Chapter 1 - The Day It All Began

(Side Note: This story originates from my other novel @Amaya In Another World)

2020 was the year it all began. Monsters, creatures we thought never existed began appearing.

At first It started with small sightings.

2020 February 16th, was when the first world shaking event happened.

A large cave appeared by a mountain monument. It gave off extreme amounts of electrical energy. The government sent in a large squad that were equipped with weapons. They secured the area and began investigating. What they found when they entered the cave was breathtaking. It was a pair of two giant golden doors. They notified the president about it and were told to further investigate.

It took the strength of a semi to open the doors. Behind the doors was a giant darkroom. As the squad walked in, the room suddenly lit up from a blue crystal at the top of the cave. Standing at the end of the room was a giant creature. One with great red eyes and shiny scales all over. It had great big wings on it's back. Immediately, the squad saw it as a threat and began shooting. The creature quickly wiped them out and escaped the cave.

Almost a day later, a city was attacked by the same creature. Buildings were in ruins and fire was everywhere. The national guard was sent in and began combating the creature. They were not enough to stop it as they were slaughtered left and right. It took about half a day for the military to arrive. There were helicopters, tanks and even soldiers firing all their artillery at it. After hours of hard fighting, the creature was killed. It was just barely enough to take it down. Ever since this incident, people began seeing things in the corner of their view. Not ghosts, but words and phrases. Before I knew it, everyone had these strange words and phrases around in their view. Once ordinary people were suddenly able to use magic and some even got special abilities. Some abilities allowed some kind of A.I to appear inside your thoughts and be able to talk to you. Sometimes A.I's would give you quests and as prize for completing them you gain Exp or sometimes be able to upgrade one of your stats. These extraterrestrial A.I's went by the name of 'Systems' and some even allowed you to give them a name.

Everyone had a set of stats that belong to them, telling you what your strength was or speed is.

(Example: Level:1 Hp: 10 Intelligence: 115 Mp:12 Atk:4 Speed: 8 Endurance:24 Exp:0/100)

Of course just like before, these things could be increased with training.

At first it would help, but in the long run training wasn't very useful.

Everyone had a different max level, meaning that everyone had a different limit of how far their strength could go. The majority of people had level 1 one as their max level. These people were referred to as 'Norms'

People who had reached their max level but were somehow able to keep leveling up were called 'Levelers'.

Other names for these types of people were things like "Limit Breakers" and 'Players"

Caves would begin to appear in random places and some of them would sometimes lead into an underground lair.

These were called 'Dungeons'.

In each dungeon were monsters and dangerous creatures.

Each dungeon had one special room, one that held a monster deadlier than the rest in the place.

These creatures were called 'Bosses'.

After a boss has been defeated, the dungeon would begin disappearing at a random pace.

About 5 years later, life began moving normally as if monsters always existed. High ranking government officials began creating guilds for people that would go into dungeons and clear them.

These types of people were called 'Adventurers'.

In each guild, there were ranks. The rank you would be put in depended on your overall, which is the total of when all your stats numbers are combined.

(Example: Hp: 12 Intelligence: 150 Mp: 7 Atk: 4 Speed: 11

Endurance: 17 Overall=201)

And each rank above d-rank had an overall requirement.

(Ranking power scale: D-rank: Overall= 500 or lower.

C-rank: Overall= 1,000 or higher.

B-rank: Overall= 2,500 or higher.

A-rank: Overall=5,000 or higher.

S-rank: Overall= 25,000 or higher.

Silver: Overall= 100,000 or higher.

Gold: Overall= 450,000 or higher.

Platinum: Overall= 850,000.)

I was a skinny black haired boy.

Katsuya Masazumi is my name and I was a 'Norm'.

(Level: 1 Hp:14 Intelligence:117 Mp:13 Atk:2 Speed: 14 Endurance: 22)
