Chapter 24 - Blackout

Note: This chapter will be from Katsuya's perspective.

That was when I realized my mistake. The 'Double Speed' that was allowing me to keep up with his speed had worn off. Though, I would still be able to keep up just a little because of the martial arts I had learned and my 'Fast Tracking' skill.

[Warning: Opponent's 'Limit break' skill was activated x2]

The vampire rushed at me, faster than I could see. I was struck in the face then struck in the stomach.

{Hp: 216,412/342,746}

It didn't hurt much but if this kept up, he would eventually drain my life completely. He held his fist back, charging his next attack.

[Warning: Opponent has activated 'Attack Triple']

I could just feel it, even before it hit. The energy emitting from his fist was deadly, if that were to hit me, I would barely cling onto my consciousness.

He swung his fist towards my face, it was too fast. I was just going to wait for it for him but, my pride wouldn't let me give up that easily.

Hell, I promised myself that any monster I come across would be slaughtered. Right before it hit me, I reached my hand out and grabbed his knuckles.

I was able to feel the impact, it was like I had stopped a train with my bare hands. The look on the vampire's face was a shocked one. I didn't waste a second, I slammed my palm into the middle of his face.

Before he could recover, I swung the knee towards his chest but…

[Warning: Opponents's 'Limit Break' skill was activated x4]

He was instantly behind me, out of my attack's way.

I felt multiple blows hit me from my back all the way to my chest. My body was in tremendous amounts of pain as I fell to my knees. I was able to tell, he could have killed me right then and there but, he was copying what I had done before.

{Hp: 53,762/342,746}

"There, I repaid the favor and didn't kill you right away. So come on, entertain me some more. Show me your fighting spirit." said Vamp.

I wasn't just about to give up, I had to slaughter him. Standing back up on my feet, I sprinted toward him and kicked at him. My leg hit nothing but the air and again, I was struck in the chest. I laid on my back, in pain. Can't stay down, I had to keep fighting. Standing back up once more, I ran at him and swung my fist through the air. He was instantly behind me and stuck my back.

{Hp: 22,124/342,746}

It felt like nothing else could be done. That vampire was too fast for any of my attacks to hit him and he was just too strong. Why didn't he just finish me off? He could kill me in a single strike if he wanted too.

Pain filled my body as I was on my knees, just barely holding myself up off of the ground.

Right when I was gathering the last of my strength to stand up, I was kicked in the side of the head. Roughly, I fell to the floor.

{Hp: 9,872/342,746}

I just lay there, on my chest. The floor was hard and I could feel the little rocks under me. For sure, some of my bones were already broken. A throbbing pain filled my joints everytime I even thought about moving.

I could see the government agent, Shadow, trying to get up.

He was angry at the enemy. I could see how much pain he was in. His legs were wobbling with every step he took towards the vampire.

When he got close enough, he used every last bit of his strength to yell.

"You damn bastard!"

Shadow tightly squeezed his fist and swung it at Vamp. The attack only hit the air. With a sudden movement, the vampire kicked Shadow's chest, knocking him on the ground.

I watched his Hp lower as he laid motionless on the ground.

{Allie: Hp: 5,231/771,924}

Vamp began slowly pacing around, talking to both of us who laid on the ground.

"Weak, weak, weak. You were supposed to be the strong humans. Your other friends had so much faith in you guys before I killed them."

Shadow started using all of his energy just to lift his head and look our enemy in the eyes.

"You….You won't stand a chance once the Legendary-ranker I requested...shows up."

After he finished his sentence, his head fell back on the floor as a gust of wind left his mouth. It sounded like he was blowing fog onto a window.

Again, I started to try and stand up while each of my joints popped and cracked. I was hurting too much so I stopped, holding myself up on one knee.

The vampire looked at me and began walking my way as he spoke.

"Well, I guess I can't expect nothing else from you guys. I'll be ending your lives now."

He approached me and the darkness that covered him sent chills down my spine as I could see the moon glowing behind his. His claws lifted into the air then..

Swip.

...swung down towards me.

I closed my eyes, waiting to be torn apart by his knife sharp claws but nothing happened. My eyes opened to see what had happened.

His hand was stopped in mid-air and a smooth hand had a hold of his wrist.

My eyes followed the hand all the way up the arm until I saw who had stopped him. It was a woman with snow-white hair, her skin was smooth and I could just feel the energy flowing from her as she squeezed the vampires wrist with all her might. I could recognize her features from anywhere, I knew exactly who she was.

Her name was 'Amaya' and she was among the strongest adventurers in both the Alternate world and this world.

She loses her grip and the vampire pulls away, jumping back quite a distance. As far as I could tell, he was a bit frightened as a drop of sweat ran down the side of his face.

"Y-You are extremely strong. Beyond what I've ever seen. You can't be human." said Vamp.

"But, I am human." Amaya replied.

Her response was met with angered shouting.

"Lies! There's no way a human can give off such intense energy! I'll expose you!"

[Warning: Opponent's 'Limit Break' skill has activated x5]

The vampire was instantly in front of her and began rapidly swinging his fists. It looked like a storm of punches and there were blue flashes of light.

There was no end to his intense attacks, he had no intention of stopping. Because of his speed combined with his strength, there was already a cloud of dust covering every inch of the area and even covering the white haired girl entirely.

The attacks began to slowly die down until stopping completely.

The vampire was breathing heavily and he stood there, confident of his victory.

"Hah...hah...aha. There's no way you escaped that unarmed. That was five-hundred punches every second."

The dust began to blow away and clear, I was sure that even Amaya was injured by his attacks. I was wrong, there she was, standing, unharmed.

Shadow was injured to the point he didn't want to move but he had lifted his head in time to see Amaya standing without injuries.

The Vampire eyes lit up with pure surprise.

"What?! How are you unharmed?!"

Amaya tilted her head in confusion, she was puzzled.

"What do you mean? None of your attacks landed,I just dodged them all."

"You did What?!! Well, if that won't work, I'll just have to give this next attack everything I got."

Vamp's body began shaking with rage as he shot forward, moving his claws at her. It was over as fast as it had started; Amaya gracefully smashed her palm into his chest, ripping him apart. His blood launched into the air then began raining down on us.

I could not believe my eyes, she had handled this whole situation with almost no effort. I turned my head, only to see Shadow regaining his balance while walking over to the girl with white hair.

"You made it...just in time." said Shadow.

Amaya's eyes looked at all of the soldiers lifeless bodies and I could see the look of regret on her face.

"I'm... sorry that I couldn't make it in time to save the rest of your team."

"Even if you keep beating yourself up about not getting here fast enough,the past won't change. Focus on what you can do right now."

Shadow pointed over to me as he continued talking.

"That kid, he put up a hell of a fight. He sustained injuries worse than mine."

"I'll see what I could do." she replied.

Amaya started walking over to me, I was able to hear her boots echoing. It sounded like I was inside a cave. She kneeled down and lifted my head.

My eyesight was beginning to get blurrier by the second but, I saw her eyes meet with mine.

"I'm just going to scan your injuries." She said.

Her eyes shined as bright and my body began to feel numb.

[Allie has activated 'Analyze']

The look on her face showed that she was concerned.

Out of nowhere, my body gave up and my head fell back to the floor. My eyesight turned completely black and all the sound behind me began to slowly fade away.

Before the sound disappeared completely, I heard Amaya say something.

"Oh no, this isn't good."

And all sound vanished and I lost consciousness.
