Chapter 8 - The Blue Flower

Alex was now inside of his little hut slightly away from the village and taking a look at his class specifics and seeing how and what he could use now. His skills were very few as of now and he was not really sure how he could utilize them or activate them.

-----------------------------------------------

Skills:

Infect- Player can infect the corpse of a human and raise it back to a pre-decomposed state and in some cases the bodies original soul may come back to inhabit the body (1% chance)

Amount of controllable infected: 1

Cost: 100 mana or some sort of equivalent power to complete the process

Control- Can control any infected to do limited movements or act a certain way for a certain amount of time

Shared Vision- Can share the vision with any of the player's infected individuals as long as the player wishes to

-----------------------------------------------

The skill would limit Alex in infecting dead targets so Alex would have to find something dead. Now the easiest option would be infecting the body of someone dead in the village but Alex did not want to do that to the people here as it would be creepy for him and disrespectful to them. So the next option would be an animal.

He could go with the Great Ganjalo beast's but they were not really that useful to him to infect their corpse. So Alex would have to search around the forest to find the corpse of an animal or if need be he could just kill something and then infect it since he had a fair amount of confidence when dealing with just animals. So with that Alex closes his system interface and leaves his hut to find Sheila.

Sheila was actually at the training field that Alex had been going to a bit to get stronger and understand how to fight. Sheila was the strongest person in the village when she got serious she could deal with anyone and anything that she fought against. Alex knew this because he still had bruises and cuts from their sessions which were a slightly painful reminder.

Sheila also trained the able-bodied villagers with hand to hand combat, basic primitive tactics, and techniques that they had made over the years. They were effective for this sort of planet as this place had not advanced far enough in the terms of science or magic, but if this place were to suddenly be invaded by any higher level civilization, then they would be eradicated easily. That was the simple truth as this planet was in its infant stages of development it would pose no threat to any higher civilization.

Those higher civilizations had more advanced weaponry and tactics that could wipe off all life on the planet. Heck, even gunpowder weapons would be able to cause massive havoc and destruction if it were used on the lifeforms of this planet. That is not including the various bombs and other weapons of mass destruction that can literally eradicate a planet within seconds if used. Thankfully there are galactic laws and the council who enforce them who make sure that certain boundaries are not overstepped by anyone regardless of what position they may hold in the universe.

Alex shudders at the thought of an intergalactic invasion on this planet since this place could not put up a fight if some group decided to have some fun with the locals.

Putting those thoughts aside Alex gets drawn back to seeing Sheila beat everyone on the training field with ease. There was one person who was able to stay standing the longest through tanking hits and strikes from Sheila's strikes but eventually, he also fell to the ground with a thud and groan from all the bruises that were showing on his body.

Seeing everyone is down Sheila tells everyone that they get a five-minute break before starting again to which the groans of the people are heard as they drag their beaten bodies over to the resting area where there are some water and shade to relax in for a bit. Seeing the opportunity that Alex needed he approaches Sheila who was still standing in the middle of the training field and doing some light exercises to start at her current heightened state.

"Hey, Sheila," Alex calls out

Shelia stops her exercises and turns to him.

"Alex, what can I do for you?" She asks

"I was wondering what the most powerful beast there is near here," Alex asks getting straight to the point

Shelia frowns at Alex's question.

"Why do you want to know that?"

"I was thinking about going into the forest for a bit of a walk and I want to avoid anything I can't handle but since I don't really know what the most powerful beast is in the forest I thought I should ask you before anything," Alex says

Hearing his response Shelia's expression softens as her face goes back to normal.

"The strongest beast in the forest would be the Promethean Tiger," She says

"Hm... Promethean Tiger... what is that exactly?"

"It is a massive beast that is difficult to kill even for me at my peak condition, you will know when you see it so I advise you to be careful if you go further into the forest as they live there in their own territory," She responds in a serious tone

"Don't worry I will be careful about it," Alex responds as he nods his head and goes over to the training weapons

Of all the stone age weaponry that Alex had used the only one that he felt was useful was the stone dagger, so he takes that and a club on his trip to the forest as he had to be careful regardless of what he thinks about this place being weak in the standards of the universe. He could still die from beasts if he was not careful enough so he places the dagger in his belt and his club will go into his inventory when he is actually in the forest.

Alex walks around the edge of the forest making sure that he is stealthy and avoiding any sort of animals or beasts that look extremely tough to fight as he moves around the outer edge. Moving around Alex finds plenty of animals as well as a few dead one, but even then they are not intact or fresh corpses. Alex leaves them be since he wants something to infect that he can pass off as a pet or something if possible since he wants to keep his abilities hidden for now.

As Alex is walking through the outer edge he eventually ends up at sudden small clearing where there was a single blue flower blooming. Alex was strangely attracted to this seemingly normal flower but before he can get close enough to identify it with his system his vision is suddenly filled with black and he is flung backwards like a broken kite out of the clearing and slams straight into the trunk of a tree.

"Augh!" Alex cries out in pain as he feels like something is broken in his body

As Alex is writhing in pain all of a sudden his health shows up in front of him.

Health: 2/25

Alex's face pales at how close to death he was right now that he quickly looks around at what exactly attacked him. Alex sees nothing in the clearing just the blue flower that was just staying there as if to taunt him to come and pick it.

Alex was in incredible pain right now that he could barely move that he kind of accepted his death to whatever it is that had just attacked him but after waiting a bit Alex sees that there is nothing indicating that whatever attacked him was going to do so again. Seeing that he was being left alone Alex gets an idea and opens up his inventory before bringing out the exp donuts that he had left over.

Without thinking about it to much he starts eating them to increase his exp and level up a few times if possible from the remaining donuts.

Eleven donuts later Alex feels slightly sick from eating those small powdery circles of sugry goodness that his stomach was grumbling in slight pain. In total Alex had gained 978 experience points in total from stuffing his face with a bunch of donuts.

Still even through that all Alex was only able to level up twice through his efforts. Seeing the results of his level up affecting different stats that he had made him frown slightly as he thought that his stats would only increase by one everytime.

'Is it because I have a class now?' Alex thinks as this is the only thing that could have caused this as he never got anything that could affect him

Still Alex checks his stats to see if him eating his donuts and increase in stats did what he was testing out.

'Yes' Alex thinks seeing that his health has now increased

Alex was still alive but at least now he was not extremely close to death like when he was first hit by whatever it was that attacked him in the clearing. Still Alex does not see anything so he is just confused at what exactly it was that attacked him.

Seeing that Alex decides to run a quick test to see if he could lure out whatever it is that attacked him. So Alex hides behind a tree while he takes a stone and throws it into the clearing to see if their is any sort of reaction from anything. Nothing.

'Well what was I expecting' Alex thinks to himself as he did not really think that there would have been any sort of reaction from a rock

So Alex leaves the clearing before marking it mentally and walking away to find an animal that he could throw in their to see what was there in the clearing guarding that blue flower. If their was a beast guarding a single flower then it must be extremely special and useful so Alex of course wanted it.

If the flower was useless then Alex would at least be able to gain some experience from the beast guarding the flower so it would be a win win for him at the very least as he was staying positive with everything now. Alex caught a slow rabbit nearby and brought it over to the clearing. One thing that Alex noticed though was that the rabbit which he was nw holding by the ears in his grasp which was supposed to be docile started struggling to break free to the point where it even attempted to bite Alex just to free itself.

Seeing the little thing acting this way Alex was a little scared because the normally docile creature had just turned mad from fear at getting closer to the clearing so Alex acts with caution as he approaches the area.

Alex was now hiding behind another tree this time with the rabbit in grasp as a sort of sacrifice to throw into the clearing. It was still struggling to break free from Alex's grasp with the same vigor as before as there was something scaring it greatly. So Alex without further ado throws out the rabbit into the clearing to see what he is dealing with to get that flower.

The rabbit flies through the air and lands near the flower on the ground but it just lies there still as if dead in fright. Alex waits patently for anything to happen but even after a few seconds nothing happens that he takes another rock which he throws in the area rabbit so that he could startle it to get moving. now he is unsure if it was just pure luck or skill but he domed the rabbit in the head with the rock causing it to jump up and scamper away out of the clearing and away from the flower.

Then out of nowhere before the rabbit was even a step away from the flower the beast appeared.
