Connor dragged Kazuma outside and took him to an old garage. It was small and looked old from the outside but upon entering Kazuma was met with an ocean of electronics, multiple computer screens and what looked to be a detective crime board with images of white hooded men and what looked to be scientists. "They call themselves the white-hoods" said Connor. "I've been following their movements for a few weeks now, it seems they appeared merely a day after the butterfly systems explosion and ever since they appeared they have been targeting and murdering everyone who was in volved in the butterfly project, scientists, software developers and business men" he said rubbing his chin and glancing over at Kazuma.
Kazuma had many questions but before he could ask them Connor turned to him. "So far they have killed around 15 of the people who were involved and everyone they've killed or stalked was involved in the butterfly project, that is everyone except you" Connor said with a confused look on his face. "You didn't work in their building, you didn't have ties with anyone there, hell, you were never even seen near the place, yet these people want you dead, and I want to know why" he said. Kazuma sighed, he couldn't tell Connor what was going on but he could get answers from him, but first he needed to form a bond with Connor, he seemed like an intelligent guy and had means to protect him from these self proclaimed 'white-hoods'.
"Something is odd about the butterfly systems explosion" continued Connor. "When we first met I told you there were no casualties, but there are disappearances" he said, moving over to one of his computer screens. On it was a collection of scientists and others who worked on the project and most of them seemed familiar to Kazuma, they were definitely workers for butterfly systems, but what Connor said shook Kazuma to the core. "These people are all listed as workers for the project but they are nowhere to be found, upon asking family members and relatives they never existed, they have no memory of them, not even their colleges have any memory of them" Connor explained. One of the people on the list was Zack. Kazuma must have been the only person in the world who had any memory of those people. But how could they have no memory of them? This was extremely worrying.
Kazuma glanced over the list once again to see that Victoria wasn't on there which meant she was still alive. Now he had to get in contact with her. Kazuma decided that he needed to find Victoria but first he needed to become friends with Connor in order to get as much information out of him as possible. "Wait a moment, this all seems a little shady, have you been asked to look into this?" asked Kazuma curiously. This caused Connor to chuckle. "Well I have taken the case higher but my boss didn't approve of it and thought I was just looking for a promotion. Anyway, I'm working as a security officer for the butterfly systems wreckage, to be quite honest I couldn't be in a better position" he replied smiling.
Kazuma decided to go home and think on his situation and what to do next. Sakura's words were rushing through his head, there had to be something he could do. Just then something caught his attention. Out of the corner of his eye Kazuma saw what looked to be a ghostly figure watching him from the shadows. It was probably nothing but it served as a reminder to Kazuma that he was a hunted man and he would have to be careful from here on out, and he had a feeling that the more he dug into this the more dangerous his new life would become.
