Down the stairs was a large empty room which was called a safe room. It was used to let people rest before a boss fight.
I had been fighting for a few hours so we took a small break and ate some jerky and drank some water before making our way to the giant door with a skull motif on it.
I pushed the big heavy doors open and there was a woosh of light and standing in the middle of a big empty room was a massive green monster carrying a club.
It had two giant tusks for teeth and just looked like a super goblin with bulking muscles. It caught sight of us and let out a huge roar which was stopped when the metal ball of my chain smashed into his mouth cracking one of the tusks and making his mouth bleed.
Rule 1 of combat. Never hesitate.
Out of instinct the ogre dropped his club and brought his hands to his mouth from the pain.
My chain hooked the club and I yanked it out of the ogres reach.
The sound of the club hitting the floor brought the ogre back to its senses.
I had ahold of my chain and started spinning it at high speed. It cut through the air with a whistling noise.
With a flick the spear tip was flying at high speed towards the ogres face. It raise it's arms and tried to block. The tip bit into its arms deeply drawing out oozing green blood as he roared in pain.
Before I could yank it out he grabbed it with his uninjured hand and yanked I was pulled off the ground towards the beast as he tried to grab me.
That failed as I yanked the chain also moving forward faster. I was right in front of the massive bleeding monster and it was completely off gaurd.
with another yank the metal ball on the other end of my chain was next to me and wait a mighty swing upwards it smashed the beast right between the legs crushing his cookies and making him drop to his knees.
Using the bounce from the metal balls attack I swung it around the opposite way and smashed it right in top of the ogres head with a sickening crunch his head split open bleeding out green and gray goo before falling over dead.
I stomped on the head just to make sure.
"Thats a rough way to go." The instructor said looking at the dead ogre still holding his groin.
"Yep I like to call that move the nut cracker." I said with a laugh cutting the chest open and pulling out the slightly larger monster core.
A silver chest and a ball of light appeared in the middle of the room.
I did the same as I do with all chests and opened it with the chain at a distance.
Inside was a couple gold coins and a few steel bars used to upgrade weapons. I didn't need this as I already had a steel weapon. But metal was expensive so I took it anyway.
"Congratulations on becoming an official fighter after we leave the dungeon I'll have your plate updated." Rowen says as we walk over to the glowing ball.
We touch it and the light teleports us outside where my family and Silvia are eagerly waiting.
"With how long you were in there I take it you passed everything?" my dad asked with a proud look.
Rowen answers for me. "Yes and he did wonderful if you would follow me over to the main building we can get your plate updated." he says leading us towards the exam building and filling out a quick paper before asking for my plate.
He puts it in a machine and all my information is updated. With this I can enter dungeons. Register as an adventurer. Join the army. Graduate or continue studying new things. Since I studied at the Academy instead of waiting til I was 16 when I join the army or adventurer guild I'll have an increased rank since I was trained i won't have to go through the super low ranks.
Silvia had also passed the tests and would continue to study with me. She would be studying under a professional for rapiers and a mage for ice magic.
"You plan to continue at the Academy correct? Here is a list of teachers taking on students for specialized studies and a list of auxiliary classes and materials you'll need to buy." Rowen says passing me a small booklet.
I thank the man before leaving with my family. We make our way home where Cassie has a feast made for us to celebrate me and Silvia's rank ups.
I take a shower in the inner world to clean off the dirt and grime from the day and clean my chain before we get to the feast.
"So what do you plan to study?" my mom asks me looking through the book and classes.
"I'm going to do the Alchemist classes first off." I tell her and she flips to the page on alchemy.
"It's got pretty strict requirements but your grades are perfect in plant identification and emergency medical situations so your good to go. You'll need some expensive stuff but we can easily afford it." mom says. "Are you going to do all the courses?" she asks me.
"Yep." I respond stuffing a bacon sandwich in my mouth. I'm a firm believer that bacon and potatoes are the best food on any planet. Bacon for its deliciousness and potatoes for its vast uses. Chips, fries, booze, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes and you can put bacon on all of them except the booze.
