Chapter 22 - The Man With Pale Skin

(Central square, Team 1)

The S-ranker that led the three A-rankers was a man with long black hair and blue-colored eyes. His teeth were as sharp as knives and he wore a red jacket and black pants. His name was Myles.

He walked through an alleyway while the rest of the team followed.

The A-ranker that stood in the back was a young man named John, he was the team's mage. His specialty was sensing where enemies were by following their energy.

"We're getting closer. I can sense high amounts of evil energy up ahead. I'm sure it's coming from the killer." said John.

"Looks like we'll be running into this bastard sooner than expected. Everyone, be ready to fight." said Myles.

A blood curdling scream came from up ahead. Because of the sudden sighting of the killer, there wasn't enough time to evacuate the people the lived in the area so, as a result, the killer had already killed some.

"Everyone, pick up the pace. We have to follow the scream!" Myles shouted.

Him and everyone behind started sprinting at top speed. The wind would gently swoosh with each step they took.

Myles found the situation to be rather unfortunate, because of the time it took for them to arrive inside the barrier, he was sure that many people had already been slaughtered. Because of his 'Life' skill, he was able to feel death in the air. As they reached the end of the alleyway, a man ran by, tripping over a rock.

Thump!

Myles and the others stopped as the man was clearly in a state of fear.

He quickly regained his balance and noticed Myles and the rest of the group.

"Are you guys adventurers?! Thank god you're here...something really bad happened. I think he's after me.."

Myles placed his hand on the man's shoulder, speaking in a calming voice.

"Easy now, just take deep breaths. Now, start explaining what happened, step by step."

Instead of getting calmer, the man looked as if he had just gotten even more terrified,

"T-there's not enough time! I think he followed me! I know he's catching up!"

The wind shook as a knife launched through the air, cutting the man's head clean off. Everyone's eyes widened in shock.

Chink.

The knife stuck directly into the wall of the alleyway as the man's body fell to the floor.

"It's close!" John shouted.

"You don't say." Myles replied.

Timp... Timp... Timp... Timp.

The sound of a pair of boots walking came closer and closer, until a chilling voice spoke.

"So, the strong humans finally decided to show up. How exciting."

About ten feet in front of them was a tall pale skinned man. His hair was long and white, his eyes were glowing yellow. He wore a long shadow black coat.

Myles held a walkie talkie up to his mouth and glared at the pale-skinned man.

"Shadow, we located the killer. It looks human, but I feel that it's not."

The pale man wore a giant wicked smile across his face as he replied.

"That's right, I'm not human. What gave it away?"

Myles quickly pulled out two red-bladed daggers and gripped them tightly.

"I was able to tell by the way you referred to us as humans. Also, no human is that damn pale. You ready to die, bastard?"

"Bastard? Just call be Vamp." said the Pale-skinned man.

"I don't care about your name." Myles replied.

A flashing red light followed his daggers as he swung them into the ground, shouting.

"Earth Prison!"

The cement cracked and began moving until it formed around the pale-skinned man, covering him completely.

"Now's the time to attack!" Myles said out loud.

Two of the men ran forward and smashed their fists against the cement that covered their enemy. Then, they moved to the side as Myles dashed forward; with incredible force, he stabbed his two daggers straight ahead. The cement that covered Vamp had shattered and he spit up blood.

As Myles yanked his dagger from the pale man's chest, he took a couple steps back. What came next was a bloodlust smile off of the man's face.

"You should've put everything you had into that attack. If you did, you could have defeated me."

"How about you shut-up. You talk like you're actually going to win." said Myles.

The man's eyes started to glow yellow and his stare gave off an intimidating energy. His sharp fangs were the only thing the team of adventurers could think about.

"Everyone! Attack before he has a chance to move!" Myles shouted with haste.

"We're on it!" the Two A-rankers replied.

The two men rushed forward and swung their fists in patterns.

The pale man gracefully moved side to side, easily dodging every strike.

"How foolish, let me end your pointless existence now."

Swoosh.

In an instant, there were two large holes in both the men's chests.

Their eyes opened wide in fear, as they fell to the ground.

Thump. Thump.

(Ancient Vampire: Hp: 29,436/ 58,890)

A pale-white hand reached out to grab Myles face.

"Dash!" He jumped back, barely dodging.

"You're a fast one. Your power will be useful once I harvest it." said the pale skinned man.

Myles was at a disadvantage. His opponent's speed was extremely fast and there was no way for Myles to keep up in close range. The wounds his daggers had caused to Vamp were already completely healed.

Two of the A-ranker that were on his team were easily killed by Vamp.

The only ones left was John, an A-ranker and Myles, an S-ranker.

Vamp let out a sigh and held is arms out to the side,

"Oh, come on. Did you two lose the will to fight already?"

"Of course we didn't. We're not going to stop until you're dead." Myles replied.

While wearing an extreme look on his face, John spoke.

"Myles, move to the side. I'm going to cast a powerful electric spell."

Slowly moving, Myles stepped to the side.

"Make sure you don't miss."

"Don't worry, I won't," John replied.

Roughly, Vamp stomped his foot on the floor and bent over in laughter.

"Ha...You say you won't miss? I bet you anything that you will."

With rage, John held out his palm and shouted.

"I won't!"

"Well then! Let's see who's right!" Vamp replied.

Streaks of lighting began flowing from John's hand, creating one ball of electricity. The sound of static was deafening and the light was almost heavenly.

"This will end you, monster!"

At a supersonic speed, the ball of electricity shot through the air, booming.

Vamp showed a horrific grin and his yellow eyes glowed even greater than before. As the ball got closer and closer, he murmured a phrase.

"Deflect."

A red stream of light followed the movement of his hands as he turned the electric ball around. Instead of hitting Vamp, it now shot towards John and Myles.

As it came closer and closer, the two adventurers saw the end. It was the scariest thing they had ever seen. The fear would shoot chills down their spines. What they saw was "Death"

Boom!

A blinding explosion instantly killed both John and Myles. The entire alleyway was ripped apart and ruble shot into the air. Dust covered the area around.

Timp...Timp...Timp…

The only sign of life came from Vamp, slowly walking forward.

He stopped and looked down at the adventurers' crisp and burnt bodies.

His tongue licked his lips right before a wicked smile appeared onto his face.

"Now, I can harvest their power."

(Central square, Team 2)

The S-ranker that led this team of adventurers was a tall man with brown hair and beard. He had black-colored pupils and wore a black tank top.

His name was Benjamin.

Just moments ago, Shadow, the government agent, had notified him that team 1 was in combat with the killer. Shadow had told them to search for the other team as they had gone silent.

"They must be in some deep shit if they haven't responded. I know Myles, he is not one to stay quiet." said Benjamin.

"Do you think they're...you know, dead?" asked one of the A-rankers.

He was a 23 year-old man named 'Jacob'.

"I don't know. It's hard to say considering he doesn't know this killer's exact strength."

A familiar voice yelled out from somewhere nearby "Damn! We need back-up!"

"Shit, is that Myles?" Benjamin thought to himself.

He began sprinting forward as the rest of his team followed.

"Will we make it to them in time?" Jacob asked.

"Of course we will, it sounds like they're just around the corner." Benjamin replied.

Just as the team ran past one of the houses, Jacob let out a painful scream and fell to his knees.

"Ah! What...the hell!"

Everyone turned to look at him. His entire left arm was missing as blood spilled out into a puddle on the floor. Standing behind him was a tall pale-skinned man with glowing yellow eyes. It was the killer 'Vamp'.

He placed his large cold hand onto the top of Jacob's head.

"That's enough yelling from you."

While wearing a wicked smile, he squeezed his head tightly until….it popped. The sound of Jacobs skull being crushed was heard and red brain matter flew out.

Crack. Splat.

Benjamin let out a yell of pure rage, a feeling he hadn't felt in a very long time.

"You son of a bitch! You'll pay for that!"

He took one step forward but instantly fell to the floor.

Thump.

There was a pulsing pain in his leg and he felt a warm liquid spilling out.

"What...just happened."

Benjamin looked back and saw a sight that he wished wasn't reality. Everything below his left knee was missing and blood was quickly spilling out. Instantly, there were two quick thumping sounds followed by the screams of the other two A-rankers.

Benjamin's eyes widened when he saw his entire team without heads. He was no stranger to gore and violence but, his team members were all close friends of his. Seeing them without life was devastating and made him want to throw up.

Slow walking footsteps were coming closer and closer to him.

Timp...Timp...Timp…

Benjamin lifted his head and stared directly into the pale man's eyes.

"So...You're the killer aren't you?"

"Yes, I am. I'm the killer."

Vamp, the killer kneeled down and grabbed Benjamin's chin and continued talking.

"You look like you have something to say. What is it?"

".....You may have bested me and the other team but, once the higher rankers show up, they'll crush you."

Vamp closed his eyes and gently shook his head side to side as he clicked his tongue. When his yellow eyes reopened, they would glow brighter than anything Benjamin had ever laid eyes on. Except, the glow wasn't anything holy, it gave off a wicked vibe.

Vamp stood back up and looked up at the sky as he rubbed his hands down his face.

"Aha! I'm afraid you're wrong. It's them that will be crushed by me. I am a threat that will continue to grow. It will be the greatest problem this world ever faces. A threat above the rank of what you humans would call Legendary."

Benjamin let his forehead fall, hitting the floor. He began laughing with the little strength he had left.

"My ass, you don't have what it takes to defeat someone above the rank of silver, let alone the rank of Legendary."

Vamp looked down at him with a dark look and replied.

"Well, You can watch what I'm capable of from the afterlife. Goodbye."

He held out his hand and aimed his palm towards Benjamin's face.

A giant hot blast of fire shot out and turned Benjamin and the area behind to ash.

Boom!

The scene looked as if it was from the depths of hell.

Vamp just realized his mistake and smacked himself across the face, in anger.

"Damn, damn, damn, damn damn. How am I supposed to harvest their power if there is nothing but ash!? I should've thought this through. Oh well, I'll just have to find some more prey."

Shadow stood right outside of the barrier, only to be shaken by the sight of an explosion coming within. He lifted his walkie-talkie up to his mouth and started speaking into it.

"Team two, what is going on in there?"

There was no response from the other end. Instead, it was only static.

He then repeated himself one more time, hoping that they would answer.

"Team two, are you there?"

Again, no response only came from the other end.

"This isn't good news. The only reason they wouldn't respond would be if they were wiped out. One killer being able to take on two teams, that's no ordinary situation. I'll have to contact the higher authorities."

He turned around and pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

A woman answered.

"Hello?"

"It's me, the agent that was sent out to the killer situation. Both teams may have been wiped out. This may have just become a Silver-rank situation."

"W-what? Are you sure it's that high of a threat?"

"I'm completely sure of it. No way two S-rankers and six A-ranker were wiped out by only an S-rank threat. This killer must have a high amount of power. Even standing outside the barrier, I can feel something dangerous nearby."
