After everything had calmed down I had finally been able to get my money all counted. 50k gold or 50000 gold for you nongamers out there.
Now this is a lot of money. The problem is that I had no fucking idea what to do with it. I had all the magic books I could really use right now. More than I could possibly learn anytime soon. advanced magic books by the way cost 100k and forbidden magic was like 1m gold for the weakest. I couldn't afford those.
As for materials for my weapon it was 100k gold for mithril. but this was only like a pound of mithril nowhere near enough to feed my chain weapon.
So I upgraded my house. 10 thousand for an increase in size and looks so it actually looked like a proper house not a wood cabin. 10 thousand for proper electric and water system with waste disposal it also came with a proper shower and toilet. 5 thousand for a cellar for storing wine, and moonshine and food preserves. Then another 5 thousand to get new furniture and such for the house. We got a fridge, a stove, some real couches and beds, a few chairs, just basic items to fill a house. Then I decided to save the rest of the money. We had about 3 thousand from the last moonshine sale then 20 thousand left from the dowry.
I did not buy more stills, because we wouldn't be able to run them all the time and I don't feel like working all hours of the day planting crops, harvesting crops, adding whatever is needed to the still. I needed to study and such plus I'm 6. I can't run some full time operation with like 4 people man. Then on top of that do training and studying.
So we upgrade our living space and make it more enjoyable.
So then life goes on. In school we learn about all sorts of different things. From magic beasts their weaknesses. To proper camping skills. These skills can be used in dungeons or out in the world. So we are learning like little boy scouts.
How to start fires properly. How to set up emergency shelters. Common plants you can and cannot eat. How to set up traps for animals and beasts. Tracking of animals and beasts.
Finally a day came where we had to dispatch an animal. This is a trying time for most children. The teacher brought us to the training grounds where there was cages of rabbits and explained to use we would be killing and skinning a rabbit each day for a week to get us used to blood and death.
World's like this sure are different for teaching. I watched as kids would panic and cry and all sorts of other different emotions. Killing an animal for the first time is a rough experience. In my previous life I wasn't a hunter or anything like that I was a nerd. Why would I have to kill anything when I could just go buy it from a store. It wasn't like we were all far away using a gun or something. We had been given a knife and we would use the knife to kill and skin and gut the rabbit.
But this is a cruel world sometimes. So with shaky hands I lifted my knife and with a swoosh chopped the bunnies head off. It wasn't pleasant. It twitched for a second as blood splurted out of the severed neck. I took a second and started too use the knife to skin the rabbit like how I was shown. I had to fight down the sick feeling I had as blood covered my hands. I slowly cut the skin away before removing the organs just leaving me with a rabbit carcass of flesh and bones it was all warm and gooey and made my hands shake. The teacher watched us all with serious eyes.
"In this world if you plan to become a knight or an adventurer or any other type of combat profession. You will at some point be forced to either take a life of an animal, a monster, or even a fellow human being. This will be for you or your groups survival. A monster doesn't care if you don't want to kill it as it will easily kill you if you let it. A group of bandits robbing a caravan you guard for goods won't care if your afraid or not. This is how the world works." He explains to the group of children.
It still took a lot of time for the kids to kill the rabbits. This would be a life changing experience for all of them.
Some would decide they liked to kill things. Some would decide to not become combat professionals and become researchers. Some would get over it and just move on. But at the end of this day it was mostly pale and sad children who met their parents at the end of the day to receive comfort.
This would go on for a week. With new tasks being added each day such as learning to properly kill the rabbit. Bleeding the rabbit of all it blood. Cooking the rabbit properly. Learning how to preserve the rabbit meat in jerky form for long term consumption and finally eating the rabbit you killed.
It was a new experience for everyone including me. Like i said I never killed anything bigger than a bug. All the meat i ever had was bought from stores.
This was an entirely different learning experience from the schools on earth.
