Chapter 44 - What's this about?

As Jill walked out of the Guild building, Katsuya followed by her side.

As he did so, a man rammed against his shoulder.

Bmp.

'What the hell?'

But when Katsuya looked, he saw that it was a man with a white beard and an eye-patch. He wore a hat and his only eye shined yellow.

The man seemed harmless at a glance but a strange feeling was felt in Katsuya's gut as their eyes met one another. The intense moment ended and the stranger laughed it off, patting Katsuya on the shoulder.

"Hahaha. It would seem my clumsiness struck again. My apologies, young man." He then continued on his original path as if nothing ever happened.

'That was weird. Anyways...I should take Jill home.'

Katsuya turned to face Jill.

"I'll walk you home."

"You don't have too." Jill humbly replied.

"It's fine. I have nothing else to do."

"Well, if you really want to then...I guess you could." Her fingers moved nervously when she spoke and her cheeks looked as if they were turning red.

Katsuya noticed and took a step in front of and got an leaned forward, close to her face. This made Jill feel even more flustered.

"Are you okay? You look red. You're not running a fever, are you?" Katsuya asked.

He placed the back of his hand against her forehead but she quickly pulled away while a sweat trickled down the side of her cheek.

Her jittery hands waved around as she explained that she was fine.

"I-I'm okay. I haven't had a fever in forever. Really."

"Actually? I guess you probably don't have one then."

"Y-Yeah. L-Let's get going." She began walking off very quickly as if she had forgotten Katsuya was with her.

"Hey, wait up." He shouted as he sprinted forward and caught up.

(The Front Door to Jill's house)

"Thanks...for walking me home." she said as she turned to face him.

The sun was setting so her face appeared a bit dark but Katsuya could see a hint of happiness and a smile on her face.

"You don't have to thank me. It's my job to make sure my servants are okay."

"Wow...Is that the only reason?" Jill asked.

"Of course not. We're also good friends. I can't risk a good friend getting hurt."

"I see…"

Hearing him say that made her happy but at the same time it left a bit of emptiness in her chest.

"Well… I better get inside now. Call me tomorrow."

"I'll be sure to." Katsuya replied as Jill made her way inside and vanished from view when the door shut.

'I can feel her emotions because we're connected by the servant pact but it's still hard to read her. But I can feel that she's happy but not at the same time.'

After breathing in the cold winter breeze, he would slip his hands into his pocket as he let out a sigh.

'I better get home. I'm feeling a little tired.'

He turned around and began walking down the street as the sun went further and further away. Eventually it was fully gone and the street lights came on. Dark clouds formed in the sky and soft water droplets fell sprinkled. The rain picked up it's pace and fell even faster and harder. The water began to soak his hair and clothes in only a matter of time. Still, he didn't walk any faster. He kept the same, calm pace.

Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap

'I could run home and get there in an actual second but… I really enjoy the rain. It's the only thing that truly makes me happy nowadays. It's almost like it's-'

His eyes suddenly widened as a dart was seconds away from his eye. It was so sudden. Everything around was as if time slowed when his heart dropped in beat.

'What?!'

['Deflect' has been activated]

Just as the dart was about to spear his eye, he raised his hand and smacked it to the side as blue light followed.

'What's this about?'

That was when out of the corner of his view, he saw three figures step out from the night's gloominess. When he turned, he was in the most confusion. There were three people all in uniforms, two men and a woman who stood in between them. The lady's uniform was different from the rest, hers was white with shiny black boots. She stepped forward while her footsteps gave off a vibe which would let anyone know that she was a force to be reckoned with. Her mouth opened and her voice spoke with a firm and commanding tone.

"Hades Allit, in reaction to you escaping your prison we have been sent after you. Surrender and let us take you back where you belong… or we are to take extreme measures. This is your one and only chance, give up."

Beautiful looks, soft skin, purple hair, red eyes and a white uniform. All of these things matched one description, they all belonged to a familiar and well known person.

Katsuya nearly quivered when he recognized her.

'Harley Vale, a limit Breaker. One that just happens to work in all kinds of business. Everything from being a prison guard to being a soldier. Whoever these people are looking for, it sure isn't me.'

He cleared his throat then began to explain himself.

"Listen, there is obviously a misunderstanding. I am no escaped prisoner. I never even had any issues with the law…."

Harley shot a mean and powerful glare at Katsuya, which made him immediately shut his mouth.

"We know all of your tricks, Hades. You possess an ability to shapeshift your looks into anyone you come into contact with. I know it's you for a fact because before you escaped, I snuck a tracker onto you."

Katsuya's heart nearly dropped into his stomach but he kept a calm and collected face.

'A tracker?!'

Right away, his memory was able to recall a strange man bumping into him early on. He didn't have much to go off of besides his [Sixth Sense] and the timing but, there was one other way Katsuya could be sure.

'After he bumped into me, he patted my shoulder. Could he have put the tracker on me then? No...it can't be.'

On the outside, it looked as if Katsuya had no emotion but his hand slightly shook as he reached the back of his shoulder. The sensation of a small object was felt as he grabbed a hold of it then brought it forward to get a look. In the palm of his hand as a small device with a redlight that blinks every couple of seconds.

Inside his thoughts, he spoke to his strong and truster worther A.I.

'.... I guess I've been framed. So, what should I do now, Sora.'

A reply quickly came through.

'I surprised you actually called on me. It felt like it's been forever. But, to answer your question, the best option would be to surrender and hope they let you have a chance to talk. On the other hand, you could try to fight and escape.'

'But, could I actually win in a fight? I mean, she's a limit breaker, she might get stronger mid-way through.'

'I can't tell exactly how strong they are since they aren't monsters but, I can somewhat feel their energy. Given all of your skills, you have a good chance but, if you plan to fight, don't underestimate any of them. Also, you can summon me if push comes to shove.'

'Thanks, Sora. I'll be sure to call you out if things get rough.'

Suddenly, the white-uniformed guard broke the outside silence.

"So, should I take your silence as a form of resistance?"

Katsuya let out a sigh, right before he matched her intense glare with his own.

"Take it for what you want but I'm telling you, you've got the wrong person. So, I don't plan to put up a fight." Katsuya replied.

"So, ma'm. What are your orders?" One of the other guards asked.

To which Harley Vale replied, "Let's bring him down. I give you permission to use your unique skills."

"Will do."

"Yes Ma'am."

Both of the guards on her sides replied.

Harley's mouth opened once more to issue one last command.

"Attack."
