Chapter 1 - Sneaky bugger

Jawsh Black was currently laying on the floor.

"Are you sure you heard something." A voice entered his ear.

"....."

"Must have been your ears ringing."

the sound of footsteps reaching towards his general vicinity sped up his heartbeat.

"....."

"See there's nothing here you were worrying for nothing let's go" the voice continued.

"We can't mess this one up Delzi, this stuff is very important." another voice trailed off into the distance as both of these guys were getting far from Josh.

Jawsh heaved, crawling to one of the black boxes in the cargo deck, he inserted a thumb long stick drive in the drive slot on the backside of the server box.

The drive inserted itself completely into the slot such that no one would catch it as it was a fraction of a millimeter thick and other input drives or cables could easily slide on it to connect to the server box.

Jawsh crawled back out of the storage room, stood up, and started sweeping the floor.

While sweeping the floor he made his way towards the trash managing node where he threw away his disguise of a janitor and changed into his normal clothing and walked out the other way.

This was Salvator, a Space station working as an outpost for a Space Colony.

Jawsh couldn't help but glance at the massive wheel-shaped space colony almost the size of a planet.

In this day and age, humans had conquered the space they had spread across hundreds of planets and built massive space colonies, space stations, and space crafts could be seen flying everywhere in the galaxy.

But the human race was idle there was just nothing left for them to do machines and AI had taken over the production jobs away from them.

All the humans were left with was Art and Games. But you could not play a game till you died you would be bored with it.

The scientist of the world gathered to create a second life for the humans the most advanced VRMMORPG to ever exist it.

IMPERIUM

It was a means to rejuvenate the life of humans all across the galaxy.

A sense of adventure is what it promised.

The black boxes in the most protected cargo hold of this space station were meant not meant to be here.

It was a well-devised plan hatched by Jawsh to make sure he came in contact with one of these server boxes.

The servers were supposed to be store backup information for the players on the space colony in the line of sight of Jawsh.

Jawsh had hacked into the military cargo ship carrying these servers to show a malfunction in their system which caused them to make a pitstop at this space station allowing him a chance to set up one of his inventions the sneaky bugger to be stuck into one of these boxes.

Sneaky bugger this was what Josh had named the slim and thumb long hack tool, it would allow him a few seconds access into the mainframe of the Imperium.

It would allow him to create a minute backdoor into the main server of the Imperium and after the deed was done he could remotely command the sneaky bugger to melt itself in a pool of gunk that anyone would assume was the burned carbon or rubber filament left behind.

Jawsh hoped to utilize this 1 minute to get some classified information out of the game database and use it for his own benefit.

Jawsh was currently messing with the data of Space Station washing the clips of him entering & exiting the cargo hold.

"All that is now left to do is wait," said Jawsh looking at the cargo ship make its way towards the space colony.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jawsh was currently in front of his work station, he was a software engineer that was employed on this Space Station to manage data.

"Hey Jawsh, do you wanna grab a bite." Jawsh looked up from his screen to see one of his workmates.

"Not now Mathew, go on without me, I will need a minute to wrap this up."

"Ok"

Jawsh looked at his screen intently he needed to be super focused he would only get a time frame of 1min or 30 secs.

"It's on." Jawsh's fingers moved at a lightning speed on the holographic keyboard int he air.

"Shit, only 10 seconds looks like I underestimated this piece of work." Jawsh quickly started copying the data from the main server of the Imperium.

He only had a time frame of 10 seconds to get as much data as he could and erase his marks on the logs in the Imperium.

He copied as much data he could in a frame of 5seconds.

Then he spent the next 4 seconds to erase the records of his tampering and unethical access into Imperium.

"The last second, I gotta destroy the bugger."

On the well-protected building in the space colony, one of the black boxes glowed for a half a second. As a spark was generated on its back end drive port, the sneaky bugger had destroyed itself successfully.

"Phew, all done." Jawsh calmed his nerves after the intense session of hacking into the most advanced piece of technology on the whole galaxy.

"At least I got some of the contents," Jawsh said looking at the data he had nabbed from the main server of Imperium.

"I should study these afterward," Jawsh muttered as he cracked his fingers and shut his system putting the precious thumb drive in his safe pocket.

Jawsh made his way towards the mess of the space station.

"Hey guys," Jawsh said while placing his meal on the table.

"Did you hear Henry has purchased the ultra game capsule to play Imperium."

"Hehe, my dad gifted it to me for my birthday." Henry smiled.

"Ugh, Henry I will not forgive you if you don't power level me after I get mine," Matthew grumbled.

"Hmm, I thought you guys all bought one," Jawsh questioned.

"Yeah bro, but ours is way back on the list of deliveries." A fatso sitting across Jawsh said.

"Ohh, I will get mine on the first day of release," Jawsh commented remembering how he had changed the delivery schedules for the cargo ship coming from the Space colony.

"Damn you are lucky Jawsh." Mathew patted Jawsh on his back almost causing him to throw the food out of his mouth.

"Control yourself Mate," Henry said to Mathew.

"Ah, I'm sorry Jawsh I didn't mean to hit you so hard."

"It's Ok," Jawsh said after taking a big gulp of water.

Jawsh and his buddies finished their meals and returned to their work stations.

Between the tapping of the holographic keyboards and the eye tracker helping him flip through the various data documentations on the space station,

Jawsh looked at the mirror by his desk, reminding him of his different appearance from the rest of the resident on this station, his reddish tint of skin was what the humans considered a failed experiment. Certain religious groups in the galaxy equated them to the devils and beings of hell.

Jawsh was born this way, some centuries ago the Federal Governmental of that time had passed a resolution that allowed the human genome to be altered such that the humans would easily adapt to new rougher environments thus saving the cost to change the whole ecosystems of native planets to suit human standards.

Jawsh was a product of such genome changes in the normal human DNA, he was what the normal humans called a Martian, it was named so after the planet Mars back in the central district of the Human civilization, the Earth and the Mars along with the Venus were the holy trinities of planets only the human elite could ever dream of laying their foot on these land, it was where the humans had evolved and flourished and then gone on to start their journey into the galaxy.

Though the discrimination the other hybrid humans faced was still less compared to the one suffered by certain alien species and the so-called Martian variant of humans. It was coincidentally due to the aggressive nature of the Martian humans, they tended to get angry and lose their cool a lot.

Jawsh averted his eyes from the mirror and started to concentrate back at his job, thinking he would make sure the next space station to be outfitted by the new brain wave operator system will be his station so that he does not have to move his fingers over the air which he thought was more tiring than using the ancient keyboards.
