly arranged the vegetables on her plate, added this and that and then smiled brightly. "Perfect."
Even he had to admit that her plate looked quite nice, but it still that didn't mean he would eat it. "Pretty..." Instead of having a proper meaning that word became obnoxiously meaningful as the opposite.
Anne just snorted and stared at the meat in his plate with a disgusted expression. "Cannibal."
"Oh, interesting." He just shrugged, as he ironically answered making Anne give him a long stare.
He ignored her completely as he almost attacked the food in front of him. A growl resounded from his belly making Anne chuckle and stare at the decreasing amount of food.
"Will that be enough?" She glanced at the food and then at her mom.
"I did buy a bunch of meat as I love it, but if he is to stay by our side, I guess we must go and gather more meat." Actually she had made huge storage in her home, but as the resources will become scarce with time she made the decision to try living more... vegan-y...
Luckily she made enough food. The man sat on his chair and happily patted his stomach.
Anne stood up and pointed at the dirty plates. "Help me wash. Now!"
Her words made him strangely feel like he had to obey, so he just clumsily picked up a bunch of plates and followed her. In the kitchen, she saw him staring at her as he had no idea what do to with it, so she just rolled her eyes.
"First you throw the leftovers from the plate into the garbage can, but in this case, there is no need for it." Her mom fried meat without bones so the plates were completely empty.
"After that, you open this..." She opened the dishwasher and put a plate inside. He curiously stared at the unusual thing but listened carefully. He saw her filling the thing with all the plates, putting a strange thing on the side and then closing it.
The moment it was closed the sound of water could be heard inside and he stared at it in astonishment. "You have rain in the box?"
Anne blinked at him, thinking about his state of mind. Is he really that clueless or he really never see a dishwasher before?
Jenny came in and chuckled evilly inside, as she saw a flabbergasted expression on her daughters face and just calmly looked at him. ''I can't call you 'hey you' so may I know your name?''
He stood up immediately and bowed. ''Please forgive me my rudeness. My name is Fabius Maximus. General of the first order.''
Anne just flipped tables in her mind. Could he have a stranger name? Fabius? Not Fabian or Faby... no, Fabius? Are his parents crazy about Roman Empire past? ''Cool name...'' Her words were so sarcastic that acid seeped out of them and burned holes into his name.
''And what is your precious name?'' His words were ironic as well but saw Jenny's expression and bowed. ''I am sorry. The names are given by parents. I didn't mean to be rude.''
''Her name is Anne Alba Celi and my name is Jennifer Diana Wasett.'' Jenny just bowed lightly and smiled at him.
He furrowed his eyebrows as he stared at the innocently looking woman. Innocent, my a...bc. He couldn't escape her strange eyes and he stared back. ''Very interesting name.''
Jenny shrugged. ''Thank you.''
With a wave of the hand, she went to the main room and stared at the crowd running on the streets. ''I think the situation will get worse if we don't clean them up soon.''
Fabius came to the window and stared at the crowd with a dark expression. ''Why did Gods abandon us?''
''Abandon? They never cared. Humans are full of themselves. Only they would think Gods have nothing better to do than to look at small creatures that they just played with, from time to time. Like you threw away your wooden sword, Gods just abandoned humanity and let them live as they wanted. It was the order...'' Jenny stopped talking and just stared at him. ''No matter what I say, you will not believe me now. I gave up many things to be here. Do not even try to look down on me, understood?''
Anne approached them and saw her mother angrily stare at Fabius and somehow her mood became better. This is something she liked. Her mother's true form. Not the sweet talker form before. ''Maybe we could send him out...''
But Jenny just turned her head around and the coldness that was in her eyes hit Anne. She closed her eyes to calm her emotions and then shook her head. ''No. He can keep our backs safe. I do not wish the same situation to happen again. I am human, after all.''
Jenny just gave him glance while passing and he nodded. It seems she didn't want to talk about it yet. He saw Anne coming closer to the window and stare at the crowd silently.
''Anne. Your mother is different than most people.'' He wanted to see how she would react and realized she misunderstood his words.
''Yes, my mom is exceptional. People like her because she is mostly quite positive, but can be cruel to those that make her angry. Just a kind warning. Come, I will show you the guest room.'' As he followed her, he noticed the strange colour of her hair and sighed. Neither one of these women is simple.
With only one difference. One knew and one was completely oblivious about her own inheritance...
