Chapter 2 - C1: The Piano Player

Paris's Point Of View:

"My queen, an invitation arrived for you," I heard a butler say as he bowed to my mother, handing her an envelope sealed with red wax. "It's from King Dracula and Queen Marry." He stood by then as he watched my mother. "It was sent with the message that they would like it very much that the prince of France accompanies the two of you." He gestured to my mother and me. My mother looked the envelope over before grabbing a knife off her desk and cut it open. She pulled out the slip of paper and opened it- beginning to read. I walked up to the edge of the desk- sitting the book down on it that I got from the shelves. She had asked for it. I sat down in my seat in front of the desk slowly.

"Mom?" I asked. "What does it say? Should I go get father?" Her eyes shot up at me after scrolling through the letter.

"Go get your father," she said calmly. I left the room quickly- heading straight across the hall for my father's study. I knocked on it before entering- catching him at his desk as well. He was hovering over a map while reading a paper.

"Dad?" I asked. His eyes shot up at me. "Mom needs you," I told him and pointed over my shoulder. "There's a letter from the- Dracula?" He smiled.

"I'll be there in a second," he told me as he looked to be wrapping up the pages on his desk. I went back to my mother- who was already writing something. I sat back down in my seat, waiting for my father. When he walked in, he went straight up to my mother and kissed the top of her head. "What does he want?" He asked in amusement.

"They're throwing a ball for their youngest. It'll be his birthday soon. So they asked for us to come with Paris." She looked towards me and eyed me over. She handed over the letter to him.

"Oh?" He asked as he eyed over the letter. "Paris, this will be your first formal event." He looked towards me. "You should wear your best clothes. Our good friends asked us to stay a few days as well. This is going to become very serious for you. It's about time you learned your duties. You're getting closer in age." He's right. I was fifteen- but my dad still had me following my mother around. He claimed he wanted to wait another year before training me... looks like this is going to be the end of following my mother.

"Yes, father." I eyed him over and raised an eyebrow.

"Well, I'll tell the servants to pack our clothes." My mother gave a huge smile as she left the room. My father walked up to me and laid his hand down on my shoulder. He patted it before leaving. I stood up slowly, looking towards the butler standing off to the side.

"You should get back to work," I suggested. I picked up the knife off my mother's desk and ran my fingers across the blade. My shoulders were aching. I haven't been able to scratch them all morning. He looked me over then before he walked up and took the knife from me then placed it in my mother's drawer.

"Of course, master Paris. However, you shouldn't hold your mother's knife. I know about your shoulder habits," he told me before he gave me a look then left the room, calling out for a maid to instruct.

~Time Skip~

As we walked through the doors of a giant, majestic (and somewhat dark looking) castle, I saw a butler waiting to greet us, but four people walked up instead, looking directly at my father and mother. "You're about an hour late, Alexandre," I heard the oldest dark-haired man say as he looked my father over. "We've been waiting for you. My son has been impatient to meet yours." The youngest boy looked at me in excitement then and laughed before he started to run up to me, but his mother tsked at him, making him widen his eyes.

"Don't run. Walk," she told him sternly, watching him closely. He looked back at her then.

"Yes mom," he said and blushed.

"You're slouching too. Stand up straight. Act like you have some sense, Vlad," she scolded and shook her head. He bit his bottom lip then straightened up before he looked towards me and walked up, grabbing my hand. I saw the eldest boy watching me, his shoulders back and his posture perfect. He was beautiful and took after his father, having his dark black hair. He looked me over and then put his hands behind his back and looked towards his brother then looked up at his mother.

"Mother," he started, his voice like silk, "since how my brother's new friend finally arrived, may I go play my piano?" He glanced at me and gave a small smirk before he looked up at his mother. He looked important, having been dressed up very finely for the occasion. She looked at him then sighed.

"Of course, Richardo. You may go," she told him then watched as he turned away from us and started to walk off. I felt my stone pulse slightly at the sight of the older vampire leaving us behind, his scent catching my attention and making me want to follow him. His brother Vlad grinned up at me and laughed.

"Now that you're here, we can finally have some fun. Come on, we're going to be the best of friends," he purred to me and started to tug me away from my parents. "Let's go play a game while our parents enjoy the festivities... unless you'd rather go into the ballroom and mingle with the other guests?" I saw the older vampire, Richardo, glance over his shoulder before his reddish-brown eyes lingered on us, but he lost interest and turned the corner, disappearing from my sight. Why is he wanting to isolate himself? Doesn't he want to make a friend? I thought that was ideal for vampires- make allies and not enemies. He's not going to be a great King if he's running around a corner to go play a -piano? A piano! I bet it sounds beautiful. He might play it at the ball tonight. I bet he's practicing for his brother. He's planning on a surprise for him! That must be why he's running off and isolating himself. Well I won't let him! As soon as I lose Vlad, I'm going to go tell him straight that he needs to be mingling with his guests instead of hiding in a music room.

"We could play hide and seek," I suggested to Vlad. That way I can get away with ditching him and roaming the halls to find that- older vampire. He's a terrible host.

"Vlad, Paris, don't play forever in the halls. You're both old enough to know games can wait for later. You both have a ball to attend to," my mother reminded us. "You can have half an hour to play your childish game... but then you need to come to the ballroom and dance with some ladies your own age."

"Yes mom," I said quickly and gave her a loving look. I glanced Vlad over. "I'll count to one hundred. You can run off and hide." I watched as our parents lost interest and headed - probably to a ballroom. Vlad frowned at me then.

"But it's my castle. Shouldn't I be the one finding you? You'd get lost for hours trying to find me," he told me and then looked after his parents leaving him before he looked back at me. "Maybe we should play something else... like chess?"

"I'd rather play hide and seek," I told him stubbornly. "I won't get that lost. It also teaches us skills we might need one day," I told him. That's if my real plans were to track him down. I closed my eyes and began counting down from one hundred. I heard him laugh then before he took off running quickly, not putting up another fight about hide and seek. After a few minutes, I couldn't hear him running anymore, and his scent had faded enough to let me know he was further away in the castle. It didn't even sound like he went in the same direction his brother had disappeared in earlier. The coast was clear. I stopped counting down and started in the direction his brother did, tracking him down. After a few halls, I heard a piano playing. I followed the sound to a door that was cracked open. I peeked in curiously. The piano was actually beautiful sounding....

There he was, his eyes closed as he listened to the music while his fingers raced gracefully along the white and black keys, hitting chilling chords that sent a shiver down my spine. He was playing something dark sounding that had a hint of sorrow in it. He opened his eyes slowly, and I saw a faint smile grow on his face as he looked down at the keys. He looked truly happy in here, playing on his piano where no one was with him. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard too, entrancing me as it sounded like angels playing and not a boy. He must've practiced all his life on this piano to sound like that.... I want to play like that! I blushed as I felt a love growing for that sound. It was speaking to me. Maybe I can get him to teach me to play. I pushed the door open a bit- listening to it squeak open. I gently knocked on the wall as I stepped into the music room. "Do you mind?" I asked. He stopped abruptly then looked towards me tensed but then relaxed as he saw it was me.

"Oh, it's just you," he said and then smirked slightly. "No, I don't mind at all," he purred out. "Shut the door behind you." He looked me over and turned to face me on the piano bench, studying me. I gave a friendly smile. I walked in and shut the door behind me- like he asked.

"You might have a gift," I told him playfully as I looked at the piano. "It's very interesting- uh- what you were playing." He smirked then nodded.

"It's an original piece... one of my favorites," he told me then turned back to his piano. "If you'd like, you can sit down and listen to me play, or did you come in here for something else?" He glanced at me over his shoulder then, looking me straight in the eyes with a playful smirk.

"I'm a little interested in learning," I admitted. I blushed as I walked up to him and glanced down at the keys. "Can I learn it?" I asked. He looked up at me then thought about it before he made room on the piano bench.

"I don't see why not," he purred out to me. "Sit." He watched me then ran his fingers to one of the keys, waiting on me. "I'll teach you a little something." He smirked a bit at me and gave me a playful look. "You escaped my brother, didn't you?" I blushed but nodded.

"I told him we'd play hide in seek- he's hiding at the moment." I pushed my white curls over my ear that was closest to him and ran my fingers over the keys. I brightened up as I heard them play a tune back to me. "Whoa," I whispered. He smirked at me then pulled me down onto the bench.

"I'm glad you like it," he purred to me and then took my hand and placed it over a few keys then started to make me touch them lightly with my fingertips as they played notes back to me. "This is a scale. They're very basic and used for learning notes on an instrument," he murmured to me, watching my fingers as he kept his hand over mine. "I doubt my brother will catch on for an hour that you're not finding him." I nodded as I paid attention to the scale he was teaching me. I caught on fast and brushed his hand away, playing the scale on my own. He watched me curiously then smirked slightly before he looked at me. "You're a quick learner," he purred to me. "That's the C scale. That means it starts on C and it ends on C." I felt him get up then, walking over to a shelf before he brought back a small book and set it down on the piano and opened it up. "That's C," he told me, reaching over my shoulder to point to it as he sat down next to me. "The next note is D... then E... then F, G, A, B, C, and then you go back down to B." He looked at me then and smirked before I felt him pull me closer with his arm around me. He leaned in then towards my neck before he purred in my ear. "Your name is Paris, right?" He husked out into my ear. I nodded and felt my heart race- no one my age ever gets this close to me!

"My name is Paris Grimm," I told him and faced him the best I could. "What's yours?" I asked curiously. I don't think I caught it earlier. Only Vlad told me his name, and I already knew who their parents were out of assumption.

"Richardo Dracula," he whispered to me and then pulled me closer. I felt something sharp scrape against my neck then as he purred against me. We lost our balance as he leaned in further, and we fell into the floor with him on top as he bit down into my neck and started to drink my blood. I yelped out in pain and felt panic rise in me. He's drinking my blood! I squirmed under him, bringing my knee towards his manhood in hopes to get him off. He groaned on top of me then pulled back, looking me in the eyes. "Paris," he groaned out then sat up on me, wincing. "You can't seriously believe those lies that our parents feed us," he hissed out. "There's nothing sinful about drinking each other's blood! We have fangs for a reason! We were born with them that way we could take what's ours." He looked down at me then and glared before he got up, stumbling slightly before he sat down on the piano bench. "Their rules and laws are wrong! They're just there to keep us under their thumbs," he hissed. He licked his lips clean then before he narrowed his eyes at me. I trembled a little before grabbing at my neck and rubbed at it- feeling it healing. I sat up slowly and gave out a shaky breath.

"Your parents don't know you do this- do they?" I asked him. Should I call him out on it in front of his parents? He glared at me then turned to his piano.

"You're not going to tell anybody because if you do, you'll be shunned by everyone for letting another vampire bite you. They know I do it. They try to hide it from the others because I refuse to obey their rules," he hissed out then went back to playing. "Besides, you're mine." He looked at the keys then, irritated. "I can't believe you play by the rules," he muttered. "They're stupid, and they're wrong. You don't know anything though because you haven't ever broken one, have you?" He glanced back at me then narrowed his eyes before he got up and walked over to me. He studied me then before he bit into his wrist, a small groan escaping him as his blood started to run down his arm. He pulled back and licked his lips clean before he looked at me and shoved his wrist against my lips. "I'll make you see," he hissed lightly, forcing his blood into my mouth. It tasted wonderful, too good to be true. It was amazing and a lot better than the blood I've had before, making me crave every drop of it. I felt tears slip down my cheeks as I let out a small moan. I bit down into his skin and started to feast on his blood. Why does his blood taste so wonderful? Why are there rules to prevent vampires from drinking from each other? I sat up and leaned into his wrist more, curling my arms around it to keep it close.

I heard him start to purr to me before he sat down on the ground with me. "There you go," he whispered and then pulled me close with his other hand. "Don't you see? They're wrong. They're all wrong," he told me and kissed my temple. "They lie to us all the time and tell us it's sinful to drink from each other. They just want us to be stuck under their thumbs for the rest of our lives... and those laws against being with your mate if they're male... or not a pureblood... or not the one you're betrothed to? They're all terrible lies," he told me then leaned in and rested his face against my neck as I fed from him. "You're my mate, Paris. Can't you feel it? We're meant to be together for eternity," he whispered then gently kissed my neck. "I need you to realize this.... We can't be together if we stay stuck under their rules. We can't be who we truly are, Paris. We're meant to drink from each other. We're meant to be together. This is our destiny." He pulled back then looked me in the eyes, watching me closely. I pulled away from his wrist and leaned in- smelling his scent out of curiosity. I moaned at the smell of him and looked up into his eyes. He had so many good points. Even over the years... I questioned my parents. I don't ever want to leave his side.

"Richard," I whispered. I wanted to give him my own name for him. I glanced him over. "I don't.... ever want to leave you.... I'm attracted to you," I admitted and blushed. He blushed as he heard me before he purred and leaned in, giving me a soft kiss on the lips as he held me close. He pulled back then leaned into my neck, giving it a kiss and laughed softly.

"We'll figure something out," he whispered to me. "I knew you'd find your way to my music room," he purred and chuckled. "You're my mate after all." I blushed a bright red then. He knew!? He knew we were mates before me! Well of course he did- I bet he knows more than me- he's got two or so years above me. He purred as he saw me blushing then rubbed my back. "Don't tell anyone about what has happened in this music room," he told me then leaned in and kissed me again. "They'd separate us, and we'd never see each other again. My parents would be furious." He pulled me to my feet then and took me over to the piano before he sat me down on the bench with him then smirked. "So, Richard? Do you like that better than Richardo?" He teased as he started to play the song from earlier again.

"You don't mind, right?" I asked him and gave him a sweet look. I watched his fingers quickly to learn the song so I can play it on my own.

"No, I don't mind," he purred and glanced over at me then watched me watching him. "Would you like me to teach you this one?" He stopped then and went back to the beginning, playing a couple of the notes for me to watch and try. "You seem to like it." He smirked and looked me in the eyes before he kissed my cheek gently. I watched his fingers before brushing them to the side and repeated the notes he showed me. I looked up into his eyes before looking him over.

"Richard, we will change the rules." I leaned in and kissed his cheek. I pulled back slowly, feeling my heart race in my chest. He looked at me then and tensed before he purred to me and pulled me closer, stealing another kiss from my lips.

"We'll change them?" He asked me and then laughed. "Oh, you're very much my mate," he purred and then gave me another kiss. He ran his fingers down my back slowly along my spine. "I'm so glad you see it." He pulled his hands away then and showed me the next few notes and watched me with a proud look. "How long are you staying?" He asked me softly. "You're staying a few days, yes?"

"My parents said a few days," I confirmed. I hit the next notes he gave me before repeating the last set and added on the new set. I looked him in the eyes and blushed. "Why do you think they don't want us choosing our spouse?" I asked curiously. "Plus, we're both males... so how would we mate- why would fate place us together?" I tilted my head. He purred then.

"Like I said, they want to control us. They think it's wrong to be with another male...." He showed me the next few notes then kissed my cheek. "We won't have trouble mating as long as we don't get caught," he purred and then gave me a playful look. "Fate put us together because we're soulmates. We complement each other perfectly," he whispered then leaned in and playfully nipped at my ear before he licked it. I blushed and leaned away from his lips and played the next notes he showed me.

"Richard," I whispered to him before scooting to give us space between each other. I just met him! Yeah, he's supposed to be my mate- but... He's so attractive. I breathed in his scent and purred. He purred at me then before he went back to showing me the song, taking me step by step through it.

After a while, he pulled his hands back from the keys and looked at me. "Do you have all that memorized?" He asked me and smirked. "That's the whole song." He watched me curiously as he ran his fingers across the keys slowly, not making a sound on the piano as he felt the keys. I nodded before playing the whole song for him, placing a little passion in it to make sure he was listening. He purred softly as he watched my fingers then leaned over and kissed my cheek. "You're such a fast learner," he whispered to me and then listened as he closed his eyes.

"Richardo, it's time for you to come play for your broth-" I heard his mother say as she opened the door then paused, staring at the two of us before she looked at Richard. "Richardo, what are you doing?" She hissed at him. He tensed then looked over at her before he gave her an innocent look.

"I'm teaching young Paris to play the piano. He's very skilled at learning," he said and then stood up. "He catches on quickly, mother." She eyed the two of us over then looked at me.

"Paris, Vlad is in the ballroom, waiting. Come along you two," she said sternly, eyeing Richard over suspiciously. "Richardo, your fiancé is here tonight as well. Make sure to take a break from the piano tonight to go give her a dance." Richard frowned at her then.

"No, I don't want to dance tonight," he said stubbornly then walked past her. "I'm the only one playing piano tonight. I'm not passing it up on my brother's big day." She narrowed her eyes at him and lightly smacked him in the back of the head.

"You'll dance with her," she told him firmly. "She came all this way to see you." He hissed lightly and rubbed the back of his head.

"Mother, I'm not going to." He glared at her then kept walking. "I want to spend time playing the piano for my brother. He deserves it. It's his birthday, and he asked for me specifically, not a servant." I walked after Richard quickly so I wouldn't get ditched.

"Richard is engaged?" I asked and looked towards him. He didn't tell me. He looked at me with a frown.

"She's not special," he muttered to me.

"Yes, Richardo is engaged," his mother told me. "With a little luck, maybe this one won't wind up not being able to marry him like the past six fiancés he's had." Richard smirked at that then and looked at me, giving me a playful look.

"Yes, maybe," he said calmly and looked back at his mother who glared at him.

"Richardo, she better reach the altar," she told him and shook her head. He looked at me then before he purred slightly then looked ahead, not seeming concerned at all about the fact he had a fiancé. His mother walked past us and lead us into the ballroom, turning to look at me. "Vlad is over there," she told me and smiled at me softly as she pointed to her son, talking to other guests our age. Richard glanced in that direction then hummed and started for the piano. I saw girls start to look after him and blush as he passed by.

"It's Richardo~" I heard one of the girls whisper happily. Another squealed quietly as he looked her direction to pass her. He smirked then winked at her before the girls started to part for him, giggling as a few trailed after him in excitement.

"Richardo, are you going to play, or will you dance tonight?" A brave girl asked, fidgeting as she blushed a deep shade of red. He looked towards her then smirked at her.

"No, I will not be dancing tonight," he said then looked directly at his mother who narrowed her eyes slightly and walked off from me. He headed up to the piano then and took his seat as the girls giggled and followed him, standing a few feet away as they swooned over him and whispered amongst themselves, eyeing my mate over. He smirked confidently and looked their way before he ran his fingers over the keys. Vlad looked up towards his brother then got a huge smile on his face. If I go over to Vlad, he might tell me he's upset I kept him waiting. I'll just make up an excuse that he was extremely hard to find- but I'll do it later. I watched Richard step on stage- briefly wondering why he thought I was his, remember the comment from earlier. Was it as in I'm a pet? I eyed over the crowd to try to find his fiancé. I'll dance with her. My eyes stopped scanning as I saw his father near the cakes. That's Dracula! I'll make friends with Vlad again by luring him with cake. I rushed to Vlad's side and tugged on his shirt. "Vlad?" I asked. "You want some cake? Your daddy is by it," I pointed to the cake in eagerness. He looked towards me then frowned slightly before he looked towards the cake.

"W-well... where were you?" He asked me and frowned before he grabbed my hand and started to take me to the cake. "You never came to find me!" He looked me over and shook his head.

"You hide so well," I teased him and gave his hand a squeeze. "Don't be mad at me. I found you now, isn't that enough?" I asked. "I tell you what, we'll play chess next together." I gave him a sweet smile as we walked up to get our cake slices from his father. He looked towards us then smiled as he saw Vlad.

"Happy birthday, my sweet little boy," he purred then gave us both a slice of cake as Richardo started to play a birthday song on the piano. Vlad looked towards Richardo quickly then giggled before he gave me an excited look then started to pull me towards his brother to watch him closer.

"That's my brother, Richardo. He's such a great player," he purred to me and grinned. "I got him to play for us all tonight~"

"Yeah?" I asked and giggled. I started to eat my slice of cake as I watched Richard playing for his brother. When the song was over, I turned to Vlad. "Happy Birthday," I told him. He looked at me then smiled hugely.

"Thank you, Paris," he purred happily and took a bite of his cake before he rushed up to Richard and sat down with him, kissing his cheek. I heard a scoff behind me then.

"Who let in a pipsqueak," I heard a voice say then laugh. "Jeez, I can't believe Vlad has taken a liking to that." A few guys laughed then. "We're going to have to show Vlad better friends than that little French Poodle."

"French Poodle?" I asked and scoffed, turning to the voices. I took a step for them to teach them that I wasn't a pipsqueak, but a pretty girl stepped in front of me.

"Hello! You want to dance with me?" She asked. She was probably one of the prettiest girls in the room. Her hair was a pretty sunshine blonde while her eyes hid a dark vampire red. She was in a red dress to match her eyes and her hair was put up in a matching bow. She had on cute heels to give herself extra height- but I could tell she was a bit younger than me- maybe Vlad's age.

"Y-yes do I- I mean yes I do," I gasped out and held out a hand for her. "My name is Paris Grimm- would you do me an honor of dancing with me?" I asked her and bowed slightly. She giggled, taking a huge liking to me.

"My name is Valerian Robin. I'm the princess of Italy. You're the prince of France!" She took my hand quickly.

"Who are those boys?" I asked as I eyed down the guys that were making fun of me. "Oh? That's the prince of Germany- but I don't know the others or his name." I gave her hand a small kiss before taking her to the dance floor to give her a good time.

After a few hours of me mingling and dancing with the guests, I saw a girl walk up to Richard, wrapping her arms around her neck as he played and leaned into his ear, whispering something to him. He looked back at her then smirked before he went back to playing. She smiled and then pulled back, putting her brown hair back behind her ear before she started to walk off towards the doors, disappearing from the party. He glanced over to where she went then looked back at the piano, finishing up the song before he stood up and walked over to a nearby servant and whispered to him before the servant took his place and started a simple waltz. Richard went after where she went, sneaking out of the room out of sight of the other girls and shut the door quietly, leaving the party. "It seems my brother is sneaking off with his fiancé," I heard Vlad speak up from beside me with a small frown. "How scandalous of him.... He's lucky no one was watching him." I was watching him. I looked towards Vlad in frustration.

"That is totally not appropriate," I hissed. I let it go slowly. He's got a fiancé. He has duties... I can't help that. It's not like we can do anything about it right now. That's if he's wanting to change for me. A servant walked up to us with a tray of blood in wine glasses. He handed us two glasses before walking away. I sipped on the blood and started for the doors, getting an urge to urinate. "I'll be back later," I told Vlad. I saw Richardo out in the hall then, a small smirk on his face as he headed for a door further down the hall. He glanced back as he heard the door open then tensed as he saw me.

"Paris," he whispered then purred my way. "What are you doing out here?"

"Uh-" I blushed. "This isn't what it looks like," I told him quickly. I'm so not following him... right? "I'm just looking for the outside doors," I said innocently.

"The doors to go outside?" He laughed then and took my hand. "Funny, I was just heading outside." He started to pull me along then and purred, kissing my cheek. "I apologize that I didn't tell you about my fiancé first thing," he whispered to me. "She doesn't matter to me, and my mom keeps forcing me to get engaged even though she knows that I don't want to be engaged to someone I didn't pick." He gave my hand a squeeze then. "I'm not marrying her. I refuse."

"You promise?" I asked him softly. That changes my views I just had of him. "Why were you going outside?" I asked curiously. He looked at me then looked around before he gave me an unsure look.

"Well... to be honest, I'm going to drain her before she gets in our way," he whispered to me lowly and gave my hand a squeeze. "I'm not marrying her.... She asked me to meet her out in the garden, so I'm going to get her there where no one will see and then I'm making it look like an accident." I widened my eyes. HE'S A SERIAL KILLER! I yanked away from him and took off for the ball room to warn his parents of his plans. He's a serial killer and he'll probably kill me next! "Paris!" He called out for me quickly then ran after me, snatching my hand before he yanked me into a hug. "Stop, stop, stop," he said and then kissed the top of my head. "Paris, there's nothing to be afraid of. If you're scared that I'd hurt you, I would never hurt you," he told me and then ran his fingers through my hair. "Look, I'm killing her for you that way we can be together. If I don't, they'll force me to marry her, and there's no way in Hell I'd marry her. She'd never approve of us. Paris, please.... I'm doing this for us," he whispered then tilted my chin up to him. "She needs to go." He leaned in then kissed my lips softly. "If she ever found out, she'd tell... and I don't want to be forced up an aisle to an alter to marry her. Don't be afraid of me. We're mates." I sniffled and looked into his eyes.

"You're doing it for us?" I asked softly. "How do I know for certain you won't kill me too?" I asked him.

"Because why would I tell you all these things if I was going to kill you too?" He asked me and laughed a little. "I wouldn't let you in on my thoughts, my songs, and my life if I was going to kill you, Paris.... I love you," he whispered then leaned in and gave me a soft kiss. "I want to be with you, not someone else." He pulled me closer then and gave me another kiss on the lips, a small purr rising in him. I purred and nodded. He's really wanting to be my prince charming.

"I'm not so sure about killing someone," I explained to him. He looked me over then sighed.

"Paris... she'll get in our way, and if she finds out about us, she'll report us," he whispered then rubbed my back. "You could drink from her with me if you'd like. I wouldn't stop you from accompanying me. I want to do this for us that way we can be together, and you'll be safe from the ones who'd work to separate us from each other. You don't want that, do you?"

"No... I don't want us separated," I whispered. I gave him a loving look and nodded in agreement with him. I'll give in. "I don't want to drink her blood though," I told him. He nodded then and kissed my cheek.

"Alright, wait for me by the door. I'll do it," he whispered then stopped by the doors that led outside and opened it, giving me a smile. "I'll be right back, Paris," he told me then walked out, shutting the door. After a few minutes, he came back in and glanced towards me before he reached out for my hand and shut the door. "Paris," he purred out quickly. He pulled me close then kissed my lips. "It's just us," he promised me then kissed my neck gently. "I love you...." I let out a shaky breath, realizing he had killed someone. Another vampire. He broke more rules. He pulled back then looked be in the eyes before he rubbed my cheek. "Are you alright?" He asked and gave me a concerned look. He studied me and then pulled me into a hug, kissing the top of my head. "It's okay, Paris." He ran his fingers through my hair and started to purr soothingly to me.

"What happens when you get caught?" I asked him. I sniffled a little.

"I doubt I'm going to get caught. I made it look like werewolves did it," he whispered to me then looked me in the eyes. "We do have werewolves here after all...." He held me close and then looked around. "Do you want to go back to the party... or would you like me to show you around?" He asked softly and looked back at me. "I don't want you worrying about this for too long... and I'd like to spend time with you." I looked him over before looking in the direction of the ball.

"Vlad might miss our company." He nodded to me before he kissed my lips then before he leaned his forehead against mine and purred.

"Alright, we'll go back to the ball.... Maybe we'll be able to see each other alone again before you have to leave.... You know where my piano room is," he whispered then pulled away, starting to walk back to the ballroom. I followed him, wondering if my parents were worried or not. He glanced back at me and gave a small smirk before he opened the door for me, letting me inside first then followed me in. Vlad ran up and tackled Richard then giggled before he looked towards me.

"There you are~" He snatched my hand then and laughed. "The ball is almost over. Father said I needed to show you your room. You're going to be on the same hall as Richard and me." I smiled and held out my hand for his.

"Okay. Let's go find my room," I suggested. "You want to come Richard?" I asked curiously. He looked us over then nodded.

"I don't see why not," he said calmly. Vlad grinned then and started to pull me back outside, taking me down the halls as Richard trailed behind us, watching from afar. His brother kept going on and on about how his party was great and how he got a dance or something.... I don't know. I couldn't keep up with what he was saying. I laughed softly to pretend I was listening to his rambles. I made sure to glance back at Richard to keep my eyes on him. He's not ditching me with his talkative brother. When we reached my bedroom door, I knew it was mine as Vlad changed his tone of voice to be extra cheerful as he directed me inside and showed me the closet and add on bathroom that had a tub inside and built in wale pump- the bedroom had a fire to warm water. There was an attached sitting room where servants were ready to receive orders. Richard looked around the room then leaned up against the wall as his little brother giggled and turned to me.

"My room is right across the hall! If you ever need anything, just come over and ask!" He laughed then before he pointed to a wall. "There are some shelves over there for you to read books if you get bored~! Richardo is the room right next door to yours, so we're both close by if you ever want anything," he told me. Richard shook his head a little at his little brother before he crossed his arms, looking the room over like he was inspecting it then looked towards the sitting room for the servants with a frown. The servants gave us a nervous look as a butler was quick to close off the sitting room to give us privacy- bowing at us out of respect. Before the door shut, I had just enough time to see a door that went off somewhere else- I bet it's the door the servants use.

"Are they always going to be there?" I asked Vlad, referring to the servants. In my house they didn't even come into my room unless it was to serve me. I like my privacy- because I need it to get away with scratching my shoulders and talking to the demon. Maybe they'll use that door and leave me alone.

"No, not always. They aren't there late at night," he told me and shrugged. "When it's lights out that is.... They go to their own rooms or they go to the night shift and start taking care of the house in areas that are frequently used so they can't clean in the day," he explained. Richard looked back towards me then before he got off the wall and started for the door. "Richardo, where are you going?" Vlad asked quickly and frowned in disappointment.

"To change into something a bit more comfortable," he said and glanced back at us. "I don't have to impress you, do I?"

"Yes, you must always impress me," Vlad purred and gave a small smirk, grabbing him by his arm and hugged him.

"Vlad~ Mind giving me some privacy?" I asked him and grabbed him by the arm and pushed him into the hall. I made sure Richard slipped out the door before I closed it in Vlad's face. Finally! Privacy! I yanked off my coat and ran my fingers over my shoulders, scratching at them. I let out a small gasp of joy as I started for the bed. I fell down on it and ripped off the shirt- that way I wouldn't get blood on it. I dug my sharp nails into my skin and scratched hard at it. I heard Vlad and Richard walking away from my door then.

"So Richardo, where did your fiancé go? She never came back in with you," I heard Vlad mumble outside.

"Oh... I don't know. I never found her out there. She disappeared before I could get outside. I figured that perhaps she lost interest and went back inside," he said innocently. "She's probably on her way home, grumbling about me."

"I guess that makes sense," Vlad said and laughed before I heard the door shut. Richard sighed in the hallway before he went into the room next to mine and shut the door firmly before it got quiet, and I could scratch my shoulders in peace.

After about an hour, I heard a maid come in, and she looked towards me then smiled. "Master Paris, it's getting late. Would you like it if I blew the candles out for you?" She asked, giving a small curtsy to me. "I've been instructed to check in on you." I heard the door open then before Richard stepped in.

"Oh... they're here to put you to bed already," Richard said and looked the maid over. "Good.... I came to say goodnight, Paris, on behalf of myself and my brother. He was pleased to meet you tonight at his ball," he told me then smirked slightly before he looked me over. "Breakfast is served in bed if you ask for it," he purred then started to walk back out.

"Goodnight Richard," I purred out. I had already crawled up under the covers and put my white silk shirt back on. My shoulders were throbbing in pain- but I was satisfied. I had my journal and pen laying out on the bed next to me- my journal was laid open. I was just about to write about Richard in it. I glanced towards the maid. "That won't be necessary. I'll want a bath in the morning as well as breakfast." I gave her a kind smile. "You're dismissed." Richard waited at the door, watching her leave then turned to me and crossed his arms.

"Paris, why do I smell blood?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at me.

"I don't know," I told him innocently. I looked him in the eyes to try to make myself look like I was telling the truth. "I don't smell blood." He frowned and then walked up to me.

"No... I smell blood, and it's yours," he said then narrowed his eyes slightly at me before he pulled the sheets back then moved the collar of my shirt over, looking towards my shoulders. He tsked then. "Did you do this on purpose?" He asked me then shook his head. "Paris...."

"Richard," I grumbled and let out a small gasp. I can't believe he just exposed my shoulders like that. Those are private to me. "They itch really bad," I explained. "I can't help it." I glanced down at my shoulder, looking at the wounds that were taking a slow time to heal. He relaxed a little at my words then let go before he kissed my forehead.

"They itch really bad?" He asked me softly and knelt at the side of my bed, watching me with a small smile. "Well... I can't be mad about that then," he told me then purred. "Maybe we can get you something to put on your shoulders to help you not feel an itch. Those are some bad scratches." He looked towards the servant's door, listening for them then bit down into his wrist and offered it to me. "Here, this could help heal it," he whispered softly. I looked towards his wrist with interest before nodding and slowly leaned into the wound. I licked up the blood pouring out and let out a small moan. I felt my shoulders starting to scar over- a small growing itch sensation spreading across them. I pulled back and started to scratch at the sensation, laying down in the process. He looked at me then pulled my hands away before he started to lightly scratch my shoulders for me through my shirt, purring lightly. I watched him curiously- widening my eyes a bit. No one has ever scratched my shoulder for me.

"Harder?" I asked him. He laughed a little then and started to do it a bit harder like I asked of him.

"Is this good?" He asked me and smirked, sitting down on the edge of my bed. I turned over onto my stomach and yanked off my shirt, letting him get at my shoulder better- but I was also showing off how bad the scars really were. I heard him gasp softly. "Paris... that's horrible," he whispered to me then leaned down and kissed between my shoulder blades. "That looks painful...." His nails continued to drag across my skin, not drawing blood but close to it for me. I hid my face against the pillows before resting my head on my cheek.

"Yeah... that's what they tell me..." I trailed off and let out a small moan from his nails. "Please don't tell my parents about tonight- about me scratching." I felt him pause before he went back to scratching my shoulders for me.

"I won't," he whispered. "It seems we both have our little secrets," he purred before I felt his lips gently placing a kiss on my shoulder blade above one of my scars. I nodded in agreement. We do. I have my dirty habit, and he's a rule breaker.

"We have more in common," I laughed out softly. I closed my eyes then. "Harder?" I asked him.

"Any harder and I'll break skin," he whispered to me and then kissed the back of my neck. I whined and reached out- scratching my skin instead and dug my nails in to satisfy my itch. He smacked my hands lightly and sighed before he started to scratch harder for me. I started to feel my blood run down my back then as he gave in, tearing my shoulders up for me. I let out a hiss of pain and curled up into a ball. I stretched out my fingers and relaxed at his touch. He eased up quickly and leaned down, kissing between my shoulder blades again. "Was that too hard?" He asked me softly then licked my blood up from my back, a small moan escaping him.

"No- it was perfect," I told him and brought the pillow close to my chest. I leaned my face into it and let out a shaky breath. He licked my blood up then and purred before he went back to scratching hard again, giving me small little kisses on my back every few seconds. I suddenly felt him kiss my neck then before he kissed my cheek, dragging his nails down sharply. I gasped out in pleasure- letting him continue until the itch left my system. "Ri-Richard... It's okay.... You can stop now," I told him. "It's surpassed." He stopped and started to lick my warm blood off my back, moaning at the taste as he purred to me and didn't let my blood go to waste. I waited for him to finish before turning over to face him and gave him a tired look. "T-thank you. No one has ever... done that for me." I glanced him over in acceptance. He purred then.

"No one huh?" He asked me then leaned down and gave my lips a gentle kiss. "I'm glad I was the first one... and I better be the last one to do it for you too," he whispered then rubbed my cheek. "The maids have left the waiting room."

"I know," I told him and purred. "They don't have much reason to be in there. I'm supposed to be sleeping." I gave a small laugh before pulling my shirt back on. I leaned in towards his cheek and gave it a small kiss. "I wish you could sleep with me tonight and it be fine." His eyes softened at that and he leaned down and planted another kiss on my lips.

"One day... it will be fine," he whispered to me. "I promise you that. You know...." He smirked then. "I could put a chair up against the servant's doors and lock your bedroom door and sleep in here with you. If they come in, we'll say it was because you had a nightmare or something...." He winked at me and chuckled.

"Do you really think that'll get past them?" I asked and picked up my journal and pen to make room for him in the bed.

"I doubt they'll even get in," he said and purred before he got up and grabbed a chair, picking it up and taking it over to the servant's door before he leaned it up against it, making it stay shut before he walked over to my bedroom door and locked it. He turned to me and walked over before he undid his red suit jacket, he was wearing then set it down on the nightstand, revealing a white shirt underneath. He took his shoes off and placed them down under the bed then climbed into the bed with me, wrapping his arms around me as he pulled me up against his chest and leaned his face into my neck. "Isn't this better?"

"Way better," I told him and sat my journal on the nightstand with my pen. I'll have to write the rest in it tomorrow. He kissed my neck then and laughed slightly.

"Maybe one day we'll be in bed like this all the time," he whispered in my ear then looked towards my journal. "Do you normally write in journals?"

"Everything goes in them," I told him and smiled. "One day I'll appreciate them." I purred slightly. He's going in them. He nodded and then looked my journal over before he kissed my cheek and leaned over, blowing out the candle and submerging us in darkness as he held me close, falling asleep beside me with his face in the crook of my neck. I let out a small purr. This felt so right... he's my soulmate. I felt my eyes getting heavy as sleep started to take me over.
