Chapter 49 - Monsterous Instincts

Katsuya followed Thomas up a large stone staircase, leading to a single metal door, which he pushed open. The blinding sunlight of the morning flashed their eyes.

"Well, this is far as I have to walk you. I'm leaving now." said Thomas in a tired-some voice.

"Thanks for showing me the way." Katsuya thanked him, before turning and starting to walk home.

Pulling out his phone from his pocket, he saw that he had received a message from early this morning.

{Jill: Hey Katsuya, I stopped by your place but you weren't here. Also, you left your door open and I happened to see the mess in your living room. Don't worry, I'll clean it up for you, since we're good friends. P.S I'm very sorry for the intrusion.}

'She came over? Not only that but she cleaned the mess that was made'

His memory recalled himself flipping the couch over and dropping his mug of tea, all due to the surprise of those men breaking in.

'Feels like my life has been just on a problem streak lately'

In the sudden distance, he was able to make out the sounds of aggressive shouts coming from a nearby alleyway.

His head tilted in curiosity.

'Sounds like drama.'

At approaching, he crept his head around the corner. There, 3 men had cornered you-man, who seemed to be around the same age as Katsuya. From the looks of it, the other men were shouting demands in a violent manner.

"Listen boy, just hand over your cash and nobody get's hurt."

"Yeah, if you ain't got cash then just give us ya phone or something worth cash."

"Hurry your ass up already, kid!"

"B-but, I can't give you my phone, I have important stuff on there." The kid replied, having clear fear be shown on his face.

After watching for a sec, it became clear to Katsuya what was going on. The boy was getting mugged. Even so, Katsuya took a sec to think as the men felt familiar for some odd reason.

'These guys, why do I get the feeling I've seen them somewhere before.'

People he's come across before? If so, where had he seen them. A supermarket? School, maybe? No, these men looked like they had graduated long ago.

Still, nothing he thought of rang a bell?

'Well, someone is getting robbed in front of me. I probably shouldn't just be standing here.'

That when one of the men shouted a certain phrase at the boy. A phrase which shook a memory in the mind of Katsuya.

"You got a death wish or somethin?"

Right then, he remembered.

'That's right. I remember these bastards.'

He recalled a time that occurred a number of months back. On his way back home from the first dungeon he attempted, these were the same men robbing a girl in an alleyway.

'These men. The way they act pisses me off. Grown men wondering alleyways and robbing people for a living.'

An instinct in the back of his mind, a monster instinct. The pure instinct of wanting to cause damage. His teeth grinded together in both excitement and anger.

A thought of pleasure froded in his mind.

'Ooh, I'm going to love this.'

Even though he was wearing black-contacts, in that moment, there was no hiding the great purple shine from the true color of his eyes.

KAtsuya took a step forward and firmly called out to the 3 men.

"Hey! You thugs having fun over there?"

One of the men turned around, not recognizing him.

"Yeah! What do you care about? Run off, kid."

"No. I think I'll make you three run off instead."

The man angrily gripped a bat which laid on the floor.

"What did you just say? You little shit. Are you challenging me? I'll bash your damn face in."

The nan turned to one of the other mne, which seemed to be in charge, asking "Man, can I kill this kid?"

"Do whatever the hell you want."

"Aha, bet."

The thug ran forward, lifting the bat and swinging it down towards Katsuya's skull.

Crash.

Shatter.

The bat instantly ripped apart and the bastard's eyes opened in amazement. Before even another second passed, Katsuya grabbed the man's arm and snapped it in half.

Snap.

Crack.

"Aaaghghghhh! Damitttt!!!" The man yelled out in agony.

Katsuya pressed the bottom of his foot against the man's chest, shoving him to the floor. He remembered to hold back his strength. If he didn't, the man's whole body would have easily been blown apart.

As the thug laid on the floor, continuing to cry out in pain, his two partners turned around to face KAtsuya.

"You dumbass kid. I'ma kill ya now."

"Oh, you think you can mess with us? It's on!"

They both sprinted forward, each holding a pocket knife.

Fwhs. Bwhs Bwsh.

Katsuya shoved both of them in the chest, with enough force to throw them across the floor.

Thump. Thump.

Though, Katsuya purposely only used less than 1% of his full strength. But two the men, it felt as if a large man had punched thum full-force.

With a dark look in his eyes, Katsuya looked at the floor, where the three men laid. One was crying in pain over his broken arm, another one was unconscious. The last one, was slowly getting back up. Instead of trying to fight, it seemed as if the last man was scared, trying to slowly back away.

"W-what.. the fuck are you?" His voice shook as he asked.

"You're about to find out." Katsuya replied.

Fwsh.

In less then a second, he slid over to the man's side and delivered a kick to the man's legs, causing them to break.

Crack. Snap.

Thump.

His body fell over and his mouth shouted in the purest of pain.

"Fuuuuccckkkk!!!! What….the FUUUUCCCCKKKK!!! AAAAGGGGHHHhhh! Damnnnn!!!!"

Still, causing only this amount of pain didn't satisfy Katsuya. His instincts wanted more. More agony. More damage.

He stood over the man and leaned over, firmly grabbing the side of his head.

Flick. Flick. Flick. Flick.

Katsuya repeatedly flicked the man's forehead but no amount of flicks brought satisfaction. So, he continued.

Flick...Flick...Flick...Flick...Flick

With each one, Katsuya felt his mind becoming blank and the only thing he was starting to think about was bringing pain.

'More. more...more...more...more….'

The constant thought of holding back to avoid killing anyone then escaped Katsuya's mind as he charged up his next flick, greater than any of the previous ones.

A girl's voice within his head shouted, breaking his concentration.

"Don't!" The voice of Sora.

That split-second, he came back to his senses but he was already mid-flick. Meaning, the attack was sure to hit and kill the man. With every muscle in his shoulder, he threw his arm to the side as the flick finished.

Flick. Fwsh.

Booom!! A loud boom echoed around the neighborhood. Even Jill, who was sitting on her balcony heard it.

Luckly, Katsuya managed to redirect his flick just in time to miss the man and the only thing damaged was the wall to the alleyway which was completely shattering and falling apart.

Craaaacccckkkk.

Almost 24-inches of thickness was completely shattered. Not in just on place but all across where the wall lead two was destroyed.

Within Katsuya's head, Sora's voice started shouting at him.

"What's wrong with you??!!! You were about to murder him! And your little flick made a noise loud enough for all the people of the neighborhood to think it was an explosion. You probably shouldn't keep sticking around. Get home."

'Yeah, good idea.' Katsuya replied.

Before he left, he saw the guy who was previously getting mugged, sitting against the other wall of the alleyway. It was written all over his face, he was scared and had no clue what he witnessed.

"Well, at least you didn't get robbed, right?" Said Katsuya, before turning around and walking off.

'That probably wasn't the appropriate thing to say' Katsuya thought.

'No, it really wasn't' Sora replied in thought.
