Jax awoke from his slumber to see that rain was falling heavily outside. "ugh those idiots are going to be soaking" he chuckled to himself before getting his coat and going out into the cold and wet to accompany the two home. In the distance he saw Kazuma running. "Hey Kazuma!" Jax shouted. Kazuma eventually reached Jax but seemed to be in a fit of absolute terror and shock. "Hey what's going on? where is Kiah?" asked Jax trying to make eye contact with Kazuma. "sh-she she's g-gone." Kazuma was hysterically crying with more years down his face than rain. He seemed absolutely traumatized. Kiah really was... dead.
The police were called and Kiah was confirmed to have died from being hit by a train and her body was covered and taken away. Kazuma was sat with an officer blankly staring at the ground as the female police officer attempted to ask him some questions. Jax was also being questioned by another officer but he just kept repeatedly punching the wall and shouting "it's not fair! it's not fair!" The police knocked on Kiah's house door and told her mother what had happened. All of a sudden Kazuma heard a scream. "No! my poor baby!" she cried fighting off police and rushing towards the ambulance. The lady who worked at the café was there too, in tears. same with the man who worked at the news agent. It seemed all of the people who lived in that town were struck with grief.
The years that followed were difficult. Kazuma tried to remain friends with Jax. Jax was in total denial as Kazuma was attempting to move on. They went to the same highschool but things only got worse. When Jax finally came to terms with what had happened he became furious that Kazuma was trying to move on. At the age of 13 the two got in a heated argument where Jax exclaimed that Kazuma should have died in Kiah's place leading Kazuma to feel extremely guilty and even resort to self harm. At age 16 Jax was found dead next to a tall building which he had obviously jumped from and his body was found clutching two butterfly charms, one red and the other pink. This led to Kazuma becoming extremely depressed and when he was 18 he moved to the city leaving behind the old country town.
He didn't take much with him only some manga, clothes and his butterfly charm. Now every time he looked at it he was reminded of that fateful day and Kiah's words would fill his head, 'together forever.'
