Kazuma just kept running. His mind was filled with questions, but there was no time to think. Tis wasn't a random attack, this man set out to kill Kazuma specifically. He needed to get help from somewhere, but where? That's when he realised: Butterfly systems, they could help him, at the very least Victoria would lend him an ear, or at least explain what the hell was going on. The hooded man was catching up to him. Kazuma's heartbeat was like a loud, obnoxious drum in his head. He heard a gunshot but he knew it hadn't hit him. He ran through the park. He was attempting to collect himself and think logically. He couldn't return to his apartment because then the mysterious killer would know where he lives. Kazuma decided that he had to go to Butterfly systems now!
He began retracing his steps. Turn a corner, another corner, down the street, down the back alley, turn the corner and... nothing. In place of the Butterfly systems building was a huge crater in
the ground with police surrounding it. At least he was safe with police around, but now Kazuma was completely alone with no one who would actually believe him.
It was a mess. All that was left of the building was mountains or rubble and hunks of metal along with the half a mile long crater. To think of the amount of people who must have died in the event that caused this, thought Kazuma.
"Hey, excuse me sir, it's dangerous here" Kazuma heard the voice of a man. He looked to see a significantly short police officer with dark blue spiky hair adjusting his police hat. "Sorry, but what happened here?" asked Kazuma, cautiously glancing behind him to see that the hooded man had disappeared. "You really don't know?" asked the police officer. "sigh, well an organisation was conducting secret experiments without the governments approval, supposedly they were building a time machine, but before any tests could be run the whole thing blew up and took the entire building with it" he said adjusting his tie. "I'm just here to make sure that no one gets hurt by venturing into the wreckage" the office said. The officer gave Kazuma a strange, concerned look before telling him to turn around and move away.
Kazuma was frightened beyond belief. Before going he turned around and asked "can I see a list of the dead?" He only wanted to check if Victoria was ok. "Nope, there is no list of the dead, no casualties" replied the office. Kazuma froze with confusion and stared at the wreckage. A huge disaster like this and no one died? "How is that possible?" said Kazuma in disbelief. The officer chuckled. "That's what I'm trying to find out" he said.
Kazuma needed to think. There must be someone who could help him, it would be difficult to find Victoria or even Zack, that is if they even remembered him. Wait. There was someone who seemed pretty clued up in this situation. Someone who seemed to anticipate these events. The woman who approached him the night before he returned to Butterfly systems. If Kazuma could find her he might be able to get answers as to what is going on.
