After collecting himself and having a quick break Kazuma was told to wait in a waiting room. he sat on a black leather chair in this small room that had white walls and a grey carpet. In front of him was a white desk with a single glass of water on it and another black leather chair behind it. It looked like a cross between an office and a police interrogation room. He waited for a few minutes until Victoria came strutting in. She calmly sat down and adjusted her glasses. Kazuma was still in disbelief. Kira's phone had been completely shattered, destroyed, and now it was perfectly fine. He also saw himself, a past version of himself. This was insane but it was also brilliant. If they actually did this right then they could do wonderful things like prevent wars, stop the Holocaust from happening, prevent 9.11.
"Now! it's about time I explained why you are here" said Victoria loudly. Kazuma was startled by this but was instantly intrigued. "We have tested weather we can change the past in minor ways, but now we need to aim bigger, saving actual lives" she said in an ambitious tone. Kazuma was even more intrigued now, he leaned with excitement on the edge of his seat as if watching the final episode of an action packed thriller. "We wanted to save someone's life using this creation and so we began looking through cases from perhaps 10 to 15 years ago when we stumbled upon this..." "Victoria then pulled a file from beneath the desk. It was Kiah's death report. "We wanted something simple, yet tragic. It also needed to be closed, hence why we were looking at cases from so long ago. When we looked into this specific case we found that 'Kazuma Floren' was the only witness, and here you are" Victoria seemed nervous yet excited about this experiment. "So, if you fill out this consent form we will begin tomorrow, your friend could be saved"
"ok I'll do it" replied Kazuma as he grabbed the consent form and swiftly filled it out without a second thought until he noticed a sentence. 'Please note that during this experiment, everything that has happened in your life since the event to be changed could be completely erased and re written.' But even after reading that Kazuma didn't much care, his life wasn't exactly one of luxury. "Alright" said Victoria, "Come here at 9:00 tomorrow morning ok?"
"ok" said Kazuma before saying his good-byes and returning home.
On the way back to his apartment he passed by the town square where he was suddenly confronted by a woman. She power walked over to him and firmly grabbed his wrist. "Excuse me, who the hell are you? let me go!" Kazuma demanded. The woman seemed slightly smaller than him and was wearing a black hooded coat that covered her eyes. "Don't do it!" she begged in a demanding yet pleading voice as her grip tightened. "Just go home, go to sleep and forget everything you saw here today!" Kazuma was frightened. It was 9:00 so the sky was pitch black, and this woman had just emerged from the shadows. "Just who are you?!" Kazuma shouted. Who was she? was she someone who butterfly systems had scrude over? was it all a scam? and even so how did she know that Kazuma was involved? even so, it was a risk Kazuma was willing to take, to see his friends again and finally be rid of this terrible guilt. "Please listen to me!" she pleaded. Kazuma finally managed to get his hand free and as soon as he did he began to speed walk away. "Please! Everything you've ever known and ever loved will be gone and time it's self will break!" he could hear her shouting complete nonsense from afar. But Kazuma just went back to his apartment as quickly as he could and went to sleep.
He woke up the next morning to the sound of his phone ringing. It seemed he'd had another nightmare that night since once again he was sweating. When he answered a woman was on the other end. "Hey it's Kira, just checking if you're still up for today?"
"Yes 12:00, I've just got something to do this morning so I might be a little bit late" replied Kazuma. "Ok, see you soon."
Kazuma got up, put on some casual clothes, attempted to comb his thick, messy grey hair and made his way to Butterfly systems.
When he got there Victoria greeted him and took him to the machine. Everyone seemed to be in anticipation. Kazuma was extremely nervous but if it meant he could save Kiah, and possibly Jax, everything he is risking would be worth it. He was put inside the machine, it was finally time. All sorts of things were rushing through his head, but the one question that kept flashing in his mind was 'will it work?' As he lay there he heard the scientists voice slowly fade away. "3... 2.....1"
It was so bright, as his eyes adjusted he realised he was in his apartment. But he told Zack the date: 10th of April 2011, he can't have got it wrong. As he sat up his phone began to ring. Was it Kira again? It can't have gone back to this morning. Kazuma answered the phone. "Hi, just checking if we're still on for today?" she said in a cheerful voice. "Yep, I'll be there at 12:00 like we said Kira" said Kazuma. "Ha ha, who's Kira? it's me Kiah remember? Your girlfriend..."
