Chapter 7 - C6: Hoards are for Dragons

Laurence's POV:

Ertis, my sweet red dragon, purred to me as he laid in my treasure hoard that he loved to play in. He sat up as he saw me and stretched his old wings before he walked up then nuzzled his head against my chest. "Laurence," he purred to me then pulled back to look me in the eyes happily. "You haven't grown an inch since the day I came in here." He laid down in front of me and fluttered his wings a little. "Do you want a ride before I get too old to take you in the sky?" He laughed a little before his purr rumbled in his chest. "It won't be too much longer, I think. I'm as old as time...." I glanced him over before reaching out and rubbed his head.

"I just came down to tell you I'll be having guests in the castle again. So, if they come, I'd like them to meet you. They don't have dragons I would imagine," I explained to him before kneeling down in front of him and wrapped my arms around his head. I held him tightly there before letting his head go. "You are old," I purred to him and rested my head on his head. "I think you have a few more centuries left in you," I said confidently. He laughed then as he looked up at me then nudged me before he purred and let his head rest in the gold.

"I would imagine they don't have dragons. Not many of us get friendly with humans or vampires or whoever was in the castle first. It takes a special soul to be able to live with a dragon and not be eaten." He sighed and breathed smoke my way a little before he pulled back and coughed. "I don't know about a few centuries, Laurence. Sometimes I feel like my fire is going to eat me up inside." He leaned down and nuzzled his throat against the cold gold coins.

"You're a very old dragon," I told him. "Just imagine my age," I whispered and watched him. "I'm going to outlive you for more than you can imagine." I rested my hand on his head before I glanced over my shoulder at the servants waiting outside the hoard doors. "I told the servants to bring you some fish," I told him and nodded at them. They walked it- fifteen in all with large baskets of fish from the town markets. I always fed him right. He looked towards the fish with interest and purred, waiting calmly for it as he watched the servants setting the baskets down before he sat up on his hind legs and picked a basket up carefully and started to eat out of it, licking the fish out. He had the baskets finished off in a matter of seconds before he looked down towards me and leaned down, licking my cheek then laid back down.

"I'm grateful for the fish," he told me and then nuzzled his head against the gold as he watched me. "Laurence, when I get too old-" I heard a roar then from the front doors, shaking the entire castle. I could hear a few of my servants screaming in terror. Ertis sat up quickly and looked at the door in alarm then quickly nudged me with his front paw under his chest where I could easily hide and stand as he kept a paw in front of me to hide me. I could hear him growling in anger as he stared at the door, tensing up.

"A dragon?" I asked softly. "Dragons stopped trying to break in here years ago," I muttered. This castle has been dragon free for a very long time- dragon intruders that is. Ertis has kept dragons away for a long time thanks to his well-known strength- plus I have visions to help prevent these attacks- but I didn't see this one happening today. It was a last-minute plan. "Ertis," I whispered in worry. He's not even feeling good today with the way he was talking about his age. I placed my hand up on his chest to comfort him in case he was freaking out about one being today. I felt him purr at my touch and relax slightly before he stood up all the way. He was about to go to the door when it was thrown off its hinges and Ertis was tackled from above me down into the gold beside me. A younger black dragon had him by his throat and was slamming him down into the gold as his claws tore at Ertis's chest, tearing his scales off to get at his more fragile skin. Ertis let out a roar of pain before he thrashed in the black dragon's jaws and clawed with his hind legs at the dragon's side, trying to get free.

I widened my eyes and gave a frustrated growl. I glanced around at the shadows on the walls before I motioned with my eyes towards the unknown dragon. They creeped down to the floor and over to them before snatching the dragon up and away from Ertis- slipping around his dark scales and making it hard to tell where the shadows began and ended with him. I heard a small growl before a bluish thing flung out from the shadows at me and landed on my face with another growl at the land. I yelled and hard gold clatter like the shadows slipped up and dropped the dragon. I grabbed at the little one on me and screamed out in pain as she scratched at my face and spit something at my eyes- making everything go dark. My eyes stung like hell, and I fell over in fear. I wasn't expecting that thing either! I felt the little dragon leave my face. I reached around for it around the gold before something got my wrist and pain sprouted through my body- paralyzing me. "Ertis!" I begged. I could feel myself slipping away. Was this death? Am I about to die? Is this how I die? I'm not going to be able to help Paris become a true ruler. I heard Ertis give out a loud roar, making my ears hurt as everything started to fade from my consciousness.

I felt something nudge me before a sharp growl reached my ears. "Divya, do you think we should eat it before it wakes?" I heard a loud grumbling voice say- not the voice that belonged to my Ertis. "It belonged to that old timer."

"It's just a vampire. What do I care what you do?" I heard a girl's soft voice say. "If an elder kept it around, maybe it's useful." I twitched my fingers a little and wiggled my toes before letting out a shaky breath, testing my muscles to see how bad of a shape I'm in. I opened my eyes to find everything was a bit blurry. My vision is better. I blinked a few times to see it clearing up.

"Ertis?!" I called out and forced myself to sit up. I felt a stinging sensation run through my body. I heard a sharp growl before I was knocked back down by a black claw, holding me down in the gold.

"Quiet," he hissed at me. "This is a new rule, and you'll accept it or else!" I looked towards the claw and growled a little. He killed him. He killed Ertis. My red dragon. I've homed that dragon for centuries. I looked past the claw and at the black dragon holding me down.

"YOU'RE A MURDERER!" I hissed out through my teeth. His gold eyes looked down at me before he growled and leaned his face down to mine.

"He was getting too old to protect this hoard. I did you and him both a favor and put him out of his misery," he hissed at me then pushed down on my chest a little before he let up and moved away from me. "An old dragon becomes useless after a certain age. It was time someone else took his place." He swept his tail towards me but stopped short and walked over to the little blue dragon that had gotten me earlier then picked her up in his jaws. He laid down then placed her on top of his paws and licked her head, starting to clean her. She watched me with narrow eyes before looking away and purred.

"Where's my cut of this, Baylorik? I want to get my nest I've always dreamed of and find a sweet mate to take care of me." I glared them down and tried to get up again, holding back my urges to keep down and let the rest of whatever was in my system leave. I eyed down the treasure hoard- finding my precious red dragon's corpse.

"Ertis," I whispered and walked up to his body. I sat down next to it and pulled his head into my arms. I brushed tears off my cheeks with my sleeve and pressed my head against his. "Come back," I begged him softly. I felt Baylorik watching me before he looked down at Divya.

"Do you really want that? That's a silly thought. A mate would steal your treasure from you and eat you," he purred to her in amusement. "Oh well, if you want a cut so you can go, then here," he told her then gave her a gem and a few gold coins. "You can start with that."

"Finally. Enjoy your new hoard, Baylorik." I heard her voice disappear from the room. I glanced Ertis's body over before digging my feet into the gold and hugged him tighter. How could he have let that youngster beat him? His scales were the prettiest I ever saw, and he spoke to me so kindly and full of wisdom. He was my dragon that protected my castle for a home and fish. I glanced towards Baylorik.

"Get out of my castle," I hissed at him. "You're not welcomed here." He looked towards me and puffed smoke my way before he sat up and picked me up between his jaws and then set me down by the door and pushed me out.

"Get out of my treasure hoard," he hissed back at me. "You're lucky I'm not killing you today." He glared me down before he looked over at Ertis and moved over to him, starting to drag him out of the treasure hoard by his neck. He took care to make sure none of the gold fell out of the room then started to drag him down the hall towards the front doors of the castle to get rid of him. I glared him down in anger and grabbed one of the torches lighting on the wall and went after him with it- placing it down on his tail and hissed.

"THIS IS MY CASTLE!" I yelled at him. He snarled and dropped Ertis quickly before he turned on me and slammed me into a wall with his claws, glaring me down.

"You're a small, pint sized vampire," he growled at me. "Get over it. Everyone dies at some point in their lives. Even your kind doesn't live forever! Your kind dies bloody ends. Do you get angry when your enemy dies a bloody death?" He snarled again before he let me go. "He was going to die on you soon. He was old and sick, and his fire was trying to burn him inside out. If you were a dragon, you would've smelled it on him." He looked back at Ertis before he grabbed him by his throat again between his jaws and went back to dragging him away. I teared up as I watched him.

"You murdered him," I hissed out softly. I could have killed him peacefully- but he killed him without mercy. "I'M NOT LETTING YOU LIVE IN MY CASTLE!" I yelled at him. I'll send for dragon killers and have them kill him. "He meant more to me than just a dragon in my gold coins." He paused before he looked back at me then studied me for a minute. He watched me then dragged Ertis outside where I heard him roar and take off flying with my Ertis.

After about an hour, he came back inside and looked at me before he headed for the dragon hoard and went in quickly. His claws were covered in dirt like he had been digging. I heard the coins rattle as he laid down in it then loud purrs came from the room just like the first time Ertis went in there and laid in my gold. I growled in irritation.

"Get out of my gold!" I yelled at him. "You're not welcomed to it!" I hissed and went in there after him. I pointed towards the door with a stern finger. "Get out!" He looked at me as he licked his claws then narrowed his eyes before he pushed me out and puffed smoke my way.

"No," he hissed at me. "Get out before I change my mind about eating you." I growled at him before I slammed the doors shut in his face and locked them up- the first time they've been locked in ages. I started off down the hall then.

"ROT IN THERE!" I yelled over my shoulder. "I'll never let you come back out." I heard a loud roar then before the door was busted down, and I heard him coming for me with a snarl. I glanced over my shoulder before I used the shadows to take me to my throne room. I sat down on my throne and threw my legs over the arm of the chair and let out a small growl. I should take all my gold and give it away. Then I wouldn't have a pest problem. After a few minutes, I saw him get the door open, and he started for me but shifted, changing into a human form. His gold eyes looked up at me as he stood before me proudly. He looked me over then looked me in the eyes, narrowing his as he glared at me.

"Why're you not where I locked you up?" I asked him coldly. "You want it, rot in it." He frowned before he walked up and sat down in front of my throne, leaning his back against the arm of it before he stretched out. He leaned over and sniffed my hand before he looked up at me, and his eyes softened.

"You liked him, didn't you? You liked that old dragon, and he liked you too otherwise he would've eaten you." He leaned his head against my hand slightly then nuzzled it lightly before he pulled away. "I won't kill you in respect for him." He looked away from me then and out across the room curiously. I wrinkled up my nose and grabbed his neck quickly, giving it a squeeze. I made him come closer to me- facing me entirely. I brought my other hand to him and smacked his face hard- backhanding him.

"This is my home," I hissed out and exposed my fangs. "Not yours. It was his hoard." I shoved him backwards then, letting him go to stumble. I glanced down into my lap. "He's been with me forever. I was wanting him to die an old dragon here." He yelped and gave a soft whimper on the ground as he rubbed his cheek with a pained look then looked up at me. He started to growl but quickly silenced himself and laid on the ground, watching me as he held his cheek where I had smacked him. I curled up in my throne then and clung to a gold blanket. "Go back to your hell rotten room and melt away in the gold. I don't care what you do but stay out of my sight." He got to his feet then walked out of the room, leaving me alone.

~Time Skip~

I heard footsteps approaching me before I caught the fresh scent of fish. Baylorik placed five fish in my lap then purred as he sat down in front of me and looked up at me, staying quiet and still. I looked down at the fish before I pushed them out of my lap and gave him a disgusted look. "I drink human blood. I'm a vampire." He frowned at me then before he took the fish and got to his feet.

"Then I'll bring you a human," he grumbled and started to eat the fish as he walked towards the doors.

"I don't need to be fed. I can take care of myself," I hissed out at him before I got to my feet and started for the door to get out of my throne room. "My servants feed me." He snatched my arm then as I went to pass him and yanked me to him before he looked me in the eyes then narrowed them and shoved me away.

"Fine, I don't care," he hissed and stormed out of the room with his fish. "Cry all you want. Don't come to me after I've attempted to appease you. If you're not going to accept my offers or my fish, then you can just despair." He slammed the door behind him then in anger, and I heard him transform back, walking away from the door back to the treasure room. I walked out of my room and looked down the hall at him.

"I'LL NEVER GO TO YOU!" I yelled at him in anger. I balled my fists up and turned away from him. I started for my bedroom so I can hide away from him in a safer place. "Just stay away from me," I cried out and rubbed at my eyes. I suddenly was picked up into his jaws, and he started to carry me towards the front doors gently, holding me up from the ground without hurting me. He got me outside quickly then took off into the sky, flying a little way from the castle before he landed by a small brook shaded in by large trees. He took me over to a large mound of dirt and sat me down lightly by it before he looked at the dirt then up into the trees, watching birds flying around. He purred and playfully nipped near one, watching as it chirped and took off flying from him. "Is this what you did with him?" I asked and closed my eyes tightly. I gripped at my pants and shook my head. "Paris would have loved to meet him," I mumbled. He looked down at me before he laid by my side and looked at the mound.

"Who is Paris?" He asked me softly, tucking his wings in close to him.

"He's a vampire prince coming to meet me. He's going to ask me for help. He wants to change vampire society's laws. He's starting a war. He needs me. We're going to be very close in the future. We're going to be almost like family." He gave me a curious look then.

"Is that so? Can you see the future, or is that what you want to happen?" He asked and laid his head down near me.

"The futures that are fixed... but I can't see everything. Somethings are blurry, and some things can be changed- I didn't see you coming. It's because you came here out of last second decisions. Like you caught his scent and it lured you in because you knew he'd be an easy target." I sighed and started back for the castle. "I know the dragons won't stay on earth forever. They'll grow to hate it and leave to their own realm." He watched me before he got to his feet and followed me.

"We'll return to our own realm?" He asked softly then scooped me up into his jaws and placed me down on his back, looking at me.

"Yes. You will. It'll be to protect your species... but you'll still have hard times with egg robbers-" I shook my head and looked away. "The future is pretty. I'm going to be with Paris until he breathes in his last breath here on Earth." He laughed a little and watched me in fascination before he took off into the sky and took me back to my castle. He went inside quickly and went to the treasure hoard with me before he looked at the gold and purred, laying down and then pulled me from his back and placed me up against his warm stomach. He rubbed his head in the gold and purred happily before he looked at me.

"Tell me more," he said and watched me as he started to nudge some of the gold out of the way and made a nest for himself and kept me in it with him. "Why is Paris trying to change your laws?"

"Paris has a soulmate named Richard. Together, they're worth more. Vampires of today don't approve of this kind of relationship. They're both male princes- first born. They were in line to be kings. Paris is from France while Richard is from Transylvania. They want to make the world better for the future generations, so they can choose to love themselves- but also let them know more. Vampires of today hide secrets about our kind. Paris believes vampires should have rights to these secrets, so they're going into war against their parents. They'll win and they'll win more than they asked for... but that's just one future. With my help, I can align it to where they do win and get what they ask for. I'll align events of Paris's life and see to it he gets a life worth living." He tilted his head and watched me.

"What do you mean by they'll get more than they asked for?"

"Well.... Richard will one day have to pay for what's going to happen to him in the war. He'll lose himself, and when he does... Paris will try to save him, but he won't know until it's too late- when he breaks Paris. But Paris will be in good hands.... He's going to find someone special to him and that person will pick up the broken pieces and mend his wounds. Paris and Richard will find each other in a place called America... where they'll have their first child and make a promise. No matter what, they're on each other's side. It's a cute story, really. It's my favorite of all that'll come on this planet." I rubbed at my cheek as I thought over their future, I planned to help map out for them. "They'll get more than they ask for now, you see?" I asked him. He nodded then purred.

"They sound interesting," he told me then nuzzled his head against the gold before he closed his eyes in delight. "I want to see it~" He looked towards me then before he licked my cheek gently. I narrowed my eyes and whipped off my face. I started for the door in disgust. Now I need a long and hot bath. How disgusting. He just killed my pretty red dragon with those jaws. He nipped the back of my shirt and dragged me down into the nest before he curled up with me and rubbed his head against the gold with a soft moan. Wh-what the hell! I growled and got back to my feet, going for the door again.

"Goodnight," I told him quickly. There that should make him happy. He nipped the back of my shirt again and tugged me down into his nest with a purr, watching me this time instead of messing with the gold. "I told you goodnight," I grumbled and got back to my feet. I gave him a firm look before heading for the doors. "I'm taking a bath and going to sleep. I can only imagine you have no idea what the meaning of that is. If you're living here, I'll make the maids introduce you to a bath once a week."

"Bath?" He asked me curiously then looked me over. "Why?" He sniffed me then before I could get away and went to nip at my shirt again.

"I want one," I told him and dodged his mouth. I ran for it then- feeling my heart race to beat him and get out. He managed to nip my shirt again and tugged me down into the nest with a purr. I groaned as I hit the gold coins again. I looked towards him in irritation before I used the shadows to take me to my bedroom. I walked up to the attached bathroom and opened the doors wide open. I walked in to find a maid cleaning the floors. She hit my feet with the mob.

"MASTER Laurence!" She scolded me. "Get off my wet floors-"

"I'm sorry," I told her quickly. I got off the floor and watched her mop it. "I was hoping for a bath," I told her.

"You don't even know how to dress yourself let alone take a bath on your own, Master Laurence. I see you were planning to attempt it on your own again. Weren't you? I'll run you a hot bath and get you cleaned up. Right after I get this floor sparkling." I gave her an annoyed look but nodded. I'm not helpless... just because I'm little doesn't mean anything. I looked at my appearance from the bathroom mirror- looking over my boyish body. I blushed and glanced away. Maids know me so well that they push me around like a little boy. "It is about your bath time though. You know~ A butler might be coming to get a warm bath running for you as we speak," she told me thoughtfully. "So, I won't have to stick around- go look out into the hall to see if one is coming."

"No way," I blushed a deep shade of red. I might get caught by that dragon again. I heard a roar from the treasure room from him being upset at trying to find me. I felt a butler scoop me up then from behind before he looked towards the maid.

"When do you think the floor will be done for me to cross it to the tub?" He asked her as he held me like a small child.

"Hmmm.... If you grab a fan and hit it to help~ Soon." She told him and gave me a sweet look. "Awe, Master Laurence! You look so cute like that." I blushed and felt my breath catch. That's so not funny. The butler held me closer then and laughed.

"Yeah, our little master is cute, isn't he?" He asked the maid then lightly poked my nose. "So cute~"

"That's not funny. I'm so older than you." I crossed my arms and gave him a small frown. "Could I just have my bath? I had a disgusting dragon licking me. That bastard- I don't know who he thinks he is." I shook my head and looked at the maid. "Finish the floors after my bath," I urged. She sighed but nodded and got to her feet.

"I'll just redo the whole thing," she grumbled and left the bathroom to give way for us. The butler gave me a curious look before he carried me in and sat me down on the edge of the tub, starting to pump hot water for me before he looked over and then began to undress me.

"Not in a good mood today, are you?" He asked me softly. "I heard a rumor... that Ertis was killed by a dragon. Is that what you meant by disgusting dragon?"

"Yes. He killed Ertis and now he has the- the nerve to nest in my castle. Don't have the servants feed him. I want no part in keeping him healthy." I let out a small sigh and looked down at the cobblestoned floor. I glanced towards my butler with slight interest. "Where's your son Baleen? He's usually under our feet when he knows you're coming to serve me." I heard something knock over in my bedroom then before a cute little boy ran up to us with a pile of my clothes.

"Daddy! I helped out today. Here's all his clothes I want him to wear for bed." He held them up with his tiny hands and giggled as a sock fell into the floor. There he was, Baleen. I gave him a soft look and laughed a little. He lowered the clothes to expose his gorgeous multi-colored eyes. One was a sepia brown while the other was a lilac purple. His hair was a dark brown peppered with blonde highlights. Baleen- was my head butler's son. He's supposed to take his spot and he was very excited about his purpose in life.

"You're a little late," I teased Baleen and tapped my wrist. His father laughed then before he moved me into the tub full of warm water.

"He's going to make a fine head butler for you when he's old enough to take my place," he told me then looked down at his son. "Do you want to help bathe our master tonight?" He asked and then took the clothes from him, placing it on a nearby table. He held a cloth out to his son then. "I'm sure he won't mind~" Baleen grabbed the cloth before looking at me and blushed a bright red before he squealed in delight and looked me over.

"Can I help bathe you tonight, Mr. Immortal Young Master?" He asked me. I sat up in the tub and watched him.

"I'm older than you," I reminded.

"Until I get bigger than you!" He pointed a finger at me and giggled before he dunked the cloth into the water to get it wet and pressed me back to make me relax. I obeyed his tiny fingers as I watched him rub the wet cloth against my face. His father put a hand over his mouth to hide his growing smile and silent laughter from me as he watched the two of us. He leaned down and got another cloth and started to help his son clean me with soap. He laughed softly at us and rubbed my arm. I leaned in to smell the soap, catching the scent of honey and purred with amusement. My servants try so hard to please me.

"That's interesting. I hope bees don't eat me up," I told them. I felt Baleen run his rag down to my neck, cleaning my face. His eyes ran over my skin as he mapped out his neck movements. I glanced at his father- almost not minding his laugher at this point. Baleen was the cutest servant I ever saw... and I want to cherish these moments with him forever.

"I'm sure they won't eat you up," his father told me then looked down at his son, checking on him before he washed my chest. "Baleen, do you want to dress your young master too?" He teased his son, looking towards him.

"Yes. Can I? Can I! I wanna dress him tonight. Teach me, daddy, how to do it," Baleen said in excitement and jumped a little before leaning over and got my other arm to wash. "I wanna put on his cute night clothes I picked out, and can I help put him to sleep too? I want to tuck him in." I glanced them over before I ducked down into the hot water to get my hair wet and stayed under, admitting the warmth the water was bringing me. I slipped back out and let out a satisfied sigh.

"What? Are you going to crawl into bed with the young master too?" His father teased him then laughed.

"No. I want to sleep with you and mommy tonight." He said and looked at me. "My master is my master. Not someone to sleep with. I know my place." He gave me a sweet look. "I'm going to be just like my daddy and be the best butler for you, young master." His father gave him a proud look before he finished cleaning me up then pulled me out and wrapped me in a towel. He began to dry me off and looked at Baleen.

"We'll ask mommy if you can sleep with us," he told him softly then looked back towards me before he took the towel away and grabbed the clothes, looking over his son's pick. I looked them over as well- seeing he had picked out a delicate silk pair of night clothes. There was hand sewn wolf and moon features on it. It was gifted to me on my birthday by a maid. She made this for me. The design was black while the silky background was a dark blue like the night sky. The moon was white. She worked hard on it for me specifically. I usually got handcrafted things from my servants. Things of which I cherished. I awed over what he had picked for me. Under it was my pair of skintight white thermal clothing. It's what would keep my heat in- what little I produce alone that is. I wasn't great at staying warm alone. I've had several times in harsh winters where I lost my feet because of it and had to grow them back. His father laughed softly then looked at Baleen. "Here, get his thermal on," he told him and handed him the thermal clothing, watching his son closely. Baleen reached up to start with my shirt and tried to put it over my head for me. I leaned down for him so he could get it. He balled up the arms for each and pushed my arms into them before carefully sliding the rest down my body. He looked down and rolled up the pants and helped me step into them before pulling them up on me.

"All done," Baleen told his father before reaching out for the socks he grabbed just for me and lead me over to a chair. He pushed me down into it before going to put my socks on my feet. I watched him as he paused and looked my toenails over. He looked towards my daddy and giggled. "We should cut his nails before putting him to bed, daddy." He looked at me. His father raised an eyebrow then walked over, inspecting my toenails before he nodded and ruffled Baleen's head.

"Good call, sweetie," he purred to him then went for the nail clippers and nudged Baleen aside before he knelt down and started to take care of my nails, being careful not to cut my skin. I could hear a maid working in my bedroom then- probably heating my bed for me and cleaning up whatever mess Baleen made when he was hurrying to get to the bathroom to see me.

"Thanks daddy!" Baleen said and gave a confident smile. He grabbed a nail filer for his dad as well- sitting it down by us. He looked around for anything else he thought would be useful before placing his eyes back on what his father was doing. I could feel my eyes getting heavy from how comforting it's been for me in the past minutes. I let out a yawn and rubbed at one of my eyes. I might be able to forgive that dragon downstairs if he proves he's a good replacement for my precious red dragon. He's not red... but he'll do. I suppose a young dragon in the war would be more useful than an old one. Plus, this means Ertis is at peace now. If the fire in him was truly eating him alive... he's not in any pain wherever he's gone to. I teared up a little. Ertis. He was like a family member to me, as all my servants are- special in their own ways.

"I want us to hold a sort of... celebration tomorrow. For Ertis. He's at rest. He wouldn't want us to be full of sorrow. So, let's hold a small celebration for him. He's gone somewhere off this plane of existence. He's at peace. Let the dragon know- the one in my treasure room- that he can stay if he becomes worthy to be my castle's protector. You can let him know tonight of my decision. He can show me after the celebration." My butler nodded then grabbed the nail file, starting to file my toenails down.

"I will inform him personally of your decision, young master. I'll have the servants set up a celebration for Ertis tomorrow morning. Perhaps it will be a good break for the servants to help you celebrate Ertis's life. I know Baleen will be happy with helping you celebrate. He adores you enough," he told me then looked at his son and smirked. "Don't you, my cute little boy? You're going to serve our young master so well when you're older. You'll be worthy of carrying my name and my title as head butler."

"I'll help. Of course, I will." Baleen giggled as he watched me with admiration. He looked my clothes over before helping me put on my silk pajamas while his father continued to work on my nails. His father grabbed my hands after a few minutes and started to work on those before he finished up and pulled away then scooped me up into his arms. Baleen managed to slip my socks onto my feet while in the motion of his father picking me up. He took me into my bedroom then laid me down in my bed and looked at Baleen, picking him up so he could pull the covers over me. A maid stood by- poking around a fire. She gave me a smile before bowing politely.

"Goodnight Master Laurence," she called sweetly to me. She left quickly. Baleen brought the covers up for me and patted them around my body to tuck me in. I could feel the bed warmer heating up my bed near the end of the bed. I gave them a smile and reached up towards Baleen, giving his hand a small squeeze.

"Goodnight," I purred out. His father gave me a smile before he pulled his son away.

"Get some rest, young master," he told me then looked down at Baleen before he kissed his son's head and carried him off out of the room, blowing out the candles as he went. The darkness enveloped around me, sending me to a swift sleep in the night.
